I assume it's still a bit too early to start implementing them, but I'm a bit shocked they didn't do a Persona Collab alongside Arknights as some sort of big Persona themed cross promotion, then again it's not like we've had Fate ZZZ or Genshin.

Short answer, not really.
Long answer, the plot is just kinda bland, certainly a far cry from what you'd expect from the current P5X story quality, the best thing about it is probably the hangout scene for each S.E.E.S member, it expands their personality a bit more beyond what P3R did.
Also, if you want the collab story to feel more natural, play the main story up until Riko joins your team, as she is the one who invites the protag to Port Island.2

you dont need to do p5x to do previous collab events though collab stories aint exactly the main priority so the story is rather bland but if you mean p5x story after palace 2 it picks up afterwards because of the main persona writers which makes it peak though gacha gameplay still in there though which bothers some people coming from persona games

There's usually a minimum stage requirement before you get to do all of tge content (though it's basically tutorials so it hobestly doesn't matter), but if you start now you'll have more than enough time to easily clear the event in ~6 months

One of the better ones within the gacha game space. The only issue i ever really encounter is elitism ( though only brought up when the topic involved comparison), tbh still better than the numerous mindless dramas in other fandoms. They're chill most of the time.

It's fairly welcoming and there's also very little tribalism relative to other gachas.
Side note, you've probably already figured it out but this P3 collab is on the CN server which is roughly 6 months ahead. We can expect to see this hit global around Feb 27, so if you start now you have plenty of time to save. The main story + archived side stories will easily give you over 300 pulls and you only need 90 to hit hard pity for this collab (technically 120, but there's 30 free pulls in the event).

It's because the global/JP/KR servers for Arknights are published by Yostar, unlike Endfield which is directly published by the devs Hypergryph. So far it doesn’t seem like Yostar are interested in a Steam release.

Arknights fandom is one of the most chill fandom ever
Gameplay is extremely doable with low rarity. Dupes meaningless. No pvp. So, people are very unlikely to be elitist over meta unit and just play with whatever unit they like, even the "bad" ones.

When I was new I asked so many questions in the subreddit and got good answers. Only thing is to make sure you make posts in the right megathreads or else mods nuke your ass. But it helps to keep the sub organized and unlike other megathreads on gacha subreddits, you’ll usually get an answer

In my experience Arknights is one of the least problematic fandoms and very open to helping people. Also heavily recommend watching eckogen or KyostinV's clears on youtube if you ever have any real stage clearing issues. You'll soon be hearing "activate Melantha skeel" in your sleep, lol.

do I need to play Arknights up to a certain point in game just to play this collab or is it available from the get-go?
For accessing collab, you probably will need to reach stage 1-10 but this can be done in an hour. Even less if you skip story. So pretty much nothing.
For beating collab story, your squad should be around Elite 1 Lv. 50 so it will take some time but you can borrow unit from friends which can help a lot with beating enemies or boss. You just won't be able to auto-grind those stages

Side stories are getting opened on 1-10 which includes collabs.
To open "everything", yes, you need to finish Ch. 3 but this is irrelevant if you are only interested in collab. And you don't open all at once by reaching 3-8. You open most of the things by getting to this point

I swear, there's just so much to glaze about AK because it just has so much integrity as a game, and hypergryph too. Its game design is top notch, the extra game modes like the is roguelites are the best in the gacha space, they actually feel like standalone games. The game does have powercreep, but it's only to the extent of character kits and not hp inflation and whatnot. There is mostly no required synergies except for one edge case, so you can just pull who you like. There's no yaoguangs, hyacines, dahlias, etc.
Meanwhile, the current HSR patch is so ABHORRENT. "Lore-justified" hp inflation, new debuff modifiers that basically says "you can only play this team archetype or else you do no damage" despite the actual enemy line up and mechanics being suited for many teams. I'm so tired on how they handled Remembrance, Elation, and soon the Finality path. On top of that, current patch only has TWO EVENTS with a short main story + side quest. Powercreep and hp inflation has been so insane ever since Amphoreus and it's mindboggling how it's still speeding up.

