Help! Honda grom randomly losing spark

It runs normally but then it just cuts out I have taken off the spark plug and you clearly see that the spark just cuts out at a random time it doesn’t come back until you turn off and on the kill switch or ignition. Everything else works as it should. But have no clue why the spark dissapers some time when it is a lot of rpm changes it doesn cut out but when I’m holding a steady rpm it just cuts out and is really annoying when driving because I have to turn off and on the kill switch somebody help plz

There’s a handful of things that could cause this, plug, coil, plug wire, spark pickup, etc.

Depending on your electrical tools, you could check the sensor is working, check the plug wire, and narrow down a few options. Otherwise, I don’t have advice besides replacing things in terms of probability

As a side note, this happened to my XS650 when the stator dropped a phase The digital ignition would occasionally go into a fault state and wouldn’t clear until power to it was cycled.

What sensor?

The ignition pickup.

Now that I’m thinking about it, it could also be a loose ground. I’ve had a loose ground create a weird ignition problem on my grom…

And how did you fix it on the Xs650?

I re soldered the stator. It failed at the joint from magnet wire to regular wire.

First thing is to check your battery terminals.

Not much more annoying than going down the rabbit hole of chasing electrical gremlins and then finding out it was just a loose battery connection the whole time.
