Esports BlizzCon schedule contains potential janitor appearance and ambiguous deep dive for "legacy games"
Hello, I am here to bring you the latest Blizzcon HOTS update copium.
The schedule for Blizzcon has been released... (link here: https://blizzcon.com/en-gb/schedule/)
The two sessions I screenshotted are directly after the HOTS Classic Cup match.
Will "Custodians of Legacy Games" finally unveil the identity of our beloved janitor?
Will the "Classic Game Deep Dive" reveal anything new about our favourite dead MOBA?
The "classic Blizzard games" featured on that stage are Starcraft: Remastered, Starcraft II, Warcraft III and... HOTS. So I guess it's gotta be one of them. But they're definitely keeping *something* hidden for now.
Please post your conspiracy theories and hopes and dreams in the comments.
May the odds be ever in our favour, HOTS enjoyers

Sometimes i get bored and i start playing murky just to have fun. Especially when there is a butcher in opposite team and find out who is real prey lmao. Not always working but when it works its a pleasure. And also, how cancer can be murky

News [Update v0.3.0] HotS Replay Reader – Fixed replay parsing for recent patches
Hello everyone,
About two months ago, I shared a small hobby project I’ve been working on to learn C#: HotS Replay Reader.
I was honestly a bit intimidated to post it, but the feedback and kindness from this sub were incredibly heartwarming.
Thanks to your early bug reports and ideas, I was able to release a quick v0.1.1 shortly after.
Since then, I’ve kept working on it in my free time to fix some larger issues and add quality-of-life improvements.
Here is what’s new in v0.3.0:
What’s New:
Fixed Replay Parsing: Replays from HotS version 2.55.16.97039 and newer are now correctly parsed.
Chat messages: Chat messages from both teams are now displayed!
Auto Update: An auto-update functionality has been added.
Faster Setup: Data download from heroes-data and heroes-data2 is now much faster.
Compatibility: Added compatibility with the new Heroes.Element libraries and data.
Quick reminder of what the app does:
* Reads your HotS replay folders
* Shows teams, groups, winners, kills, and rewards
* Player tooltip with an estimated AFK timer
* Chat messages (can be translated if a DeepL API key is provided in the application properties)
* Scoreboard with a detailed estimated MVP score
* Talents and abilities panel
Download link:
https://github.com/Arthrose/HotsReplayReader/releases/download/v0.3.0/HotsReplayReader-v0.3.0.exe
The app is still just a humble learning experiment, so there might still be quirks (and I can still only test it on my European Battle.net account).
If you decide to give it a try or update it, please let me know if everything works fine or if you encounter any bugs! Thank you again for all the support.

Suggestion Suggestion: Profile tab where it keeps track of how many end-of-game medals you got of each, with filter for the mode. (Comp, quick, aram, etc)
"I've gotten my 500th mvp today!"
Kinda useless, but also fun.

Suggestion A well-known leaker just teased multiple new game reveals for BlizzCon. (Can anyone ask them about HOTS?)
galleryDoes anyone have an account on that website? Can you please ask the leaker about HOTS in that thread?

Discussion I might sound insane but, HoTS is kind of the custodian of blizz's classic games, are we back?

Call it hopium or whatever you want, but this just seems so strange when you think about it, a classic match, then something probably about all of Blizzard's classic games, and how they are being and will be maintained and boom, a deep dive about the remake/sequel of HoTS
If it does happen, one of the first new heroes will 100% be Lilith from D4

Fluff A tale of two QM team conversations.
When the game was loading, I heard the domino tower my son was building collapse. I quickly ran upstairs and gave him a big hug to calm him down. Once he was good, I went back to the game, missing the first minute and a half. I explained what happened and the team was supportive.
After the game, I promised to share the pictures of the finished domino structure and wanted to share our chat log for context. However, when I saw the full chat logs from both teams, I realized two very different experiences were happening, so I decided to share the whole chat log.
In one game, we have a team who's joking around, being silly, and talking about dominos, while the other team is full on raging at each other (with the Cassia trying her best to deflate).
As promised, I included some pictures of his structure. There was the massive base and the building up of the next two-three layers. Sadly, once he got near the top, the structure fell again(that type of design is perilous), so he decided not to build anymore. This time he took it like a champ and shrugged it off with a "it happens". That's my boy, brush it off son.
If he ever finishes it (not likely), I'll update this post with the final design.

