Gameplay Quickmatch
I am a new player and want to understand is QM filled with bots? I haven’t seen any at the start, but now it feels like I have at least 3 per both teams, they all do the same things movement and focus on stuff feels robotic

The only bots I've seen are the ones that go to base and relog back in to farm experience afk for the accounts people sell.
Can you share one of your games you think people are acting like bots in?

Maybe it’s real players then, don’t want to sound like a douche, but they looked questionable. I’ll share if I stumble upon them again.

No judgement, im just curious what behavior looks suspicious for you.

Jaina was killing a camp with just auto attacks, not moving, not using spells, died and then went right back at it, Qhira was moving to the same camp, but as soon as Jaina threw her auto attack, Qhira stopped for a 0.5s and went the other way
Edit: that qhira movement looked like queued movement input

It's probably someone new to mobas or someone intentionally throwing the game.

Gotcha, thanks for the reply, was wondering whether this game has a bot issue (played lots of OSRS, I’ve seen my share of those) but as you said it’s probably a new player or a player not as invested as I am

There are bots designed specifically to throw games and farm experience but those bots aren't "playing the game." They're mostly centered around joining games, sitting afk in base, logging back in if the game tries to afk you out, losing the game so the mmr/rank goes down and to collect some passive experience points along the way. Then those accounts are sold to people that want to smurf or just want the better queue times that come with a lower rank. All of that being said, ive noticed less of those bots around these days.
Side note, ive been thinking of booting up my old osrs account. How's the state of the game right now?

Haven’t played in a while actually and don’t know when you played, but it’s an amazing game nonetheless. Played ironman, hence bots/item value fluctuations didn’t have an impact on the game.

I first played when I was a child, lost my account and picked it up during COVID. The Ironman experience is what's tempting me to come back

So after covid this game just got better. For me personally it’s the best game, but it requires just too much time (especially ironman), however that time is therapeutic! So if you want to come back to the game there is no better time, on top of that raids 4 is coming this year I think, should be a blast.

Your overall MMR, what day/time you are playing and what region all have an impact on the playerbase you encounter in qm.
This past thursday evening I dont know what the hell was up with the playerbase in NA because 8 out of 10 games I had people leaving after the first couple minutes or doing that annoying thing where they keep coming back so you dont even get a bot and they just sit at base.
Last night same time same region felt like a fever dream. People actually willing to play the game they queued for and ggs and not me having to remind toxic players it wasnt my job to humor their undiagnossed mental illness.

Noted, I will probably then spend some time in AI to understand certain heroes I want to play and just play ranked, QM had other issues I wasn’t fan of, so probably this is the way

This game has highs and lows. The highs make this game so addicting and amazing. The low points can make you question your existence.

QM just averages MMR and goes "lol welp good luck".
So can often end up two teams that are technically "gold". But one is all golds and the other is like bronzes with diamonds or whatever.
So can end up with insanely terrible people that don't know they can dodge siege giant shots and just die to them and you're supposed to carry them to victory.

At low levels, I think you do see bots. Once you get to upper bronze I think they go away.

There’s no bots even at low bronze. What you get are bunch of people who got no clue how to win a game

You definitely get bots, there's been multiple posts in the past with video evidence of bots and it was pretty heavily agreed upon.

those aren’t bots, just a dude alt tabbing to control different accounts.

With something like ~6k games in QM — I've never played with or against a bot.

Not sure how it is for the new player experience but mine isn't like that at all.
