Showcase in the Cupboard - I built my wife a meal plan app

Post image
5 Upvotes

My wife and I are polar opposites when it comes to grocery shopping and meal planning. I would make a big batch of chicken and rice on Sunday then eat slop bowls all week. She, on the other hand, wants real meals each night.

I was unintentionally putting the mental load of planning our meals (and thus, grocery lists) on her. So I built us a meal planner app where we can both see exactly the same things!

If I save a recipe, she can see it.

When she plans a meal, I see it.

Then we both have the exact same shopping list and I don't need to dig through our Insta DMs to find the recipe I'm cooking that night!

I'd love for you to check it out and let me know what you think!

Please Read Before Posting

Welcome to r/droidappshowcase. This community is for discovering Android apps, sharing projects, and giving useful feedback. Whether you’re a developer or a user, the goal here is simple: high-quality posts and constructive discussion.

For Developers

  • Use a clear, descriptive title. Vague titles will be removed.
  • Good examples:
    • “Habit tracker with offline sync and reminders”
    • “New Android puzzle game with controller support”
  • Include a meaningful description. Explain what your app does, what makes it useful, and why people should try it.
  • Use the correct flair, such as Promo, Giveaway, or Feedback.
  • If you need testers, beta feedback, or bug reports, post in r/droidapptesters instead.
  • If your post is for showcasing a finished app or a release-ready update, this is the right place.

For Users

  • Share thoughtful, useful feedback. Tell people what works, what doesn’t, and why.
  • Ask for recommendations with clear requirements or use cases.
  • Be respectful and constructive in giveaways and promotional posts.

General Rules

  • Android only. Posts must be directly related to Android apps or the Android ecosystem.
  • No low-effort posts or spam. Link-only posts and vague descriptions will be removed.
  • Be respectful and professional.

If Your Post Is Removed

A removal is not a penalty, and it does not mean your app is bad.

Most removals happen because a post needs better formatting or does not match the rules. Read the removal reason, fix the issue, and repost. Once corrected, most posts are approved.

Posting Checklist

  • Title is clear and descriptive.
  • Correct flair is applied.
  • Images are uploaded through Reddit or a supported host like Imgur.
  • Post has been previewed before submitting.

For the full rules, check the sidebar.

Good posts get attention. Low-effort posts do not. Take a minute to do it right.

Showcase CouplesChallenge - Gamified habit tracker for two

Post image
Upvotes

App Name: CouplesChallenge

What it does: CouplesChallenge is a gamified habit tracker built specifically for two people. My wife and I wanted a better way to track joint yearly goals than a text file, but couldn't find an app built for shared progress. So, I built one to make building habits together fun, competitive, and accountable.

Key Features

  • 🎮 5 Challenge Types: Track binary daily habits, shared co-op goals (e.g., Walk 100 miles together), weight trends, and running counts.
  • 🛡️ Playful Modifiers: Spend earned XP to place 24-hour modifiers on your partner’s habits or shield against theirs.
  • 🎟️ Real-World Rewards: Earn joint XP to unlock date night ideas, shared bucket lists, and custom vouchers.
  • 🤖 Local AI & Analytics: An on-device AI coach ("Sparky") offers private motivation and trend insights.
  • 🔒 Offline-First & Private: Built on a local-first Room database. No ads, no tracking SDKs, and full offline functionality.

Goal: Launch / Get Feedback

  • I would really like some honest constructive feedback

It includes quick timers, custom timers, Turn off at scheduling, and an optional countdown overlay.

Beta / Testing Beginner photo notebook app — feedback? (Android)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

App name: PhotoNotes (PhotoBones)

One-liner: Offline field photo notebook — starter settings, stories, field notes, check list, camera presets. Free, no account, no ads.

What I'm looking for: Honest feedback, not downloads. Does the menu make sense? Does the hand-drawn look feel dated or OK for a field notebook? What's missing?

Key features:

  • Your shot — settings from type/scene/light/subject
  • ~20 offline stories from my first months with an R10
  • Field notes, check list, C1/C2/C3* presets, CSV export
  • Spanish & English

Cost: Free. No IAP, no subscription, no ads. Not on Google Play yet.

Links:

Download (signed APK): https://github.com/PhotoBones/PhotoNotes/releases/latest

Quick demo Youtube (only in spanish): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy3EMP5GRrI

Known limitations: Android only. APK outside Play Store (Play Protect may warn). Design is intentionally simple — I'm not a pro designer.