Gameplay Artanis Mythic Quest
I think if there's any hero that desperately needs a mythic quest in the next patch is 100% Artanis.
In my opinion, it shouldn't be too difficult to implement either. Protector of Aiur is pretty bad on its own but if it were cooked into his kit it would dramatically change his potential.
I'm picturing something like this:
Protector of Aiur- removed, now baseline mythic quest.
Halfway quest: Achieve 100 extra damage, Artanis' twin blades now gain 25% extra range
Mythic quest: Achieve 200 extra damage, Artanis' twin blades now get 50% extra range
This also lets him achieve his Zealot Charge previously on 20 at a faster level if the Artanis player is any good, Zealot Charge is a huge game changer for Artanis which is why its understandably at level 20, but it also competes with other useful level 20 talents which I think starve Artanis for choice too much.
Furthermore to replace Protector of Aiur he could get a new lvl 1 talent
Footwork (or something like that): When at 50% or below HP Artanis moves at 20% extra speed
Amateur Opponent: Changed to 25% extra damage on non heroic targets- to compensate for the fact that he'd now have protector of aiur baseline
And lastly at level 20 he could use something like
Defiance: Instead of dying Artanis gets a shield equal to 75% equal to his health, long cooldown perhaps 100 seconds.
Just some thoughts!

Discussion Are Anduin bans in ranked tied to low ELO only ?
If it's not Brightwing, I see very very often Anduin getting banned in ranked. I'm talking about low ELO, Gold end to Bronze.
Is he that much of a threat ?

Discussion Cookiecutter
What are some characters people believe have what's known as a "cookie cutter" build. Meaning its just the best build in almost every circumstance.

Discussion Does Zagara's 'Serrated Spine' perk stack all damage or just autos?
It says 'attack damage'. I can't tell if that's all attacks or just basic attacks.

Teaching The best way to climb/improve is...
To treat matches as a series of transactions. The reason why it's so difficult for people to figure out their mistakes and where they went wrong is because they're not thinking and playing structurally. Oftentimes, how people play is kind of a wibbly wobbly ball of indecision chaotic movement rather than a straight line of intentions. For example, let's say you're in a 5v5 and your immediate instinct is to target the healer (even if it may be a poor decision), so your line of logic is
I see the healer -> find a way to kill the healer -> I somehow end up dying -> I blame my team.
When it should be like this:
I see Rehgar -> I'm going to apply damage to Diablo first to keep Rehgar occupied -> I'm going to bait Li Ming's attacks to put her abilities in cooldown -> the enemy team has popped their ults -> Rehgar is out of position -> I dive and die.
Notice how both led to death, but the second one is a series of decisions and trade-offs you can actually analyze productively. The first one involved you waffling back and forth with unproductive movements in skirmish instead of understanding what each movement is doing and how you can make them productive. Movement itself can be used to avoid damage and bait damage, but health itself is just a resource that you'll need to decide what to do with. There's no point in avoiding damage and staying alive if you're not getting anything out of it. In fact, you may be better off dead if it means baiting 3-4 ults out of the enemy team so your team can win the objective. Death too is merely a resource you can trade for a goal in mind.
Sometimes when I'm taking camps and the mercs are low on HP, I'll see 2-3 of my teammates rush over to help and they don't really understand what they're trading here: that's 10-15 seconds of travel time wasted for a camp I was going to cap myself. That 10-15 seconds of movement could have been put towards another lane to clear wave, extra siege damage on towers, or even setting up a 3v1 ambush on a lone jungler.
Your lines of transaction combat-to-combat should be straight, not wobbly. That way when you do lose matches, it's much easier to review what went wrong because those equations are cleaner: "I traded 20 seconds of camp instead of going to objective and that led to my team losing obj, which led to us losing a fort, which meant our team now had to trade additional time babysitting bottom lane from catapults, which meant less time for soaking and camps, which became a factor in why late game was so difficult for us."
There is no such thing as bad actions in the game, just bad transactions. Distracting and dying via a 1v5 can be smart if the tradeoff means your team caps boss and pushes core. Every action you do, even down to micro movements, should have consideration. Matches are really about resource trading.
So before capturing a camp, soaking a wave, joining your team for objective, think about what it costs you elsewhere. The cleaner you make your loss, the easier review and improvement becomes. Make defeat a series of intentions you put thought into each step of the way.
Edit: it might help to actually talk to yourself as you play and say out loud or at least mentally what you're doing. "I'm walking to this camp"/"I'm clearning bottom lane"/"I'm running away from the enemy team."
That way you're more conscious of your decisions and can better structure your line of thought as you play.
Instead of "How do I win this match," think "How do I lose perfectly?"
Improving means figuring out ways to make 'cooler' mistakes. Winning is ultimately just losing with style.
