QUESTION Question
So I ain’t play much Diablo but I remember how much I enjoyed it when I played it back then so booted up my ps3 and just got back into Diablo 3. I know the version I’m playing is very behind and not up to date. With that being said I went and took a look in the ps store on my ps5 and Diablo 3 the eternal collection is $60 but Diablo 4 is $50. Judging by the pricing I assume Diablo 3 is better than 4 but makes me wonder is it really ? I’m looking for opinions to help me with this transaction! Whatever game I get ima have my buddy purchase so we can play together and I’d like to purchase/recommend the better game within the series cause he played Diablo 3 and knows it’s good and it makes him wonder also if diablo 4 is good, better, or worst than the prior. Thanks in advance🙏🏼

I enjoy all of the Diablo games. Better is purely subjective in this case.
4 is more open-world, which may or may not interest you. Some of the class builds are a lot of fun.
As others suggest, perhaps wait for one or the other to be on sale and buy that way.

Diablo 4 is a decidedly bad game, it was designed to be a bad video game.
It’s been studied and documented.
Not sure if it’s gotten much better, but I doubt it.
Whereas D3 is one of the best examples of technical game design you’ll ever experience. It has flaws, sure, but overall it’s an example of what a good game could look like.

Different games. And as you said, it's eternal edition which is base game plus expansion. I wouldn't worry about prices to determine quality of gameplay. Both games play differently so I depends on what you want out of it. D3 is faster paced and is a finished product. D4 is a bit slower of a grind, and is still being updated.

I'm sticking in a heartfelt recommendation you get d3 - I'd have been more than happy to pay full price for it, and more, but I got it in a sale for pennies. Wait til it's on sale, all formats are on a regular basis, get it.
D3 I paid change for, it turned out to be gold. D4 I full priced, although I'll give it more tries it's yet to be worth a penny.
Get d3 when it's on sale, have your bud get it, hopefully best couple bucks you spent.

Never played 4, so I can't give you any advice there, but I can tell you that the past week alone I have logged nearly 30 hours in 3 and I am STILL learning new things and encountering fun things

Diablo 4 with both dlcs is basically open world Diablo 3 now, you should get it it’s really good now you have more endgame I like the grind more in D4 you got more to do, than only rift after rift

Gear wise 4 is more interesting than 3 and you can do so much more than just pick a set and having only the seasonal theme be different every season. Plus there’s so much more to do other than echos/rift/gr’s. So personally, get d4 if you can also get the dlc’s but if you cant, it’s probably just worth waiting on a sale for both games

Diablo 3 is much better but w8 until a discount and u will be able to get d2r+ d2r dcl + d3 + d3 ros expansion all on same packet for 30€ or less

You have to have a Playstation Network paid subscription to play Diablo 4. I played it a bit but gave it up as not worth it to pay to play. The sad music and brown environments were just depressing AF. Diablo 3 is OLD and still way more fun than D4. I'm playing it right now.

d4 is online mandatory meaning it needs to be connected to the internet in order to play it. d3 is both offline and online so you can take it anywhere with you.
in terms of update, just go to the update options in your ps and do it there. the latest update should download. no need to by an entire new game

The eternal collection (Diablo III, RoS expansion, necromancer) goes on sale for about $20 every 2-3 months.
