St. Mary's has announced the Wolastoq River Resort Casino, with a 30,000 square foot bingo hall/casino, event centre for up to 1000 people, and a 100+ room hotel. This will be located on Union Street, straddling Cliffe Street.

I was biking on the river path tonight and saw a huge cluster of emergency vehicles (wish I knew the exact location, somewhere between downtown and the victoria health centre, much closer to the former). Saw a car flipped over and another one on the bike path surrounded by several cops. Anyone know what happened?

We are a small group of people who like to play tabletop wargames (minis, hex-and-counter, you name it). We meet once a month at the Fredericton Inn, in Salon E.

We are meeting this Sunday, September 6th, from 9am to 5pm. If you are a longtime wargamer, a curious newcomer, or anything in between, please feel free to join us. Each month I pick a theme in order to encourage some lesser-played things off of people's shelves. This month our theme is "The Blade Itself". Anything with a sword in it is fair game, from a gladius to a lightsaber. I'm going to be playing GMT's Sekigahara, about the short campaign and decisive battle that established the Tokugawa Shogunate (and is at the end of James Clavell's Shogun, if you enjoyed the book or miniseries).

Last month our theme was "New Brunswick" (because of New Brunswick Day). I don't have many wargames that include NB in some way, but pictured is Churchill, which features Lord Beaverbrook, and Bayonets & Tomahawks, which, as far as I know is the only wargame which features Fredericton as a space (under it's previous name, Pointe Saint-Anne which was raided and burned down by British/American Rangers)

There's no charge to attend, although I recommend dropping by our discord and arranging a game ahead of time to lower the chances you show up and find everyone already in a game.

Got a big mac on Saturday night and woke up at 4am Sunday with food poisoning. Still feeling queasy but mostly recovered now.

We took the trail to Dunbar Falls from Canada St. yesterday afternoon. We were pretty disappointed to see a lot of litter along the way and at the waterfall itself. Picked up what we could but there was some left as we didn’t think to bring a garbage bag with us. I’d love to know what you wish the people and systems responsible for supporting you had known or understood — whether that’s government, social workers, group home staff, foster parents, lawyers, schools, or anyone else who had a hand in your life and the lives of other vulnerable young people in care.
