My new car rides too smooth

I’m 46 and I really like a good driving experience with a manual transmission. Bought a new car and it feels like a Cadillac because it’s too smooth and quiet… And I hate that.

I have to lift my 40-pound dog into the front seat of my truck because she won't use the dog stairs I got specifically for this purpose.

Why does everything beep at you in the 21st Century?

I can't just get in my car and drive without it beeping at me.
I can't leave the fridge door open without it beeping at me.
I can't leave anything sat on top of the electric hob, when it's off, without it beeping at me.

Why does everything have to beep these days?

Weirdo at my gym making herself the class monitor in a circuit training group lesson.

In the final quarter of group lessons (circuit training) at my gym, the trainer made 3 groups to play a gym-football version, and in each group there were 5-6 people. In each group, 2-3 people had to compete at a time on all 4s (but a tabletop, and not plank) and use our feet to push a 4 kg ball to "goals". The rule was don't set your bum on the ground, stay in the air on all 4s and move on your palms and feet. The remaining people would watch and cheer on. Trainer would take turns cheering on a group.

I went first, played for a couple of minutes, got defeated by the other two players and hella tired too. Next went another woman (let's call her Bummy), with another 2 players (while the rest of us stay watching casually). Bummy was on all 4s+1 as she retained her bum on the ground the entire time, more like sitting and dragging herself, making it much easier to move and not getting tired since the core is relaxed. Bummy won against the other player. The trainer was only saying encouraging words and not "you're disqualified" to all players. I thought we all understood it's for fun and to push your own limits, not to be played like the damn Olympics.

When it was my turn to go again with another woman, for a moment my bum fell on the ground, and I lifted up immediately and continued on all 4s. This Bummy started yelling at me, "you're disqualified, your bum touched the ground". I ignored it the first time, and then she repeated it by coming right in front of my body. So I said with a fake smile while still playing on all 4s, "Your bum didn't even leave the ground, so I'm ok with how much I could do." And then I got up so that someone else could take my place. She followed me and said, "yes but I made a mistake because I didn't know, you are continuing even after I'm telling you". I knew I'd likely say something I regret so I turned around and walked away to my water bottle.

A minute later she's waving at me getting my attention and saying "hey you go again," I shook my head to say no, she is relentless, asks me, "what's your name?" I say my name and she repeats, herself, "shubidoobi you go next." I said no thanks, and cheered on the other players while dead hanging from the pull up bar.

Who made her class monitor? Weird interaction.

I accidentally turned my favorite show into a dinner-only show

Last week I randomly started watching a show that turned out to be perfect for me. It is entertaining enough to keep me interested but not so intense that I cannot look away for five seconds.

The problem is that I watched the first episode while eating dinner, and now my brain has decided that this is officially my dinner show.

I cannot watch it during the afternoon because it feels wrong. I also cannot watch it without food because apparently I have created a completely unnecessary rule for myself.

Now I spend the whole day thinking about watching the next episode, but I have to wait until dinner like it is some kind of reward system I accidentally invented.

I miss the days when I could watch a show whenever I wanted.

I’m so ready to switch from “summer to fall” mode but it’s still hot and too early

Fall/Autumn is my absolute favorite season. Between the foliage change, pumpkin spice, Oktoberfest, Halloween, thanksgiving, there’s nothing better.

The current weather in my area is too still hot and humid, but I’m getting mild hints of fall in the mornings. Less than a month to go

My smart TV takes longer to decide what to watch than it takes to actually watch something

I finally get comfortable on the couch, grab a drink, put my phone away and open Netflix because I’m actually ready to relax.

Then the real work begins.

I scroll through movies for 15 minutes. Then I check another streaming service. Then I go back to Netflix because suddenly the first 15 minutes of scrolling feels like an investment I ca not abandon.

I read reviews. Watch trailers. Look at the “because you watched...” section. Add something to my list.

Eventually I get tired of choosing and just watch the same show I’ve already seen three times.

The ridiculous part is that I have thousands of things available to me and somehow the hardest decision of my evening is picking one.

Anyone else get completely grossed out by sticky restaurant menus?

I might be being overly senstive here, but honestly touching those laminated menus at restaurants gives me the worst feeling.

