A Japanese Endfield player identified an especially interesting monetization problem: the gacha can feel harsh for F2P, while the power gained from duplicates can simultaneously feel too small to make heavy spending attractive. In other words, the monetization can annoy low spenders without sufficiently rewarding whales.

Long gaps between updates → players save free pulls instead of spending.

Not enough new content → some players stop playing.

Factory gameplay is niche → many players don't enjoy it long-term.

Characters work well without many duplicates → less reason to whale.

Not enough skins/cosmetics → fewer things to spend money on.

And this is why I can't help but laugh a bit when generosity is dragged into the discussion. It's still business after all.

In Japan, Endfield used to make 854 million yen from mobile alone. But last month, its revenue dropped to 253 million yen. That drop is crazy 😖

If that keeps up the field is about to end.
