How long did you actually bed rot for?
Going on 11 days now lol. How long did you give it before you started going back to normal life? How many days did you spend in bed doing sweet FA? Just started a 13 season show so I could be here for the long haul š

Day 21 post op hysterectomy + endometriosis excision. Still haven't been able to stand longer than an hour at a time between lots of rest. Yesterday I thought maybe I was just being dramatic, so I pushed myself and did some cleaning. Today im even more exhausted and cant stand longer than 20 minutes until the pain gets too bad. Sigh. Should've trusted my body

u/LittleWolf09 19h ago
Same but pain is weird, I'll get a twinge and it's more like a sensation that I realize is the warning to stop wiping the counter and time to lay down again. Surgeon told me listen to my body and don't push it and it's been the bet list guidance so far. It is really hard though to just bed rot when you're limited, hang in there!

u/tocahontas77 18h ago
I had a hard time telling when I was overdoing it in the moment. It was only the next day that I realized. So that was slightly challenging for me.
8
u/Express_Ad4694 17h ago
This exactly for me. In the moment, I never felt like I was overdoing it. But the next day, I could not figure out why I could not get out of bed for 14 hours.
3
u/LittleWolf09 18h ago
Pay attention to your coochie lol it's hard when things are still coming back online and out brain isn't "seeing" it yet. Also your breathing is a good indicator, pay attention to your breathing.
3
u/natwalms05 17h ago
Like pressure? Pelvic pain? Cause I had that moving around yesterday. But havenāt left my bed today and it feels good
2
u/LittleWolf09 15h ago
When I'm taking shorter breaths and chest breathing I know I'm not chilling and should sit the eff down and maybe eat another edible hehe
3
u/LittleWolf09 15h ago
Personally I can't tell fart from pee feeling, maybe now but the first week was trial by toilet. Now I know the pressure of "oh yeah sit down" and the feeling of needing to pee. And gas sucks. The fucking GAS is true hell.
1
u/Few_Investigator8241 3h ago
How long do you/should i expect to have gas pain?
2
u/LittleWolf09 3h ago
Surgery gas was gone mostly for me about day 3. But the gas from just what I'm eating is I believe from my guts having access to the space where we took out my big ass uterus and things are moving and adjusting and sending signals back to my brain again. I get pain around the curve in my intestine and it's either gas or poo and still can't tell but it is less pain. Things are adjusting to the void we made so all I know that works is walking and holding one cheek open lol the lack of "pushing" means get creative with getting gas out if your system. Maybe some gas from surgery is still there but regardless walking around the house not even outside yet really does help move it and deep belly breathes too.
1
u/Few_Investigator8241 3h ago
Mine is the 16th. My surgeon said I needed to walk every day to help the gas and avoid an embolism. How do you know how much to walk, and how much is too much?
2
u/LittleWolf09 3h ago
Supposedly we shouldn't stand for more than 30mins. Surgeon said do what feel right and use common sense. Walking helps your internal pressure work with your lymphatic system and that helps sooo much.
1
u/Few_Investigator8241 2h ago
Thank you!
2
u/LittleWolf09 2h ago
I was sedated on oxy for the first 5 days to handle not doing anything. So take into account that this time is different for us all but still get up and walk around the house and if anything feels like too much, your body said what it said.

Day 18 post here. Laparoscopic full hysterectomy with mini laparotomy (massive fibroid. Like full term pregnancy). Spent about a week really doing nothing but lounge and sleep. Week two, bit more movement, longer walks. Feel pretty normal outside expected healing pains.
Going into week three⦠eh. Still taking it easy. Its easy as hell to overdo things when you feel good. The fatigue still sets in pretty hard. Gas pain is terrible (not laparoscopic, just general). I can stand for a good bit of time, but after walking 30 min Im kinda beat for a bit. Ive got 8 weeks out of work from my surgeon, so Im trying to take things slow and heal the best I can.
Anyway. Do FA as long as your body says it sounds good. Just make sure to get up and walk about :).

u/Few_Investigator8241 3h ago
How long did you have the gas pain?
2
u/Comin_Up_Thrillho 55m ago
Gas pain from the procedure wasnt bad for me. I wonder if the included laparotomy released some of it. I felt bits on and off for about 3 days.
Currently, regular gas pain is a thing for me. I suppose just the extra pressure on suture sites and things readjusting. Sometimes excruciating, but mostly not incapacitating. Everyoneās different, so you may not have this issue.