Feedback goals: UX clarity, whether you'd actually use it vs phone Notes, anything confusing in the first 10 minutes.

Showcase Group expense splitter - no accounts, no ads

App Name: Splitright

One-line description: Splits shared costs for a group trip, a flatshare or a night out, without anyone having to create an account.

What it does / key features:

  1. No accounts at all. No email, no password, no sign-in screen. A group is a six-character code: one person creates it, everyone else joins by typing the code or scanning a QR from the inviter's screen. That's the whole onboarding.

  2. Balances update as you add expenses, and they're written in words - "Anna is owed EUR 37.68", "Clara owes EUR 25.31" - rather than relying on red/green alone, so it's readable if you're colourblind.

  3. Settle Up works out who pays whom using as few transfers as possible, instead of making everyone pay everyone.

  4. Splits equally, by shares (2:1, 3:1 for a bigger room or a couple sharing) or by exact amounts, with live feedback on what's left to assign.

  5. 43 currencies, and if a trip mixes them the exchange rate is stored with each expense as you enter it, so your totals don't silently change a week later when rates move.

  6. No ads, no analytics SDK, no trackers. Exodus Privacy's scan of the current version reports 0 trackers and 4 permissions.

Who it's for: Groups who split costs occasionally and don't want to talk everyone into installing an app and making an account first - holidays, flatmates, dinners, hen weekends. Especially useful if one or two people in the group won't sign up for anything on principle.

Cost: Pricing model: Free. Prices and billing period: Free. No subscription, no in-app purchases at present, no paywalled features. Current promotions: none.

Honest note on the business model, since the sub asks for pricing accuracy: the plan is eventually one optional one-time purchase (around USD 3.99) for export and categories. Nothing is paywalled today and the core splitting will stay free.

Links: Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.splitright.app

The privacy policy is linked from the Play listing. I've left our own site out of this post because it isn't on the sub's approved-domains list - my first attempt got auto-moderated for exactly that, which is fair enough.

Screenshots: six screenshots of the current version are on the Play listing above (group list, balances overview, expense list, add-expense with the split modes, settle-up, and the content rules screen).

Feedback goals: Two things specifically. First, is the join flow actually obvious to the person receiving the code, or does it need explaining? That's the step where I think we lose people. Second, does the shares mode cover how you split rent in practice, or is your household's arrangement more complicated than a weighting?

Known issues, in the interest of being straight: tapping a join link opens the app directly on Android, but on iOS that's not wired up yet, so iPhone users have to type the code for now. Fixing it in the next release.

Additional notes: Requires Android 7.0+. Made by Kristoffer, an indie developer.

Beta / Testing [DEV] An offline, subscription-free habit tracker

Hey everyone,

I recently launched my new app, The Forge Habit Tracker, and I am looking for genuine feedback from the community.

I got tired of habit trackers arbitrarily hard-capping users at just a few habits on their free tier to force a paid upgrade or pushing monthly subscriptions just to tick off daily checklists. I wanted to build a straightforward alternative that respects user data and avoids aggressive monetisation.

Here is what the app offers:

  • The Grid UI: It uses an effective, colour-coded yes/no grid wrapped in a clean Material Design layout.
  • Offline-First: It is a standalone application that relies entirely on a local SQLite database.
  • Total Privacy: Because there is absolutely zero backend infrastructure, your personal routines never leave your device.
  • No Subscriptions: The core tracking is completely free. Unlocking the ability to track an unlimited number of habits is a simple £3 one-off payment.

You can download it from Google Play here:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.forge.habits&hl=en

I would love for you to try it out and let me know the good and the bad. Specifically, I am looking for feedback on how the grid UI feels during daily use and if there are any other privacy-first features you would like me to add in the next update.

Thanks,

Mike.

Showcase I built a really simple Mahjong app for my mom

My mom likes playing Mahjong, but she was getting tired of mobile games with so much stuff going on — popups, currencies, rewards, daily bonuses, events, and a million buttons everywhere.

She basically told me, “I just want to play the game.”

So I built Just Mahjong for her.

I know there are already a million Mahjong apps out there, and I’m definitely not trying to reinvent anything. The whole point was actually the opposite: make it as simple as possible. Open the app, play Mahjong, and that's pretty much it.

