Product Support DJI Support asks a DECEASED cancer patient for "explicit authorization" to unlock a drone. Ticket 10391284

Hello everyone, and hello to the DJI community administrators.

I am writing this post to express my deep frustration with the rigid, insensitive, and utterly tone-deaf conduct enforced by DJI’s customer service policies, which create impassable automatic barriers even when dealing with extreme, sensitive, and deeply delicate cases.

Here are the facts:

A few months ago, the tenant living in my apartment, Mr. E***** B*****, unfortunately passed away. Before his departure, he signed an official, binding legal agreement releasing the apartment and, consequently, all personal property left inside it to me—including his DJI Mini 2. Under Italian property law, the physical possession of a non-registered movable asset, combined with legal documentation tracing its origin, constitutes undisputed proof of legitimate ownership. I am now the sole and rightful legal owner of this drone.

However, the drone is currently bound via Account Binding to the deceased owner’s profile ([r******@gmail.com](mailto:robbar51@gmail.com)). Since he has passed away, there is absolutely no way to access his account directly or request a password reset through his devices—neither for me nor for his relatives (whom I would never dream of disturbing for such a trivial matter during their time of grief).

As soon as I became aware of DJI's anti-theft system (a measure I completely respect and agree with in normal circumstances), I contacted DJI Support under Ticket 10391284, confidently providing:

  1. The signed legal agreement releasing the property and its contents.
  2. The exact credentials linked to the deceased (email, as well as his Italian and US T-Mobile phone numbers).
  3. Clear photos of the drone and its serial number (3Q4CHBE3B39EKT).
  4. Full availability to provide his official death certificate, confirming he passed away on March 19, 2026, due to a malignant neoplasm of the descending colon, treated in vain with a stoma.

Given that the original owner passed away after a long, painful, and agonizing medical battle, the first shocking response I received from DJI Support (agent AJ) was a generic script:
"We cannot directly unbind the device from an account without explicit authorization from the original account holder. This security measure is in place to prevent unauthorized transfers and safeguard everyone's equipment."

The second response was even more inappropriate and morally unacceptable to me:
"Unfortunately, the previous owner's heir will need to contact us directly for verification. We recommend that family members access their email account and send us an unbinding request from that email address."

These requests are a Kafkaesque nightmare. The first is a physical impossibility. The second is an incredibly insensitive, invasive, and inappropriate demand to place upon a family that has just been devastated by a tragic loss after such a brutal illness.

While I fully support the fight against theft and illegal appropriation, DJI's stubborn refusal to recognize the exceptional nature of this case goes far beyond security. By hiding behind automated scripts and refusing to manually unbind a legally acquired asset, DJI is actively preventing the free use of private property.

I am objectively the legitimate owner of this asset. I am publicly asking for a human being—a supervisor or a senior administrator—to step in personally, look at the legal documents attached to my ticket, and handle this case with a shred of common sense.

Please escalate Ticket 10391284 to a senior manager who possesses a minimum of human empathy.

Thank you

Product Support Help with Flywoo DJI BNF!

I bought a Flywoo Nano baby BNF-DJI. I thought it was elrs, but couldn’t get it to bind either via WiFi or the usual. So then I noticed that maybe I mistakenly bought the DJI platform and got a DJI RC 3. I got the screen with the RC info, but can’t get the controller to work. How do I do this? Help!

Product Support Help with pairing a borrowed fpv kit?

Hey, I'm aware that this is probably a Google-able question, but the responses were a bit contradictory, so I thought I'd ask the experts.

Im going to borrow a motion combo from my buddy to use with my Neo 2, and I'm hoping for help with what that means in terms of pairing and binding.

Does he need to be logged out, or can I just use them with my account? Anything else I should be aware of?

Don't get them til Friday and would like to avoid having to make calls and bug him if I can sort it earlier.

Thanks in advance.

Buy Advice Best place to order a mavic 4 Pro in the US.

I'm looking to order a Mavic 4 Pro fly more combo. I know there is a rule in this subreddit against buying and selling. Those of you that have ordered on eBay, can you recommend if it's better off to order one that's in the US or one that needs to be imported?

TIA

Product Support Dji Repair Options in US

I had just got my brand new mini 5 pro off of Adorama and like 2 months in I crashed it indirectly into a brick wall on sports mode. Now, when I boot it up, the camera spins continuously and doesn’t stop. I still get a live camera feed and the propellers and stuff still wok, I just can’t take off since the drone doesn’t pass the pre check.
I was wondering what repair options I have in the us and how big of a repair this is.

Product Support Anyone else getting suspicious-looking DJI creator/collaboration DMs that might actually be legit?

Recently I’ve been getting DMs on Instagram and WhatsApp from accounts inviting me to join DJI creator programs, campaigns, groups, contests, etc.

The weird part is that the accounts themselves often look VERY suspicious! sometimes only one or two posts, very few followers, no verification, and basically nothing that makes them look officially connected to DJI.

However, when I look deeper, things start looking much more legitimate:

  • The email addresses they provide sometimes use what appears to be a legitimate DJI-related domain.
  • Campaign/contest links they send sometimes lead to actual DJI forum/community pages.
  • So far they haven’t asked me for passwords, payments, verification codes, banking information, or anything obviously sensitive.
  • Usually they just ask me to create/upload content using a DJI watermark and certain hashtags, then submit the content through a Google Form or similar form.