Iām one week post op today and only stayed on the couch for 2 days, since then I have been back to normal minus the 20 pound lift restrictions, occasional cuff tinges, and slight incision discomfort.

I was up and walking, day one. By day 5 I was celebrating July 4 th with friends.

u/Silly-Bumblebee1406 5h ago
I'm wondering if recovery is similar to having a csection where they really want you up and walking right away so you can heal faster
16
u/smkultraa 18h ago
Day 5 post op here. Iāve been up and walking regularly since day 2. Like around the block walking. The surgeon said the more I move, the better. Blood flow promotes healing and helps prevent blood clots. Movement is vital.
1
u/natwalms05 17h ago
Yes I have been moving about to keep walking but 90% of my day is me in bed either reading or watching TV.
11
u/architects-daughter 20h ago
Even 1 day post op I went for a slow 10 min walk and puttered around the house a bit.
For about 2 weeks I pretty much would go for a walk or two a day, have some normal around the house movements, and then nap like a motherfucker on the couch the rest of the time. By week 4 I was mostly back to normal.
While you absolutely should rest as much as you want/can, I highly recommend movement. My doctor was a big advocate and I think it really helped my recovery.
2
u/DannyX567 14h ago
Same. My doctor said that I should absolutely intentionally walk daily. Said I could immediately walk up to three miles a day starting day 1 post op. She said that her patients who movie a lot, heal faster and have better outcomes.

Days 1-4, pretty much bed rot. And then days 5-21 bed rot but also I did start going on 2-3 short walks with my dog each day. Then tagged along with my husband to go grocery shopping at the 3 week mark. Then went back to my desk job at week 4 but really wish I had waited until week 6.

u/Fine_Savings_2161 20h ago
I love to sit in bed or on the couch doing nothing. But it turns out that I only enjoy it on my own terms because Iām bored out of my mind!
Iām one week PO and although Iām still in pain and discomfort, Iām also sick of being stuck inside sitting still. I went out to a charity fundraiser day 5, but only managed an hour. Hoping to go out for dinner tomorrow, but Iām definitely taking things more slowly than Iād like to be!

u/Electrical_Sky5833 20h ago
I didnāt let myself bed rot. I made sure to get up regularly and went out to eat I believe days 4 or 5.

I am 3.5 weeks po from a TLH. I did nothing but sleep and take trips to the bathroom the first 24 hours. By the second day I was walking around the house a couple times every hour and bingeing a new show/napping in between. I am NOT a napper, but I napped daily for the first week. I started driving the end of week one, but only to very close places. At that point I started going on one adventure a day (to the pharmacy, a thrift store, a local place for red light therapy). I also started walking a mile/day in my neighborhood at that same point. I started working from home half days last week and just went back in person for full days today. I was definitely tired and uncomfortable from sitting, but otherwise it was ok.

u/Wild-Tumbleweed833 13h ago
9 wpo from open abdominal. I stayed on the couch pretty solidly for the first 4 weeks. I was still making a point to walk. It was just slow laps around the house at first and then I walked maybe 10-15 minutes a few times a day on a walking pad. I started being more like my old self after that and went on my first non-medical trip out of the house at week 5. It was under an hour to visit with an old friend and grab some stuff from her.
Things really started picking up for me at week 7. I could do most normal human activities with notable exceptions like picking up my large cast iron skillet and vacuuming. This doesnāt mean I wasnāt experiencing setbacks. Sometimes Iād overdo it and need to take it really easy the next day, even with just normal activity. Iām definitely not fully back to my normal self even now and Iām not back to work yet. Iām a tradesperson, so my job requires a lot of physical strength and stamina. Iām nowhere near there yet. I had my first pelvic floor PT today and Iāve spent the afternoon and evening mostly kicking back on the couch due to deep pelvic pain. Itās pretty low level but Iām taking any pain I wasnāt familiar with before surgery pretty seriously. If it persists until tomorrow, Iāll do a little gentle walking and not much else physical. I guess my point is be prepared and willing to bed rot again if your body tells you to once youāre up and about more.

