is it too soon to say that endfield is past the point of no return? unless they have a major rebrand soon, then I don’t see them going up anytime soon. even with wuwas mess of a launch they were able to bounce back with 2.x/rinascita, but endfield has been stuck in wuling and it clearly has not been working so far from a revenue standpoint

Honestly I feel like Wuwa wouldn't have rebounded as much as it did without its army of ex-genshin CC and disgruntled Hoyo players that were willing to overglaze the game and excuse everything through it's entire 1.x period to keep it's presence in an all time high until it finally managed to take off, which is something Endfield does not have.

(For the record I'm not saying Wuwa did not deserve it after doing a lot of efforts in its 2.0 version, but very high, very invested media presence certainly can help).

WuWa nailed one thing that matters most: Combat.

The story was mid in 1.0 however they nailed the core combat experience that kept players long enough + the reputation of PGR that people thought they could claw themselves out of a ditch.

Also 1.1 was a fairly sizeable region expansion and the story quality immediately jumped up quite a bit.

Endfiled does not nail anything that matters & flip flops too many systems at a medicore to good level without excelling at anything. However the game is optimized to the teeth and is visually stunning, but these two aspects don't carry you to the top alone.

Story did not really get that much better from what I heard, Content seems to be not good enough, the gacha angered many people due to being convoluted, the story although wuwas was bad Endfield 1.0 is worse than that, all the tutorials with the factory is driving people away, arknights players being disappointed

They surely build a loyalish playerbase but they fumbled hard imo mostly because they neither leaned into the tactical aspects arknights players love nor into anything else & the endresult is nothing is standing out.

yeah, i think the main problem with endfield is that they try too hard to appeal to every player, which is good in theory but in practice almost every element of the game is half baked and mediocre

the story is fine. the combat is fine. the exploration is fine. the factory is fine. everything about the entire game is "fine," but it has no real strength or selling point which is really making it struggle against other games who have already defined selling points that they do better than endfield

They got optimization issues, mostly on mobile, that were only dealt with (supposedly) with 3.6 patch.

While some players were noting improvements, my Dimensity 8300 is still powerpointing. And even 1.X maps are suffering what used to be 3.X maps issues.

Of course their base could call us liars even if I had to resort to using low end mods (deviceprofiles and engine files) and still suffer.

theyre making tons of money, its hard to think it will ever reach hsr/genshin levels but its still doing well enough, wuwa 2.x was a completely brand new thing, endfield hasnt done that at all yet, but leasing that massive office building to expand and getting over 500mil in the first 6months is more than enough to show theyre confident

the devtalks and streams/videos show theyere clearly more focused on making the base game better rn than to try and completely expand into completely new areas etc, you can see this with how they keep making more diferent types of content, adding a ton of QoL every patch, and talking about their objectives like adding more replayable content or how some of the feedback is already in the works but takes time etc, can see all this in the gamescom devtalk.

and yea like the other commenter said, the army of ex hoyo players carried the game a lot in pure spite of genshin and hsr, enfield only has haters everywhere cuz the game wasnt even out and ppl already were shitting on it, while the market has also been way more diversified now to have such a big base as genshin or wuwa did

The trend looks bleak but there's no changes to the core strategy. It feels as if HG is not concerned by this.

The next 2 patches are business as usual (maybe Typhoeus' side story will be different according to Gamescom panel /cope).

They decided to invested into Gamescom booth (largest) and a new office building next year. Also hired a very popular community manager recently though we haven't seen much difference yet. I am very curious what is going through Haimao and other executives' mind about Endfield situation.

It's too soon I guess but also extremely worrying that it has shown signs of struggle even before August, quite early in its lifetime.

They can turn things around if they quickly pivot towards regaining trust of AK community, but there's zero signs the developers even know something's wrong.

Targeting more casual waifu audience was a severe mistake and they don't seem to be aware of it and has not communicated they are aware of the issues at all.

I read this and was like "What would it take to get me back into Endfield?", and I honestly can't think of what they could do at this point.
