Now that I think about it, its kinda crazy just how much Genshin can pull since they usually release 1 new unit per patch

Yeah genshin is the only gacha that can do a old rerun character and still make money.

genshin gave up the idea of a patch without a new 5 star 3 years ago, July-August 2023 was the last Genshin patch with all reruns and no new 5 stars

The 6-week patch cycle means that sometimes the monthly revenue charts only capture the final week of a new character's banner + 2nd half rerun banner. So even if they do a new character every patch, sometimes monthly revenue doesn't always reflect revenue from the new character (since most banner revenue is heavily frontloaded).