I'm 10 days post-op, and I bed rotted for the first 3 or 4 days. But still forced myself to go on a (sloowwww) little walk around the block even on those days.
I'm not back at work yet or anything, definitely still at home taking it easy, but I'm doing stuff around the house, emptying the dishwasher, etc. Just not laying in bed much except for actual bedtime.
But everyone is different. I can't lay in bed for hours or I get a headache, I need to move a little, and I need activities to keep my brain active and stay sane. Nothing wrong at all with bed rotting.

u/NoPreparation7525 20h ago
lol I laughed at bed rot! Well Iām 3 weeks today! Iām definitely not in bed just constantly but the first week and a half I was pretty bed bound. Now after just maybe 20 minutes of being up around the house Iāll need to rest again. The fatigue is pretty crazy now! Worse than the first half so far for me but in saying that I was put on a medication by the hospital for pain that gave me insomnia. Once I stopped that I slept heaps better! But yes get ready to rest and binge shows, although it can be super hard to concentrate the first week! All the best with your surgery and keep us posted on your recovery journeyš These forums are awesome for all questions and just feeling like youāre not going through it alone. So many strange things happening in the body afterwardsš¤·āāļø

u/Born-Distance713 20h ago
Not long. I had very little pain, so I was up and moving quickly and was out for short walks on day two. By day 3-4, I found that Iād wake up early feeling great. My husband would join me for a short walk around the neighborhood. Week one, Iād get tired shortly after that and be back in my recliner by 10 or 11. I took long naps the first week, then they got shorter each week until I stopped needing them around week 5-6. I do think that walking frequently, even for short distances, really helped with my recovery.

u/amc726 20h ago
27 day post op. ROBOT-ASSISTED, LAPAROSCOPIC TOTAL HYSTERECTOMY, RIGHT SALPINGO-OOPHORECTOMY. In the morning I wake up with not much pain. 10-11 am my abdomen swells up and the cramps and back pain start getting sharp. Not to mention my belly button incision bulges out and hurts.
I do not like taking pain meds other than Tylenol. I consider myself to have a high pain tolerance. This has been very challenging for me since I am not the type to stay put. I ignore the pain but pay for it afterwards.
At what point does it not hurt anymore. Iām so over itā¦.. When I bend I feel a snapping sensation down there. Standing for more than 30 minutes is very uncomfortable. My back and the internal area where everything got removed feels like itās on fire.
Just want to feel normal. š anyone else have similar symptoms so far along.

u/TeaKnown4588 18h ago
Yes! Iām almost 4 weeks post-op and Iāve always been active. I work 65+ hours a week so Iām really not used to sitting down. Knowing this is the only time I will have to relax, Iāve taken it & donāt mind sitting on the couch and doing short walks. Iāve had to force myself to because if I overdo it at all my incisions burn especially the belly button. Also experiencing abdominal swelling. Iāve been trying to not take any more pain meds & Iāve done the stool softeners + liquid IV.

u/SecondEqual4680 19h ago
I was walking as much as I could. My surgeon told me to! I was tired but I was definitely moving as much as I safely and comfortably could
4
u/yugogrl2000 19h ago
Full disclaimer: I was very active prior to the surgery and couldn't afford to lose much muscle tone if possible because of my job. I allowed myself about 24 hours of true bedrest. I was up and walking as much as possible as soon as I was allowed. I walked 30 min straight by day 2, and hour by day 3, and by the end of the week,I was walking 2 hours at a time.
BUT...everyone is different. Be kind to yourself and rest when you need.
4
u/whisperyiron 19h ago
By day 3 I was in bed no more than half my waking hours, by day 7 I was just taking short rests in bed once or twice a day, by day 10 I was not laying down during the day at all. Day 10 also marked the beginning of a very active, often stressful, week including some travel. So I'm basically being an idiot - now day 18 and kinda hoping for a break.
4
u/asavage1996 20h ago
i think the first 6 days were spent doing nothing except one 25-ish minute walk on day 3 or 4. i slept maybe 18 hours a day it was crazy!
then on day 13 i played my first dj gig since the surgery (nothing crazy, just arrived to a party and played for 45 mins before sitting back down again)
by day 7 ish i was sleeping 8hrs again with a nap.