No complicated progression system or a bunch of distractions. Just Mahjong.

I originally made it for my mom, but figured there might be other people who want the same kind of thing, so I put it on the Play Store.

If anyone wants to try it, here it is:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nonniegames.justmahjong

Would genuinely appreciate any feedback, especially if there’s something that could be simpler or easier to use.

Showcase WEREVEN - A Free Expense-Splitting App

Post image
4 Upvotes

App Name: WEREVEN

What it does: Just like other apps, you and your friends can track expenses, and see who owes whom.

Key Features:

- Unlike many other apps, not everyone in the group needs the app - you can track expenses for those who didn't join personally.

- Customizable expense tracking - remove people from certain payments, use categories, etc

- User can have a multiplier, so if you can set a high coefficient and pay most of the other's expenses, or set 0.5 for someone's kid if you travel and have agreed that the parents shouldn't pay for him as for an adult.

- Number of payments between participants is minimized, and updated in real time, so someone partially repaying to someone earlier than needed won't make you guess what to do now.

Goal:

- Promo, as I want to brag about the app

- Testing, because I'm looking for your feedback and suggestions

Cost: Currently free

Link: WEREVEN

PS I'm looking forward to your feature suggestions, store reviews, and any other feedback.
I use my app primarily for trips and parties with friends, but it can easily be used in professional setting, so if you are an event manager, or a tourist guide, and you need to track your and other people's spending on the go, I would be super happy to talk to you about the features you might use.

Promo / Giveaway I built a Japanese learning app in my free time 🌸

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I've been working on Japanify, an Android app I built independently as a personal project. It started as something I simply wanted to create for myself and gradually grew into a much bigger project that I've been developing and improving over time.

One of the main ideas behind the app is learning through mini-games. Instead of only reading lessons, you can practise things like hiragana, katakana, kanji and vocabulary through different games and challenges designed to help you memorise what you're learning.

Since it's a personal project, I've put a lot of time into designing, coding and improving it myself, and I'd really love to get feedback from people discovering it for the first time.

As a little gift for Reddit:

🎁 SHIRU90

The code gives you 90 days of Japanify Premium for free.

⚠️ Premium is a subscription, so if you're only using the code to try the app, remember to cancel before the free period ends if you don't want it to renew afterwards.

📱 Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shiruacademy.japanify

If you try it and enjoy it, a review on Google Play would genuinely help the project a lot ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

And if you find a bug, something feels confusing, or you have an idea for a new mini-game or improvement, feel free to contact me at [contact@shiruacademy.com](mailto:contact@shiruacademy.com). I'm actively working on the app, so any feedback or bug reports are really helpful.

And if you find a bug, something feels confusing, or you have an idea for a new mini-game or improvement, feel free to contact me through shiruacademy.com.

I'd especially love to hear whether the mini-games actually make practising hiragana, kanji and vocabulary more enjoyable for you.

Thanks for checking it out 😅🇯🇵

Showcase [DEV] FamilyGuard Medication App - NO AD's

App Name: FamilyGuard Medication App
Developer: OPT Pro
Price: Free Core / $2.99/year Launch Promo (Normal: $4.99/year)
Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ai.supplychainhub.familyguard&pcampaignid=web_share

Hi everyone! I just launched FamilyGuard, an Android medication tracker designed specifically around remote family accountability and caregiver peace of mind.

While individual pill alarms exist, they fail if a vulnerable loved one simply swipes the notification away. FamilyGuard bridges this gap by looping in the family network.

🌟 Key Features:

  • Caregiver Network Sync: Securely sync profiles so you are immediately notified on your phone if your child, spouse, or elderly parent misses a critical dose.
  • Persistent Alarms: High-priority, full-screen alerts that stay active until physically addressed—preventing accidental dismissals.
  • Privacy First: No mandatory account registration required for basic local tracking. Your health data stays yours.
  • Generous Free Tier: Unlimited medication logs and basic scheduling are entirely free. No core utility features are locked away.

🚀 Limited Launch Promotion:

To celebrate our first month on the Google Play Store, the premium tier (advanced family syncing & ad removal) is available at an early-bird rate of $2.99 per annum. Next month, this will adjust to our standard rate of $4.99 per annum, offering a highly affordable alternative to corporate tracking apps.

