so my college is gonna start soon and wanted to know if should sell my pc to get a macbook air base model m5
the only thing which is holding me back is the non gaming compartment in macbook because me and my friends hop of on discord every night and play some shit but i really need a laptop for uni i am a accounting major

I have the general gist of what GHz are and what they do but I’m still stuck on understanding them fully.

I know that 3.5 GHz is just 3.5 Billion clock cycles per second and those handle instructions. This is hyperbole, but let’s say the CPU was sent 4 instructions, would they do those 4 instructions 3.5 Billion times a second or is it 3.5 Billion chances at completing that instruction?

Am I missing something or am I taking it too literal? I’m having a difficult time visualising how that process would actually work.

I purchased a windows activation key in order to get full functionality on My new PC (I just installed the free version when building it) but i found a key for a really good deal on groupon and when putting in the key it's not working, the website that sold the key to me is actually really helpful in responding to my emails but my question is:
Will windows 11 Pro effect my PC negatively if i'm using it for gaming?(it seems i bought windows 11 pro) I'm not sure what the distinction is, i just remember when building my PC i watched a youtube vid and for downloading windows the video said pro is for office use or "professional" use, but I use my PC primarily for gaming.

My elderly father stupidly gave details to obvious scammers. I jumped in and stopped him but the computer sign in screen was saying blocked or something along those lines. I assume the scammers on the phone were about to ask for money for it but that’s when I took the phone and essentially told them to fuck off and turned the WiFi off. I know abit about computers and built my own by I am far from an expert. Is the clean install of windows enough? We’ve called the banks and cancelled the cards and changed a lot of passwords including the Microsoft one is there anything else we need to do/worry about. The scammers seemed like amateurs in a call centre and haven’t accessed banks or the Microsoft account it seems

So, i found out recently in my inbox August 29 that i got a message from claude in one of my sub google account and not my main one that a malware has been stealing my login sessions in my mac or other computers (windows Os) i went to activity and check CPU and try to see if there is any unusual programs running a background and there was nothing, I know mac has xprotect that runs in the background each time an application is running. This worries me quite a bit since a question arises like how do Claude even know i have malware in my mac? and how do i fix this? do i need a dedicated malware/virus scanner? since my mac m1 with the latest software has already r powerful built-in security systems that is i guess safer than considering windows.

How often do you move your monitor/pc? I’m moving and I’m kind of worried on them breaking on the move. What are some tips so nothing breaks?

I need to connect one PC with an RX 9060 XT to two TVs:

• 42" OLED in my bedroom
• Second TV in the living room, with a cable running through the wall

Both TVs use HDMI, but my GPU only has 1x HDMI and 2x DisplayPort.

Does a DisplayPort 2.1 -> HDMI 2.1 adapter exist that supports 4K 120 Hz, HDR and VRR?

I don't want to sacrifice any image quality compared to a direct HDMI 2.1 connection. Streaming isn't an option, nor is any kind of lossy compression.

After updating the BIOS on my Dell Inspiron 15, the laptop fan started running at full speed continuously, even when the system is idle and CPU usage is low. Restarting has not changed the behavior. What troubleshooting steps should I try to determine whether this is a BIOS setting, thermal-sensor, driver, or firmware issue? Are there any safe diagnostics or settings I should check before considering a BIOS rollback?

I've seen a few tutorials on how to handle it but I'm using the latest version of both windows and edge and none of the methods worked,

I have changed my preferred download drive to my hard drives, download everything on my hard drives, I use to clean disk tool thing, I empty my recycling, I tried to do the "change drive letter and paths..." thing as well but nothing seems to actually do anything and I don't know what else I can do. I only have like 3 apps downloaded on my Local Disk and they only take up like 17GB of storage so I have no idea what the other like 65GB of apps are???

I'm not sure exactly if this is the right place to post this, but i cant find a real answer to this myself.

Say i have a 120hz monitor but i can only run a game at 100 fps. To my understanding frame generation at minimum must generate 1 frame per real frame. Does this mean in my case if i were to enable frame generation i would only be seeing 60 real frames and 60 fake frames or is the software smart enough to prioritise real frames if there is overhead? In the case that it forces a rough 50/50, would my input latency only match 60 fps too?

I have been having some serious trouble with it this, l have watched like 20 videos to try and figure it out, l tried to contact steam and got no response so this is kind of my last resort. To give some specific info l have a m4 Mac air and I have it connected to my monitor through an hdmi adapter. I have an Xbox series x controller and I have steam download and I have Minecraft download and paid for. What I can't seem to figure out is how to use my controller in game. I have a layout downloaded from community layouts for controller settings on Java. ( this might be the problem but I have tried multiple and none work at all). I haven't purchased anything on steam yet, I saw somewhere that you need to purchase 5$ worth of content to gain access to community features but I don't think that's is either. Can anyone help me with this issue?

I have a Dell Latitude 5400, and I’m having some issues with the touchpad.

I can move the cursor normally using the touchpad, and I can use a two-finger tap to right-click, but I cannot single-tap or double-tap to left-click. Other Precision Touchpad gestures also aren’t working.

I’ve checked Windows Settings, and all the touchpad options and gestures are turned on.

Has anyone faced this issue on a Latitude 5400? Is this a driver issue, BIOS setting, or could there be something wrong with the touchpad hardware?

I have decided to start using an iCloud account instead, so I can get push notifications in the native IOS mail app.

I plan to do this over the course of several weeks, as my Gmail address has run my life for about 15 years.

Recently I've noticed my PSU has been causing sudden shutdowns when (I think) under decently heavy load. Honestly it feels extremely random because sometimes I can play games for hours and then sometimes it wont last ten minutes.

So, I obviously have to get a new one because afaik these are signs of an old PSU.

I don't exactly have the money for that at the moment so what are some things I can do to temporarily circumvent this issue?

I've tried using MSI afterburner to no real avail, but maybe there's just something I'm missing

Maybe, I should just not use it at all. Any suggestion, even one saying "hey idiot, you're an idiot" is welcome.

This includes possibly just being wrong about what I have to do. Believe me I've tried a lot of things, but maybe there's stuff I've missed or have to recheck.

as the title suggests I have been working with this user for the past two days trying to figure out what exactly is causing this issue - I tested with another machine and it’s the same results

The troubleshooting steps that I tried
- reconnect the drive
- restarted windows explorer
- Reset the Folder Views
- Clear the Local Offline Files Cache
Not sure if it’s a AD issue or possibly a group policy issue

hello, im currently emptying my cloud storage and putting old photos and videos on my laptop. as i deal with all the unzipping of folders and merging them i encountered multiple times the option to replace or ignore files that have the same name. after replacing them quite a few times then ignoring it once « to see if it does the same » i realised that maybe i shouldve verified the files first… so i did and realised that i deleted a few hundred files that were certainly different.
i think for the last one that i chose to ignore then i deleted that leftover folder i might not be able to retrieve the « doubles » and its ok cos it wasnt much. but can all the ones i chose to replace over be retrieved like we can sometimes do for word documents for exemple?

Suddenly my wifi stopped showing , tried restarting and nothing happened? What do I do ? I got lenevo loq, please help me , no traces of it in vantage or device mamager