I had an open abdominal hysterectomy in June. I was in the hospital for a few days. After I got home, š went to the store like a day or two afterwards.
5
u/Tfran8 20h ago
I had an open abdominal hysterectomy so I was in the hospital for 2 days, after that, once I was home my doctor told me to get up and walk multiple times every day, so I did. First around the house and then outside on the sidewalk. About a week post op I went with my spouse and we walked around a market. I WFH so at about a week and a half post op, I opened back up the laptop and started doing some - mostly work trainings - I had been putting off.
5
u/ExpressionStrict4819 19h ago
I slept off my anesthesia the night of my procedure and the day after but that was it for me. Only reason I even sat on my bad since 8/23, was to not see the condition of my house and what needs to be done lol.
4
u/cats-n-cafe 19h ago
The day after surgery, I went to the grocery store and some other errands with my husband. I have everything g taken out except an ovary and had endo removed all over my pelvic cavity. I will say Iām a very active person, and I didnāt realize how bad I was feeling for so long, I felt better the day after surgery than I had in years.
2
u/crafting_altmom 18h ago
Same!! I was prepared to take a solid 3 days in bed while my husband was home with 2 under 2, but didnāt need or really get to at all. I felt better the day after than I had since getting my period at 9 years old. Out hanging with friends and family for the 4th literally next day.
3
u/Wayfaringbutterfly 19h ago
I really didn't bed rot at all - but I have a super comfy office chair and big 24 inch monitors for my computer. I have a TV in my room, but I spent most of my time at my desk doing various things on my computer, or I'd practice piano for short spurts at a time. I got up every hour or so and walked around, did VERY light housework and throwing something in the microwave or oven for food, worked on a puzzle, and then when the fatigue hit me at week 3 I took naps in the afternoon and laid in bed a little longer lol...but I still got up. For some reason or other I don't do well sleeping if I use my room for anything other than sleeping so I tried to keep that in mind.
My husband had to tell me to stop doing so much...I wasn't even doing that much! I just got bored lol.
3
u/InnerChampion 19h ago
My daughter is a nurse and she wouldnāt let me. As soon as I got home, I was expected to be sitting upright in a recliner during the day. No bed unless sleeping.

u/natwalms05 17h ago
Any book or show recommendations?
1
u/Difficult-Tart-6834 16h ago
If you like thrillers, the new Karin Slaughter book is out! I have a hyperfixation with British and Scottish media - the show Taskmaster is hilarious, 22 seasons out, and all on YouTube. My favorite book series is a police procedural called DCI Jack Logan by JD Kirk - they are easy reads, very funny, and has a cozy feel. Set in the Scottish Highlands and has a found family theme. 23 books in the series and all on Kindle Unlimited.
American show-wise, the only thing I've seen recently is Widow's Bay. Absolutely lives up to the hype. Cannot recommend enough

u/dognerdco 17h ago
Surgeon said multiple times to walk, walk, walk! I laid in bed solid for 2 days. Moved to the couch after that and started the short walks/around the house then. I took 2 weeks off from everything and a little under 3 weeks off of work and itās been a perfect amount. The 2 week āstaycationā was fun, but I definitely started feeling a bit bored.
Iām 20 days PO now and going back to work (standing, teaching, walking) and feel great! I have always been a fairly busy and active person though so it is not my norm to rot š

