fav place to chill! very steep hike but absolutely worth it

Was a bit of spontaneous hike, due to instable weather in other regions.

Praxmar to the peak, passing Oberstkogel was a moderate distance of 6km, but with a ~1300m elevation. The last 150m were a bit tricky, but the views paid off. Zischgeles peaks at 3004m and is one of the easier ones in Austria, compared to others.

From the peak I took the other side of the trail back down to Praxmar. The only people I met on the entire trail was at the crossroads to a hut, which is not common for such a popular peak on the weekend.

Today I hit up Wheeler Peak, Mount Walter, Simpson Peak, and Old Mike Peak.

This August I took advantage of a two-day weather window and an open spot at the Kredarica mountain hut to summit Mount Triglav.

I ascended via the Kot valley - one of the quieter trails on the mountain. I only passed three hikers all morning until reaching Dom Valentina Staniča for lunch. Got to Kredarica by early afternoon, just before some light showers rolled in. Kredarica was packed with mostly foreign hikers.

The next morning the final summit push took about 90 minutes each direction. Traffic jams on the narrow sections are a regular occurrence all summer long. Even on weekdays. The only way to avoid them is to start from the hut at 5 a.m. to go a see a summit sunrise. But it's honestly waiting is not that bad ~ you just rest, chat with other hikers and enjoy the spectacular views.

For the descent I took the Krma valley route - more walkable and easier on the legs, especially with fatigue setting in on day #2! Got lucky enough to hitch a ride back to the other trailhead which saved 2 hours of walking.

Total stats: 22 km & 1800 m elevation gain.

A misty, mystical hike down into the gorge of Turkey Run

About 2 months ago we (our dog, gf and I) were on a hiking+campervan holiday in Scandinavia. Well-known to most of you, but still very beautiful was the Preikestolen hike. It was June when we were there so we went up there very early in the morning (2 / 3 AM), which created an absolutely magical experience.

To be honest, the whole Scandinavia trip was really beautiful and I wanted to capture that in one trip overview.
I always record my hikes with my watch with GPX-files as a result. Hiked Prutas Peak today in Durmitor National Park. The trail isn't as popular as Bobotov Kuk but the views are gorgeous.

If you're starting from the south side and only planning on hiking to the peak and back then it's a moderate hike of around 4.5 hours with an elevation gain of around 750m.

If you're doing the longer loop then it's definitely on the harder side. Bring lots of water because there aren't any huts on the way.

Now time to recover and get ready for the mighty Bobotov Kuk tomorrow.

To find a hill in Finland, we had to go all the way to Lapland! 😁

Incredible nature, all these lichens, mosses and berries.

We stayed at one of the Postcard Cabin in Catskill and then decided to take our 3.5 years old for a quick hike!

I love hiking and recently have done the Linville Gorge loop, Grayson Highlands loop + Mt Rogers, and Moore's Wall at Hanging Rock SP, but am curious if anyone knows another hike that features unique views and landscape similar to those. I would really enjoy some good bouldering and unconventional climbing.

P.S. I am saving Grandfather trail for me and my girlfriend to do at a later date.

The best times to spend your day are walking or exercising amidst the breathtaking scenery of the High Atlas Mountains, specifically Toubkal, in the early morning. The atmosphere is absolutely delightful; the morning breeze carries a strong, fragrant aroma emanating from the juniper trees. How beautiful are the stunning natural views amidst the mountainous landscape, as seen in the picture.

It’s my birthday next week so I decided to book a late minute trip away for some me time and tick something off my bucket list at the same time.

We started at 2am and took a slow walk up- getting to the summit around 5am!

Visibility was poor on the walk up due to fog and cloud cover and very cold and windy at the summit.

Although we didn’t see the sunrise at the summit- we waited a while and as we descended there was a break in the clouds and we were just lucky enough to catch it.

Absolutely loved it and will definitely be doing more- just wish it wasn’t 5 hrs away 😞

My 50th birthday is coming next year, my wife and I discussed going on an epic trip to celebrate.

I am having trouble deciding between these contenders

• Everest Base Camp
• Inca trail or Salkatnay Trek & Machu Pichu
• Milford Track
• W trek

These are all things I want to do and hope to eventually do, but I’m having a tough time deciding on which to do first I guess.

Hey everyone, I'm planning on getting my first winter mountaineering boots but I'm a total rookie when it comes to winter boots. I know there is a very cool guide pinned but I would really appreciate if I could get some feedback. I am so far torn between 3 Scarpa boots. I will list the boots before talking about the conditions in which I'm planning to climb. The Zodiac Tech (either the LT or just the Zodiac Tech model), Ribelle HD and Mont Blanc GTX (not the Pro model).

I will usually use it for winter mountaineering and snow routes on peaks around 3000m to 3500m. Occasionally I might try my chances on 4000 meter ones in winter. I am also planning on doing some 5000+ summer climbs.

So here are my questions.

• Which boot should I get for these listed conditions? Are the Zodiac and Ribelle too weak for these situations?
• I am also curious as to whether the Mont Blancs would be too heavy for heights such as these? It says 2,160 grams (4.76 lbs). For comparison from what I could find the Ribelle HD is 1,390 grams (3 lb 1.0 oz) and the Zodiac is 1,360 grams (3 lb 0 oz). Will it be overkill?
• I am also planning to wear thick merino socks and I have a bit wide feet so should I size up? I'm usually wearing a 43 EU. Should I go for a 44 or 44,5 EU? I'm sure it would've been better to have my exact measurements but getting an idea is also fine by me.

I’m hiking the Enchantments in a day, and from what I read was to bring a water filter. I’d love some recommendations of some water filters that aren’t slow because we don’t have a ton of time to spare.

Just wondering if anyone knows generally how conditions might be like for Yubeng in Early March?

We are planning for a trip in 2027 and would love to do the Glacier and waterfall hikes from town but I’m a bit worried we’ll be snowed out / the hikes might be closed.

The path was amazing and definitely one of the most interesting hikes I’ve done. The hike is really narrow in places and got really annoying, but was well worth the effort, especially at the spout. The wave powered geyser is definitely very different from many sights. Really insane and should be on your bucket list for hiking in the Avalon peninsula.
