Question advice for a hamster at the animal shelter i volunteer at?
i work with the smalls at the animal shelter i volunteer at, and we usually have guinea pigs and rabbits, which i’ve gotten a hang of. However we received a hamster the other day and i suspect we are about to get another one. I think they may be in for a longer stay because when people adopt a pet it’s usually a larger animal, as they usually just opt to buy something like a hamster for 25 bucks at a petsmart, which is really sad. i’d like to make his quality of life as good as possible. at the moment he doesn’t have a wheel, which i know is an essential item. the ones we have in storage that have been donated are either too big or too small. there isn’t anything i can do about his tank size for now but i tried to clutter up his tank as much as possible today. are there any essentials i need? how do i make it more enriching? i just need advice and a list of stuff i can potentially buy from my own pocket because i truly feel awful for the little guy. thanks for reading!