Ikr. Based on the answers I gathered so far OG Arknights is so generous and the gamemode are designed around 4 star units which is a plus so I wont feel pressured pulling for the unit just to clear the game
I still adore my E6S5 Herta (f2p btw) but the way Mihoyo is handling the game right now even she is not enough to tether me to the game, Ill just watch it in youtube

Arknights is kind but not generous, and is why Endfield gacha is as suffering as it is. The game doesn't exactly shower you with pulls, and that stings a lot with collabs, and 3 seasonal limited banner.
For one thing, a banner for one 6-star only releases once for their debut, and shoved into standard pool afterwards(good luck pulling), if your unlucky, it's 120+however many more pulls. For limited banner its 300 pulls to spark current banner+past banner(older ones with discounts). Oh, and there are no guarantee for 5-stars outside of limited banners.
In exchange, however, is the Recruitment System, allowing many older units to be pulled as a lucky catch. Some are okay, a lot will still carry games, just not "braindead" levels as recent ones. This system is free, and readily available to players.
is the Yellow Certificate shop, which will eventually showcase recent~ish ops, both 5 and 6-stars. "Recent" means 2~ish years. The currency for that can be gained mostly through pulling for ops, but there is a free low-income through the Recruitment system.
The game works because of the gameplay, and the gacha works because the gameplay does not severely punish players for playing their own operators. Arknights has all their core synergizing with each other.

some of these debut banners get reruns, while others do not. the limited banners being a notable example of ones that don't. but any side story banner does get a rerun a year later. and worst case scenario all non limited operators are made available in the gold certificate store after about two years. so there are still ways to get older operators reliably.

collabs are always available after the tutorial(and story) in fact all banners are so you wont ever miss out on characters and the only characters who require you to progress are the ones who are associated with the chapter but if not you could technically play every event without going post episode 1 lol
Im still playing HSR as well and I love Aventurine waveflair but man is my motivation dead otherwise
Arknights has been my goat for almost 6 years I would never drop it even if the world ended, the devs do care and lowlight(ceo) has his own public bilibili account where you can learn about his thoughts and process on whatever is going on the game right now.

Yes drop HSR asap, in terms of gameplay and aesthetic variety AK is vastly superior compared to whatever HSR is. Not an /s or /j. Unless hoyo is your preferred flavor or something or you want a braindead turnbased gameplay.
Edit: I meant drop it for a while getting started with AK bc it wouldn't be a breeze towards midgame atleast, you'll have to watch lots of vids, opened tabs for lots of wiki pages or old reviews of operators, or even a dedicated tab for recruitment tags website. You will have less time for HSR which is a mostly an afk game or minigame chore anyway.
And the community is more mature and aged up but can be frustrating at times with doctor glaze and goonish fanarts in their sub, and also the ones that offer advice to round up all your lower star ops as priority and not touch your 6 star as a newbie, please don't listen to those old relics. Otherwise, much more tolerable fandom than what I have mostly seen from hsr subs which you can tell right away full of younger (and some manchild) people which contributes mostly nonsense topics and bad memes or endless doomplains in their sub. Discord even worse.

I, for sure, know that all the frank things I've said above will get me lots of downvotes AND I DON'T REALLY CARE LOL. Badmouthing hoyo when they have eyes everywhere can be a risky but an honest endeavor tbh. Kudos to you lol
AK is not an easy game, not even newb friendly unless you rerolled for a "broken operator plus borrowing a friend's broken operator" combo, newbies are heavily punished for not trying to learn the fundamentals of the game. Very far cry from all the bruteforce one can do to reach anomaly arbitration phase in hsr, and not to mention the farming for mats is generally harder too than what you've experienced in HSR, but NO RELICS or relic rng atleast.
Adapt to the new pace AK will be demanding from you if you somehow clicked and learned to like the nature of a tower defense roguelite game, and it will be very rewarding once you have a lategame account later that you can just chill around with.

I do recommend starting a bit earlier to:
a) accumulate pulls and guarantee the units in the collab,
b) accumulate OP and get all the skins,
c) level up a team strong enough to breeze through the event & watch all its story without issue,
d) refamiliarize with the games' tricks to not struggle while the clock is ticking (collab events only last two weeks).