I had my operation on a Monday, out of hospital by the Thursday evening. My mum did all my housework and gardening for the first 6 weeks . I was up and about , I read loads .
My original sick note plus then 6 weeks holiday, means Iāve been off work for 14 weeks! Will be returning this Thursday
2
u/rinnielove 20h ago
I was up and doing things on day two but not a lot. Mostly just bathroom and going into the living room to eat, opening my window to circulate air, or get my cat off of something. Rest of the time I was lying in bed taking it as easy as I could. I think I became more like normal mobile end of my second week but I didnt really leave my place at all until my third and fourth week post op. But I also had a relatively easy recovery from what I've heard, minimal pain and no bleeding.
2
u/StormChaser557 19h ago
I only stayed in bed for a day, the nurse had me up and walking to keep circulation in my legs. Pretty much after my two night hospital stay I was up and normally walking around. I was glad to be home.
2
u/Low-Ad2426 19h ago
I went to the grocery store on day 3, but then overdid it on day 5 and had to fully rest day 6. Give yourself as much time as you need!
2
u/KarenXanaxPorter 19h ago
I spent POD 1 in bed. Thatās it. I did take naps and didnāt drive or do heavy cleaning for 2 weeks. I went to the movies POD5 but felt a little vulnerable. But I was taking walks around the block the first week. I had a vaginal everything out.
2
u/Xennial_Nostalgia 19h ago
Going into my second week and trying to bed rot as much as possible. Harder now that my kids are in school and I have to drive them. I've got no help around. I'm a Netflix and chill girl so I don't care at all.
I tried going grocery shopping five days out and was really messed up afterwards. I did dishes this morning and am in terrible shape now. Take it easy!
I have my post op-tomorrow and will be in the car for 6-8 hours. Not looking forward to it. Especially after overdoing it today.

u/natwalms05 17h ago
Oh yes Iām definitely getting up and moving but mostly just lounging around in bed with my golden puppy š
2
u/SevereNightmare 19h ago
I only took 2 weeks off work. I maybe stayed in my bed for around 3-4 of those days before going back to mostly normal because that's when I stopped taking the Oxy they gave me because I didn't need it anymore. I have a high pain tolerance and was mostly just kinda sore and tired. I still did most normal things besides lifting a lot pretty early on.
2
u/dorkette888 19h ago
I didn't bed rot at all for my subtotal abdominal. There wss more time in bed at 1dpo while still in the hospital, but I sat in a chair to read and I walked (shuffled) around the corridors for gas. Later days i slept more than usual and had naps, but was out of bed and doing short walks outside otherwise.
2
u/crafting_altmom 18h ago
Didnāt. The next day we went to a 4th of July bbq and fireworks. Was out and about running errands with 2 under 2 (husbands help) day 2, and went about normal life even with hubs back at work day 4.
I swore I was overdoing it, but at my 6 week appointment (which also happened to be exactly 4 months postpartum) the dr said my core is ridiculously strong compared to most people she sees and I was fully healed inside and out. Cleared to resume activity as normal, which I had basically been doing since week 2. Didnāt really have a choice lol
2
u/Lopsided_Regular_649 18h ago
About 12 days! I started to feel better right after that and today (20 dpo) I went to the gym for the first time since.
2
2
u/WarriorRavenChic 18h ago
At 7 dpo I drove over an hour, spent 12 hrs in kitchen chair playing games with family then drove back home. At 4 weeks I went on a 16 hr car trip, went to a concert, went shopping at numerous stores, went to dinner numerous times and was out and about many days that week, then drove 16 hrs home. I had fatigue until week 7.
2
u/gemgem1985 17h ago
I was off my feet for months honestly, I was exhausted and beat up. My hysterectomy didn't go super smoothly, she couldn't get the womb out of me so had to cut me open, then I was covered extensively with endometriosis too, so she took 7 hours to do the entire operation.

u/spudtacularstories 17h ago
I bed rot for 2 days (with short walks mixed in) then went back to work. I work from home, which let me take breaks. I couldn't sit for two weeks, so I rotated between standing at my desk and reclining in a bean bag chair with my laptop. I also kept doing occasional short walks on doctor's recommendation. The pain sucked for two weeks, and I wish I could have bed rot longer.
Week 3 I felt great pain and mobility wise, though I was still tired, and probably pushed myself too hard, since I started spotting and some pain returned just before week 4 started. Doctor has me resting more again.
I'm on week 5 today and I'm so ready to be done.
2
u/natwalms05 17h ago
Itās such a weird feeling to be ok physically and mentally and then not ok just half an hour later isnāt it! Thanks for your comment!