Showcase Expressive Cutout v0.2.0: a FOSS dynamic island

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

Recently, I made a post about Expressive Cutout, a dynamic island app I've made using Jetpack Compose. Quickly, the repo got 100 stars and a few people started following the project, giving me inspiration, suggesting features and reporting bugs.

We have been working a lot on it and we're now very glad to release the first major version of Expressive Cutout! It brings new features, fixes many problems, makes the dynamic island shine in Android, and adds a few bugs probably too.

I am sure people here would appreciate a free offline FOSS Dynamic Island app.

Give it a try!

Showcase Swap v1.1.0 — big update to my file sharing app

Hey, so a while back I posted about Swap, an Android app that runs a local file server on your phone so any device on the same Wi-Fi can grab/send files through a browser. I've been working on it since then and v1.1.0 just dropped. Main stuff I added:

  • File management in the browser now — rename, move, delete, create folders, multi-select
  • Preview files in-browser (images, video, audio, PDFs) without downloading
  • Gallery view with thumbnails for images/videos
  • Trash with undo so you don't lose stuff
  • Share links that expire or work once — handy when you don't want to give someone full access
  • Camera upload from the web UI
  • Dark mode and custom color themes
  • Device shows up as swap.local so you don't have to type IPs
  • Optional password for the whole server
  • Update checker built into the app

Also fixed a huge performance issue — folder loads used to take 20-30 seconds and now they're around 1 second. Was a mix of the phone sleeping the Wi-Fi and a bunch of unnecessary IPC calls.

Showcase Im-off — offline PTO tracker for 7 countries

Post image
2 Upvotes

Im-off: tracks how much paid time off you actually have left — accrual, carry-over, half-days, booked versus approved — and keeps all of it on the phone.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thepankar.gconges

What it does

  • Separate counters for paid leave and, in France, RTT. Half-days throughout.
  • Monthly accrual, proration for a mid-year start, part-time quotas
  • Counts in working days or business days, whichever your contract uses
  • Reference period on the calendar year, or June→May
  • Warns about leave you're about to lose, before the carry-over deadline
  • Pending requests and approved ones are tracked apart, so you get a real balance and a best-case one instead of one ambiguous number
  • Finds bridges — the single days sitting between a public holiday and a weekend. Book one, get four. In France in 2027, six well-placed days come to eighteen days off.
  • Month and year calendars, home screen widgets, PDF leave request

Where it works

France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK and the US, with regional holidays: Länder, cantons, US states, UK nations. Five interface languages, and the app takes a local name in each.

Offline, and private by construction

Data lives in a JSON file on the device. No account, no sign-up, no analytics SDK, no crash reporter. Nothing is transmitted unless you switch on the optional

Drive backup, which uses the `drive.file` and `calendar.app.created` scopes — those reach only the files and events the app created itself, never the rest of your Drive or calendar.

Limits worth stating

Android only; there is no iOS build. RTT is a French rule, and the app hides that counter everywhere else rather than showing an empty one. US leave policy is set by your employer rather than by law, so the US setup starts from a figure

you enter yourself.

Beta / Testing 12 Android testers for Stop Snus. 1 month free

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a few more Android testers for Stop Snus, an app I built to help people gradually quit snus (nicotine pouches) or cigarettes.

The app creates a personal day-by-day reduction plan based on your current consumption and how quickly you want to quit. It helps you track your daily use, follow your progress, see how much money you are saving, view statistics and forecasts, unlock milestones, and get practical help when cravings hit.

Stop Snus is already available on the iOS App Store. The Android version is ready, but I need testers to complete Google Play’s closed testing requirement.

Every tester who creates an account will receive one month of Premium for free. Premium is activated manually, so please DM me the email address used for your account after signing up.

I am also happy to test your Android app in return.

How to join:

  1. Join the Google Group using the same Google account you use in Google Play: https://groups.google.com/g/stop-snus-testers
  2. Wait around 5 to 10 minutes for Google to register the membership.
  3. Open the testing link, press “Become a tester,” and install the app: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.tobiassve.stopsnus

Please remain opted in for at least 14 days. If possible, try the app and let me know if anything is confusing, broken, or could be improved.

The app currently supports English, Danish, German, Swedish, Norwegian, and Finnish.

If you want me to test your app in return, leave your links in the comments or send me a DM. Thanks!