More than half the time they feel greasy or sticky, especially around the edges. I end up holding them with just my fingertips, and the first thing I want to do after ordering is go wash my hands.

My brain just immediately starts calculating how many dozens of people held that exact same piece of plastic today without washing their hands.

It pretty much kills my apetite before the food even gets to the table

I know some people hate QR code menus, and honestly I get why? Obviously, the ones that force you to open a broken PDF you have to keep zooming in on or dont respond well are terrible i get that, but I just wish more places offered both options, yk.

Keep paper menus for people who like them, but give us a clean digital option too where I dont feel like i have to scrub my skin after touching it. It cant be that hard, i mean, just last week i saw a place using MenuForma on a quick table scan, and it was actually smooth on mobile. No zooming needed, just a proper layout that wasnt sticky or headache inducing.

I really hope more restaurants start giving customers the choice instead of forcing everyone onto dirty plastic sheets, is that really too much to ask for?

The washing cycle has completed. The dishwasher is beeping intermittently. I don't know why. I don't care to know why. And I don't want to download an app to find out why.

Gap in power backup

I got a battery pack backup mini generator inside for my grow tents that gives me about 30 minutes to get my gas/propane/natural gas genie whole house generator started but I never got the NG hooked up so now if the power quits I’ve got to manually get my nephew to start it.

I hate moving from my home to my uni apartment

I hate having to fucking unpack my bullshit, fucking carry big boxes, unpack all my clothes parents nagging me 24 fucking 7, saying what appliances do you need, what shit do you need, and also fucking driving 4 hours, having not enough fucking car space, so we either gotta take two cars or have to do a Half drop off situation where I drop off The big things at my family friend's house who lives an hour away from my uni. Whole lot of logistical bullshit. So I fucking hate moving.

I hate driving

I hate it so much. All I fucking do is drive, go to work, drive, go back to work. If I want to go anywhere, I have to drive there. There’s not much walkable near me, and biking is nice until it’s cold out or your bike gets stolen. I want to go out at night to a bar and get hammered, but there’s none nearby that I could walk or bike to, so I’d have to drive, and that’s illegal so I can’t. I have no friends who are willing to drive me fucking anywhere. I deadass only have 2 friends with licenses, both of which have cars that are working perfectly fine. One of them is a 2023 so I doubt there’s jack shit wrong with it. Even when I was without a car recently, they wouldn’t give me rides to even fucking see them. Even though I’ve been carting their asses around for the past 6 years, before they even had licenses. My friend with the 2023 car once picked me up and brought me to his house (5 minute drive btw), then when we got there he was bitching that there was something wrong with his wheel bearing and the car isn’t driveable. ITS A 2023. ITS 3 YEARS OLD. THATS NOT FUCKING POSSIBLE. And the car didn’t have any lights on, made weird noises, or drove differently so that’s how I knew he was full of shit. I’ve also driven him in significantly more unsafe cars without a single complaint. He just didn’t wanna drive. He didn’t even give me a fucking ride home when he did that.

I just want a break from driving. I don’t care how. That could be public transportation if it existed near me, or someone driving my car. I’d use uber more but it’s really expensive in my area bc everything is all spaced out. I no longer care if they have a license, a permit is fine. Almost to the point where I’d let someone just drive my car without either. Sometimes I fantasize about not having a car so I couldn’t drive anymore, but as I learned when I didn’t have a car, no one is there for me and no one will drive me anywhere!!!!! No matter how many thousands of times I’ve driven them around!!! Because some people are too anxious and driving is scary!!!! I’m anxious as hell when I drive, and I’m scared too, but that doesn’t ever stop me from driving. The only way to get over it is to fucking practice! But I never get the privilege of being in the passenger’s seat, and I’m actively losing my shit at that. GEN Z PLEASE GET A GODDAMN GODFORSAKEN LICENSE. YOUR FRIENDS WANT A BREAK FROM CARTING YOUR LAZY STUPID ASS AROUND. I CERTAINLY DO.

I bought a brand new luxury car and now I can't park close to the entrance at work, because the parking spots are too small.

Someone will probably scratch my car with their door because they won't be able to open their door normally.

I have to park at the very back, about 100m further.