u/spudtacularstories 16h ago
It sucks so bad. I'm familiar with pain due to chronic pain in other areas for a while now, but surgery recovery is its own hell. I hope it gets better for you!
2
u/Anabele71 14h ago
I didn't spend my whole time in bed. I got up later in the morning and got dressed and showered every day. It is actually more beneficial to be up and moving so that you don't get blood clots or lymphodema if you have had lymph nodes removed. I took short walks around the house and ventured out for walks around the block which got longer after a couple of days.
2
u/Own_Psychology_5585 13h ago
I rotted on the couch for the entire month that I took off. Never been so tired. Definitely showered here and there but the fatigue was immense. I felt so gross that I had my couch professionally cleaned afterwards. I was nasty
2
u/Jupiter_Foxx 7h ago
You mean rest? š
My doctor told me one day, I wasnāt rly allowed to stay in bed all day, I had to do light movement daily. Youāre not supposed to, because it can cause blood clots iirc.
However I DID rest in between, I couldnāt stand too long but it took me maybe 2 weeks to 3 before I could feel like I wasnāt a baby fowl anymore
(Iām not sure what FA is)

I made the horrible mistake at day 4 of getting out of bed. Was having no pain and didn't even need to take Advil anymore. By Day 5, sat for 3 hours doing my work from home job. I even thought about going to my son's soccer games and sitting on hard metal bleachers for 4 hours - I read someone's advice and decided NOT to go to the games. I was so proud of myself for being such a good girl.
Day 7 still working from the dining table a couple hours a day and doing light picking up around the house (lol, using my toes to pick up stuff so I didn't have to bend down š). I wasn't having any major fatigue, and I was trying to be back up in bed laying down by about 6pm, or as soon as the kids were done with himework. Sleep 11p-10a. By day 9 I felt fantastic. I did a load of laundry sat at the computer for hours, went for a walk, cleaned out my son's soccer bag, straightened all the shoes, and vacuumed a rug.
I CAN NOW CONFIRM ALL OF THE ADVICE NOT TO DO THAT WAS CORRECT! IT WAS A HORRIBLE MISTAKE!!
I'm on day 11 now and back in bed since this afternoon. Started feeling pain unloading a couple dishes from the dishwasher (not from the incisions, but deeper inside. More like I did 200 situps just on the left side of my lower abdomen) and had some very light spotting. Probably will stay in bed tomorrow too. Don't rush it ladies!! HEED THE WISDOM OF OTHERS!!
To me staying in bed even for a full 7 days seemed ridiculous. ITS NOT!
2
u/FondantEconomy5036 20h ago
9 mpo. Still a bit of bed rotting to be had. Longer fits of activity (I can finally work from home for a full day and only want to lay down at lunch and when Iām done for about 20-30 minutes)

First 5 days at least (from effects of the anesthesia plus pain meds) then tried to get up more and do light chores after but needed a total of 3 weeks before I could return to work (even if my work is mostly computer work).

I am not enjoying the pain but the much needed rest is so refreshing. This needed to happen. Between the insane bleeding (130 days straight this year) with severe anemia plus all the mom duties and work I am burnt out. Iām currently considering giving up more organs for science, and rest. š¤Ŗš«”* *

Im 4.5 weeks and i'm running at like 40% capacity? I can do things for maybe 2-3h then I have to veg for 4-5h. My brain vacillates between only feeling foggy or full on cement. š«¤
I have other chronic illness so I'm used to a baseline level of pain, but it's more like constant discomfort? For me I'll be going along and I won't realize how tired I am or how bad I really feel until I stop. But it's make sure to get up regularly even just to walk around the house - it really does help.

I mostly did that for the first couple of days, as having the large cyst on my right ovary removed as part of the hysterectomy gave me more energy than I had in years. I still spent time on the couch, but since it was a few days before Christmas, the scaled back dinner on Christmas Eve wore me out, so I used a heating pad the next day. People brought food over, and there was leftovers for the next day.

9wpo and I was up and at a book event 2 days post surgery. Attended book club 5 days post surgery and then 2 weeks post surgery drove myself to San Diego. Outside of doing that and a couple of book events (Iām co founder of a bookstore) I sat in my bed or on my couch and read fan fiction until 4 in the morning every day. I was encouraged by family and friends to take my full 6 weeks and relax so I did! Absolutely no shame in bed rotting post yeet!