For anyone wondering what's Arknights.
Well, it's a tower defense game. But you use unique characters with abilities instead of towers. And there are ground units, assassins, crazy map mechanics (like cannons that bombard you), giant bosses, and so on.
It's pretty big deal in Asia and has been active for almost 7.5 years already. And it spawned a 3D sequel that is a mix of Factorio + Xenoblade called Arknights: Endfield (epic trailer) set 152+ years later, in the same universe but in a new planet (people got there through a Stargate).
As you can probably already intuit, it has a lot of lore, world-building & massive story (3 times longer than the Bible & counting).
And you can watch an anime adaptation of the 1st Arc!

- Season 1 is Arknights: Prelude to Dawn. Here is its (Opening) by Reona and its (Ending) by Duol.
- Season 2 is Arknights: Perish in Frost. Here is its (Opening) by Myth & Roid and its (Ending) by Reona (first version).
- Season 3 is Arknights: Rise from Embers. Here is its (Opening) by Reona and its (Ending) by Hana Itoki.
Synopsys: Takes place in a world where people have (for spoiler reasons) characteristics of animals, mythological beings, angels and demons. And they are immersed in a lot of problems: some mundane (war, slavery, economic downturns, debt), some not (hyper-evolving sea monsters,reality-distorting "demons" from the North, feuds among dragon god siblings, sky being false, etc).
Anime covers part of main story, where a "mineral" is causing a deadly, incurable disease. Those affected by it are heavily discriminated, or even exterminated. Thus, some people try to do something to alleviate, revert that inequality, or find a way to solve the issue. But their cruel world can put them in opposing camps.
There is, however, a light at the end of this dark tunnel. But everyone is going to suffer before getting there.
The series places BIG importance on the weight of emotions & ideals. And how they can save us, or destroy us.
Main protagonist is Amiya. She's the leader of Rhodes Island Pharmaceuticals, [Arknights: Babel] adoptive daughter of the Doctor & Theresa and [Arknights: Main story] heir to the latter's Black Crown, making her the Lord of Fiends.
Your POV character is The Doctor, though. A holder of many mysteries that are slowly revealed. They act as battlefield commander & researcher, and parent figure of Amiya.

They recently updated the reading mode for cut scenes; you can adjust a bit the font size.
That said, fonts elsewhere (UI in Operators section, etc) remains the same. But it does look bigger in the new PC client as Umu9002 said.

Oh and you do? If you do, I'm sure you know that WuWa HAS done a Collab with Persona 3, Persona 5, Resident Evil, Pragmata, Haikyuu, Sonic etc. which were just bike skins and OST.

The last collab specialist has an ability that lets her keep being alive after defeat and can be used multiple times during the fight. And that was just a 5 star. I can't imagine how broken Mr. Door will be.

You mean Mutsumi? "Not dying" is just what Dollkeepers do. Like, it's the whole point of the class, she ain't special in that regard.
Unless you mean the "can't die during Fever". Which isn't Mutsumi's, it's part of Sakiko's S3. And they do die once Fever is over.

I... Haven't been back for a while and I haven't rolled other better unit since Ave. I'm still mentally working on terms of types, I don't know about subtypes that much.

FYI, Makoto is also a Dollkeeper, thematically correct with his abilities tying to death and rebirth. That subtype is quite fun to play around with, you can drop them on relatively dangerous choke points with minimal sustain and they'll hold it for you.

My gut feeling is it's very unlikely. If HG will do another Persona collab, it would be of 4 or 5 instead of a repeat of 3.

we'll just have to see what Lowlight will cook for another Persona collab. If it ends up as 2nd P3 collab, I imagine it happens in Iberia (Spain equivalent), specifically Inquisition HQ (since the inquisitors use rapier and deagle)

Makoto for sure has a more compelling case for 6, but if they absolutely had to make another 6 it's have to be Aigis since she was the star of her own DLC.
But since she's already here as a 5* it's unlikely they'll have a P3 Part 2.

Thank god the choice for 6 star wasn't a shitshow like what happened to DnD collab with mc Laios being a trash meme unit, and the operator that actually aged the best was 5 star Chuck instead of super mid Marceille.
Makoto is fine, as long as he can vastly outperform that recent not-Chiave dude whose name I can't already remember, in terms of def shred or armor pen which is canon with his abilities in his native game. Yukari should have more supportive role, I hope the pv is just showing her damage skills but it would be real shame if she can't heal or gigabuff. Aegis is whatever, idc about her.
