When turning left here onto ballybane road should it be treated as 1 or 2 lanes ?

I travel this road home daily and the amount of times (including today) who overtake sometimes 3 cars and position themselves side by side the white car

It always makes a fuckery of both the person at the front of the que pulling out at the same time, and the person treating it as 2 lanes????

Browsed both floors of the ladies section on Sunday. Several staff members on the floor in different areas. All them looked at me and my partner but absolutely nobody said as much as "hi". There was no music on either floors. The only sound was the staff members chatting & gossiping to each other. It felt like walking around a funeral home where the family of the deceased would rather if you left. Those sorta vibes. I suppose they're entitled not to greet us but it's not a very welcoming environment. Not that it should matter, but I want to say that neither of us were in cheap looking clothing or rough looking (certainly not my fiancée at least).

Has anyone else had this experience or are we outliers?

I was in London there last week and I was drinking at a bar just off Bishopgates St and a guy arrives in in soccer gear. I ended up talking to him and asked how is there a soccer facility so close some of the most expensive land in the world?

There was a site that had been cleared and they have been negotiations going on for years (6-8, I think) about what they are going to build. Westminister Council have a scheme called the 'Meanwhile Scheme'. This scheme takes land which is presently been unused and puts it to work for community or small businesses...

They(Powerleague) approached the Council and got this while things are going on. Guy in the pub said we had multiple rumours of them getting moved on but they are still there.

What seems to happen is they can identify unused facilities and just spend a limited amount of money making do something.. He said that making trails through over grown parks, eBike tracks...

So I was thinking, could our council who must have land or approach someone with a land bank and look for garden allotments? This could be done in Knocknacarra and on the east side too..

(I have been told) Allotments are in high demand and the Council havn't enough (77 for the whole city).. No planning needed.

There benefits have been lauded for years, they offer a source of food, camaraderie, it develops and strengthens communities...

It is just a thought... We do have a lot of land that is presently unused and we have been looking at it for years... There is so many ideas...

And don't stop there... if we could have it for derelict premises as well..

Anyone know of any gyms near Salthill that have a pool and is not too expensive. I hate going off google reviews as sometimes they are outdated. Just looking for a monthly membership.

Would anyone be interested in a walking group? Maybe for Sunday mornings or something. Or if anyone knows of anything already in place?

Been living away for a long time and heading home for the first time in 5 years. Looking to have as many sausages for breakfast as I can.

Where’s the best place in town to go where I can basically eat just sausages and toast? I’m not looking for a full or mini Irish as I don’t want to waste precious eating time on rashers/pudding/beans etc.

Push comes to shove and I’ll just go to a deli in the morning but it would be nice to have somewhere to sit in where the other half could eat what they want as well.

We have an old gas cooker, attached to one of those gas cylinder. We think one of the rings on the top is leaking gas slightly, so no longer use that one. Do you know anyone in Galway who repairs such things, or even sells gas cookers anymore?

I’m starting a new job on Tuesday which is the 1st. It’s working in a bookies. I worked in a bookies before and I actually enjoyed it cause it’s a lot of working on a computer which I’m quite good at. I also have an interview for GTA film and tv production. If I get the course I’ll be starting on the 14th. I have been on the job hunt for a while unfortunately but I didn’t think it through that I can’t do a full time job while doing a plc. I stupidly thought I would only be in college like two days a week, but it’s actually 15 hours. The plc would be really beneficial for me as I don’t know many in Galway and lack abit of social life.

Do I A) leave the plc for next year and work the bookies.

B)Try to make it work by going to college like 2 days a week and then going work.

C) Tell my job now that I have the plc coming up even tho I didn’t say it in the interview because I thought I would be able to balance it and see if we can work together to figure out how to plan it.

D) Just leave the job in like a week when college starts on the 14th and try to get a part time job.

I would feel pretty unfortunate about leaving the job as it’s right beside where my gf lives and I like working on a computer. But as someone who has dropped out of college in the past I feel this course is something I’m extremely interested in.

I miss Goyas, their buttercream cupcakes were the best.

I’m struggling to find any other good (not even great) ones. For some reason most cafes and bakeries are using cheap processed tasting icing, tastes vile. I got one the other day and the icing was the weirdest texture, almost like a soft plastic, jellyish texture, couldn’t eat it.

I'm coming back for my final year in NUIG and have got a house outside spiddal village, which means for the first time I'm looking at getting a bike - so I need a few pointers.

Firstly: is it feasible at all cycling from Spiddal into the city? Or only with an ebike? I know the main road can be a bit dodgy, would you be better off taking backroads through moycullen bogs til Furbo?

Otherwise, I'd be using the bike to get from my house to the bus stop in Spiddal, but is there anywhere to actually park a bike in Spiddal village, and what's the probability of it getting nicked?

Overall, do you think it's worth getting an ebike? And if so where in town can you get one for a decent price?

This is all totally new to me so I really appreciate it!!

Recently moved to Ireland and I’m commuting between Galway and Tuam. The road has roadworks and is signed for 50 kph, however when I do this I get beeped at, overtaken and verbally abused.

Just wanted to see what’s going on, am I doing the right thing?

I’m on UK plates for another couple of weeks but the vehicle is being registered here etc so don’t know if it’s that.