So I’m confused.

If these people are actually working with DJI or an agency hired by DJI, why is the outreach being done through Instagram/WhatsApp accounts that look exactly like scam accounts? Why wouldn’t DJI use an established official creator account or some other easily verifiable channel?

My concern is also that something can start completely harmless and legitimate-looking, and the scam only happens later in the process.

Has anyone here received similar DMs and actually participated?

Were they legitimate? Did you eventually confirm that the person contacting you was actually associated with DJI?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from creators who have gone through the whole process, not just opinions based on whether the profile “looks legit.”

I haven’t provided any sensitive information so far, but I’m trying to figure out whether I should proceed with these opportunities or simply ignore them unless I can independently verify the person contacting me.

I ordered a mini 5 pro last night, expecting it to ship pretty soon as the last time I ordered from DJI it was quick, but now it's saying it could be a month. Is anyone else experiencing long order processing times?

Buy Advice CBP told me my DJI Lito X1 couldn’t enter the US because of “Xinjiang” / UFLPA — does anyone know why?

I recently drove from Canada into the US through the Peace Arch border crossing with my family. I had a DJI Lito X1 with me (worth roughly $300).
The CBP officer told me that the drone could not be admitted into the US because of “Xinjiang” / UFLPA concerns. I was told that I would need to take it back to Canada.
Since it was late at night and I was traveling with my family, I didn’t want to spend hours dealing with the situation, so I ultimately abandoned/disposed of the drone. I feel very sad as it is very nice product, an I have to dispose it before any use.
What I’m trying to understand now is why the Lito X1 would be subject to UFLPA restrictions.
As far as I can tell, DJI itself is not on the UFLPA Entity List. I also haven’t been able to find anything publicly indicating that the Lito X1, its battery (BWXGP1-2788-7.0), or a specific component is associated with a Xinjiang entity.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with DJI products at a US border crossing?
I’d especially appreciate it if someone familiar with UFLPA/CBP could explain whether this is:
A specific restriction on DJI/Lito X1,
A concern about a particular component or supplier, or
CBP making an individual determination about the specific shipment/item.
I’m not looking to blame the individual CBP officer or seek compensation. I’m just trying to understand what rule was actually being applied here.

Product Support Firmware update and 5g module

I found an old thread on here about DJI doing a firmware upgrade and that causing the 5g modules on the mini 2 se drones to overheat?

Just wondering if DJI have acknowledged this happened?
To cut a long story short, my eldest son bought the drone and stopped using it for many months, he passed it onto his younger brother and after doing the firmware updates, it started dropping connections on dual band. Switching to 2.4g signal each time resolves it. His brother never had this issue before the firmware.
I am wondering if it worth logging it with DJI, it’s out of warranty.

Product Support Bringing DJI Flip back to US

Hey guys, I've been in Taiwan visiting family for the past 4 months since the beginning of May and I brought my DJI flip with me. Since I've left the whole issue with the government banning DJI drones sales in the US and potentially even previously sold models as well. I'm flying back to the states on Saturday and I am wondering if it will be safe for me to bring my Flip back with me or are they going to force me to throw it away at customs?

Product Support DJI RS3 Pro struggling to rotate on Tilta Hydra Alien during high speed car turns. Any advice?

We are doing a shoot where we want to follow a car driving at high speed on a road with a lot of turns and bumps through the fields. We are filming this using the Tilta Hydra Alien Pro Car Mounting System, with a DJI RS3 Pro mounted on it and a Blackmagic PYXIS attached to the gimbal.

After doing a lot of testing, we found that the camera works best when mounted in the position shown in the photo. However, when taking some of the tighter corners, the gimbal has a very hard time keeping up and rotating with the turn through our remote-control system.

We assume that the wind resistance during the sharper turns is causing the gimbal to struggle to rotate back into the turn. We were wondering if anyone has any tips or experience with this kind of setup.

We were also thinking that it might be better to try filming with a Ronin 2 instead, but we are not sure whether that would work with the adapter/mounting piece shown in the second photo.

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Buy Advice Best DJI camera for filming YouTube + TikTok/Instagram without shooting twice?

I’m looking for a DJI camera for vlogging/documenting growing a business. I want to post longer videos on YouTube (landscape), but also use the same footage for TikTok, Reels and Shorts (portrait).

Ideally I want to film everything once and be able to crop/reframe it for both formats without losing too much quality or having to reshoot.

Which DJI camera would be best for this — Pocket 3, Action 5/6, or something else?

Buy Advice RC 2 PRO VS RC 2

Hello I’m thinking about posting landscape videos using the mavic 4 pro drone . The main platform I’m posting too is instagram . I was thinking of majority of the content I’m going to be using this drone for is for cinematic videos for instagram then do I really need the RC 2 pro controller/ creator combo version of the mavic 4 drone . Is it going to be make a huge difference on video quality / shooting the actual video , and if anyone can quantify how much better you do on a like percent scale then please try too . I just want to see if spending the extra money is super worth it? Thank you !
