Sam jumped into his arms. Held on & wouldn't let goRobert tried to put him down. After 15 minutes Robert said he couldn't walk away from someone this terrified of being abandoned yet again. He carried Sam to the front desk & signed adoption papers. After being in Robert's house for 9 hours, Sam was ok no longer being held. Not all dogs get a happy ending like this one. But they all deserve one💕

We immediately realised there was a dog inside. We quickly carried the sack into the shelter because we were afraid that, once we opened it, she might panic, run away and disappear before we could catch her.

So we took her into a safe area inside the shelter and carefully opened the sack there.

Inside was a 9-year-old little old lady, terrified and confused.

From what we understand, her family had passed away, and the heirs decided to put her in a sack and bring her to the shelter.

After nine years of having a home… this is how she was abandoned.

She didn’t deserve to spend her final years like this. ❤️

Can you even imagine the trauma?
Many of you will remember the rescue of Bonnie, the Golden Retriever from China.
She couldn’t get over the border into England, so we were asked if we could help find her a new home.
Can you believe we had nearly 80 applications for her?
So many applications that I actually made a point of telling Kerry, “I can’t believe how popular Golden Retrievers are. I honestly had no idea this was still such a thing.”
But most people would rather rescue a dog than buy one from a breeder.
When I gave Kerry CandyCaneRescue that information, she said, “Well, I have more Golden Retrievers. I can do some fundraising to get them to you, if you think you can find them homes, so they don’t have to stay in a refuge in China.”
So I said, why not? Let’s do it.
And please, let’s make something very, very clear: we are not paying for these Goldens, and we do not sell them.
We had some incredibly nasty comments from people who thought we were somehow becoming a business. Absolutely ridiculous. And please, don’t judge us by your standards.
What we want is simple: dogs in homes.
If we have had 80 applications for one dog, and we have the opportunity to bring over a few more Golden Retrievers so that people can adopt them rather than buy from a breeder, then you know what?
I’m all in.
All Galgos del Sol is doing is offering a space and helping find these dogs homes.
The fact that they will find homes quickly does not take anything away from the Galgos.
So please, open your hearts. Broaden your minds.
Sometimes, it’s about working together.
80 applications.
That means 79 families wanted Bonnie and now have to be told no, because Bonnie has found her home.
So we are bringing over two more Golden Retrievers.
That means two more of those families might get lucky enough to adopt a rescue dog instead of buying one.
And if we can make that happen, then why wouldn’t we ❤️
