In case you haven't already, add yourself to the CC list of the bug. It is kind of voting.

Looks like the developer who's been investigating the issue assigned the bug to themself yesterday, so with any luck you'll hopefully see some momentum on it soon.

Control+Alt+X still loses cursor focus for AI Chatbots. Been this way for a few months now. Humble request to fix, please?
1
u/jolie_mozilla 8h ago
Hi Malaprobably, Ctrl + Alt + X is the Windows shortcut for opening the Firefox Sidebar chatbot when the Sidebar Chatbot feature is enabled. You can also customize keyboard shortcuts by going to
about:keyboard> Sidebar > AI Chatbot. Hope this helps!2
u/Malaprobably 7h ago
When done in Linux, there is no cursor in the prompt box. It disappears, so you must manually select the prompt with mouse.
Not looking to customize the keyboard shortcut .

Wow I am impressed with YouTube speed. Well done. Retested all settings again, enabled experimental filters, enabled ublock annoyances filters and I no longer have initial video start delay ~3-4 seconds. Changing video resolution also seems more snappy. And I keep YT Control Panel extension enabled without it causing any issues. Good progress, YT is probably the only app that works worse than on Chromium-based browsers, but it's not entirely Mozilla's fault...

Applies to Twitch, as well. Now streams switch literally instantly. Night and day difference.

The plus-button for opening new tabs is now stuck in the upper right corner and not next to the tabs as usual. Any idea on how to fix?

u/TheCravin 11h ago edited 11h ago
Yes! It's dreadful! Any way to fix it would be greatly appreciated!
Edit: In fact, you can go to hamburger menu > more tools > customize toolbar, then drag it back to where it belongs. I had issues doing it initially, but restarting firefox fixed it.

u/BluepaiN 10h ago
Well, now it's just all the way to the left instead. Cant seem to get it just to the right side of my rightmost tab. Edit: Fixed it. Just have to drag it a couple of times. It can do it, but doesnt really show until you save the changes.

u/Twiggled 9h ago
Yea you just have to get it to the left of chevron while in edit-mode. As soon as you save, it snaps over to where the tabs are.

NEAT! Can't wait to update at home and look if Happy Eyeballs v3 makes any difference!
(Yes, i am more excited about some internal non-user stuff than AI features, just let me be happy...)
3
u/JustSomebody56 17h ago
What’s that?
16
u/NamedBird 16h ago
Basically: Happy Eyeballs version 3 tries to make websites load faster.
There are multiple ways your browser can connect to a website.
Before, it would just try one way and only use the next one if it doesn't work. This is slow.
With this change, multiple ways of connecting are tried at once and the fastest one wins.
It should make websites load just a bit faster and more reliable.2

How long does it take for the flatpak to get the new version? Also is Nova now enabled by default?
5
u/MozRyanVM Mozilla Employee 15h ago
155 should be available on Flathub already from what I can see. And as of now, Nova is targeting the Fx157 release, though as always, that's subject to change between now and then.

Is the stutter issue fixed? I got them on 154 and the previous update.
1
u/xor50 7h ago
yeah 154 was horrible for performance, it's so bad, so laggy.
I hope it is now or at least will be fixed very soon, because it almost makes me want to switch browsers and I don't really want to do that. but if I must...
rolling back to 153 would be another option but also very annoying.1
u/Eastern_Ease8791 6h ago
I think it had something to do with the laptop's intel gpu since it's not present on my pc.

Always great to see a new Firefox version - thank the devs for their hard work!
REQUEST: Allow us to directly add sites to a container, with the "Manage Site List" when in 'Manage Containers' - rather than just being able to delete a site, which is how it is now.

u/LoveOfProfit 12h ago
I wish my Firefox would stop going unresponsive and blowing out memory after being open for a while. Started on the previous update and I can't figure it out.

the number of blocked trackers isn’t showing up in the URL bar even after updating to version 155.0, I haven’t seen any options to enable this either... is anyone else having the same issue?
edit: my bad, just realised that it's a progressive roll out + I had a look in about:config, and you need to enable browser.urlbar.trackerCount.featureGate

All my new tab page shortcut icons are missing after upgrading to 155 on 2 different machines. Anybody else have this issue?

u/KERR_KERR 7h ago
Woohoo! We can finally increase the number of Ctrl+Tab previews and it is glorious!

listen man, I'm very happy with hese 2 week releases. they're great. But I'd rather the Dev's aren't over worked and burn out. in the long run, it'll only do more harm than good

u/Wall_of_Force 12h ago
for some reason debian ppa repo's l10n packages are stuck at 154.0.1, while main firefox packages are 155. is this expected?
-1
u/Possible_0 on 11 10h ago
they removed the browser frame when you're in full-screen mode (not by pressing F11, just when the window is maximized), I think that's great, since I have a small screen!! the frame around the web page is only visible when the window isn't maximized or has a custom size tho

I can’t wait to read this post to learn what then key updates and bugfixes are…oh wait. it’s just a link?
4
u/rdg360 15h ago
Do you expect OP to do a full run-down?
-6
u/bdu-komrad 14h ago
Nah. Open the release page. Open AI sidebar. Ask AI to summarize the page.
Include the summary in the post.

Seems like a fine set of updates for our first 2-week release cadence.