Bed rotted for like ten days - tried a mile walk and got pains so back to bed for three more days. Walked again and it was fine, days 15-18 were more active but still lots of rest! Back to work today (desk job wfh) and Iām gonna take it easy for another couple weeks. I like bed rotting š

4-5 weeks. But I had open abdominal op and the recovery time is longer with that. After 4-5 weeks I could finally go out and walk. By the 6th week I felt almost healed.

Not as long as I would have liked or needed. I have a deep lipoma in my left buttock, it can't be seen but if I lie down on my back for too long, my foot goes numb and my ass hurts!! So I've had to keep fairly mobile from day 1. ā¹ļø

I could only truly bed/couch rot for 5 days, then my husband went back to work and I had to be on mom duty (with a little help from my teenager). I was back to work (from home) at 12 dpo, then in-office at 19 dpo.
None of this was by choice; itās just how things had to be. I had my surgery on June 10th and Iām still a little salty at my lack of recovery time lol

My surgery is on Thursday and Iām hoping to bedrot for a week maximum as Iām also just starting my masters today and to not lose too many hours off my work contract either (I have no physical condition leading to this surgery, itās for my āØmental wellbeingāØ, im only 24, my weight has been as itās lowest in the past 5 years and Iām the most active Iāve ever been so I am really hoping for a quick recovery)

Iām almost nine weeks post op. I probably chilled in bed a few days and then the couch. Iām lucky to not have any pain so I didnāt bed rot

I was walking day 1 and driving by day 3. I then proceeded to overdo it by trying to get things done around the house and when I returned to work a week after surgery. Even after my ER visit for popping stitches, I was still up the next day. But I also did not have anyone at home to allow me to bedrot.

I was up walking around day 1, I did sleep more the first couple of days and returned to work with lifting restrictions on day 10.

I didnāt bed rot at all. Alternated between comfy chair and the couch. Took a lot of naps on the couch. But I walked around the house a lot too as my surgeon recommended. I had laparoscopic surgery though.

Went for a drive day 3 (nerve block still active) and couldnāt shower day 4. Day 5, took walk around block with only one rest stop. Went to store day 6, fell asleep on drive home. Day 7, prepped paste tomatoes and peppers for drying - 2 hours on feet, too long. Day 8 now, thinking it is time for another walk.
I am bored out of my mind with reading, scrolling, shows and napping. That alone will get me up and moving back to a more normal routine as soon as possible.

I had surgery on Monday and went back to work (from home) on Wednesday. I would nap after work. But from what Iāve seen, that is not the normal. Other than naps or bedtime I would try not to be in bed. I sat in my office chair a lot because it was the most comfortable seat.

1.5 days. Then my partner fell and sprained both ankles, so I was back to walking dogs and doing everything while he bed rotted.

Iām 10wpo. I was active after 2 weeks. I wanted to cook dinner. I needed to be moderately active. I would do my recommended walk after every meal on my walking pad . I would use the ab binder for two more weeks while cooking . Ready to go for work in 6 weeks.
I was in bed from 9p to 9a most days. I was behind on Hulu shows so binge watched. Audible books helped a lot. It really depends on preference.
Rest up. I donāt regret my timeline. I listened to what my body needed that day. If I needed to rest, I rested. I needed to be active. I was. Ease back into everything.

3 days I laid on the couch, then I started walking around the block. It was an easy recovery for me. I even went back to work cleaning houses after 4.5 weeks.

Iām almost 3 weeks post op, I started walking right away. Iām doing three walks a day (about 6-7000 steps total) but mostly just resting. I feel great but my husband wonāt let me lift a finger. Mostly watching TV, reading, but maintaining a routine. My energy feels pretty normal but Iām not working.

I was back to 10,000 steps a day within a week. My recovery was a total breeze. But everyone is different so please listen to your body and your doctor!

I wasn't stuck in bed after surgery, but I did take 6 weeks off work (mostly remote desk job) so I could take it easy. I did some gentle walking every day, but I also spent a lot of time on the couch reading or watching TV. I napped when I needed to. After 3 weeks, I didn't really need to nap anymore.

Iāve been wondering the same, as my date approaches! I had several movies and TV shows lined up to watch, but then my surgery got postponed twice and I ended up watching everything!
Then I remembered that for quite some time Iāve been putting off starting Call The Midwife because of how many seasons it is and this seems like a perfect time!
I also have a big stack of books to work through.

Im 8 weeks today and am still bed rotting every few days, for a few days. 4 weeks of just staying in bed after i got sent home from my 4 day stay at the hospital. (TAH/BSO with hemorrhaging, enlarged ovaries, and stage 4 endometriosis/ and a bowel tear from endo during surgery) Everyone is different. I overdid myself yesterday and truly feel it today.

I didnāt spend any time in bed unless I was sleeping at night, but I did spend a long time on my couch watching TV!

I took off two weeks from work but I had fomo in bed, and spent most of my time awake and on the couch.

About 2 days. I have a 5 year old and a 9 month old though so life doesn't slow down in our house. I was really lucky that I had zero pain after the first day. I was extremely tired though and did nap but really I was up and moving around really quickly.

I am 8 days post op and I am trying to rest as much as I can because I have to go back to work on 9/14.

I didnāt spend days in bed doing nothing. I was up and going to and from the bathroom the day after op. It is important to rest and not to push yourself beyond what is comfortable but lying in bed for days is harmful and risks blood clots. There must be nice things you can do that mean you can get up and move about a bit. I am certainly not suggesting hard work or rigorous exercise, just gentle hobbies and making drinks, basic foodstuffs. Unless you have had an open abdomen hysterectomy or something more drastic than a keyhole surgery hysterectomy, you should be feeling able to move about gently now

My surgery had difficulties, so I was solid bed rest for a good 7 days due to incision pain ( C-section from hip to hip ) its day 11 now and thanks to advice of the group I made a splint to put in between the incision and my belly and that has helped tremendously with the pain and keep you my belly weight from pulling on the incision and causing infection. Still not moving around much just from bedroom to bathroom bathroom to kitchen and then back to bedroom, I am doing physical therapy once a week but I haven't been outside since August 24th the day I was discharged only because of the heat and because I get heat stroke and faint but I'm an introvert so more than happy to be inside plus I'm retired and due to the nausea from the pain I know I'm dropping weight.

I'm completely boredom exactly 7 weeks now. Just feeling as though I can walk around. dr sold at the six week check up that everything looked good (I had a full hysterectomy +4 other procedures). My internal stitches are what is healing now. I may have said this before and another post-but I have no brain. My two hour turned into a 4 1/2 hour surgery because of all the bleeding I had from a congested uterus. I also had scar tissue from leap surgery years ago that had closed up around my cervix. So I had a very heavy uterus sitting on my intestines and then my bladder. All of this caused hip and back pain. Not knowing any of this, I started with an Orthopedic⦠and PT for my back. After about eight months, I walked into the emergency room and said something is wrong-the OB in the emergency room came and told me everything that was going on after scans. itās a really long story, but I was able to get in with a specialist and feel lucky to have found him. ButI can tell you this has been much more recovery than I ever thought. I felt better at three weeks and overdid it-I woke up one night to go to the bathroom and had sharp pains in my abdomen, which made me pass out (briefly). But I hit my head on the marble floor-I wanted to wait it out, but I ended up back in the emergency room just to check out my head. They did scans of everything-but I had a UTI. Just finished my second anabiotic for the UTI.
What has been the worst for me? Was the hormonal changes after the surgery⦠I felt like I was going through menopause and pregnancy at the same time. And I have been on hormones for 11 years-but that was very unexpected. What I have learned is to lie horizontal as much as you can-I can only watch so many crime shows and read so many romance novels-š

More of a 'recliner rot', but I'd say the first two weeks I did very little. I thought I would be super bored so I made sure I had plenty of little projects lined up like journaling, catching up on emails, cross-stitch, but I did none of it. First week I largely slept in front of calming TV like Planet Earth. Second week I played a lot of Skyrim. š

Also curious, my surgery is scheduled for the end of October. I'm so looking forward to doing nothing. People keep saying oh no you'll get so bored but I love being home alone and watching TV and just doing absolutely nothing so I feel so ready for this.
