Discussion F4 should be C class

Wanted to vent about F4. Raced at Laguna Seca twice yesterday in F4 after basically taking break from F4 for 2 seasons. Jfc.

First race: someone parks it on the apex during a high speed turn and I don't have time to react and run right into him. Meatball. Later, making a move on the outside at the last turn. The guy moves under braking right into my lane and we hit wheels.

Second race: First turn someone just veers into me approaching the turn. Boom. Meatball. Later on the last turn of the last lap. I make a move to the inside. He gets scared, goes wide, and then loses control and hits me recovering his spin. I take the place and after the line, he just rams into the back of me.

You'd think since it's open wheel, people would be more careful. I get more space from people when racing GT4s.

Just like the GT4 is now C class, the same should be for F4. And while we're at it the Formula ladder makes no sense. You can drive F1 and IndyCar at Class C but Super Formula requires B class? Makes no sense. I know F4 driving standards are awful but what do yall think? Also just wanted to vent lol

Apps/Tools iRracing to LED strip

Would anyone else want to do this? I would appreciate peoples thoughts.

All you need is an addressable LED strip and an ESP32 controller.

It occurs to me that people might not trust my app tho.

I guess thats why people use Github. https://github.com/domsablos/iRacingWLEDBridge

Question/Help Making a button box but have some questions on some of these options

I want to add some fuel buttons but my stickers are -no fuel, fuel full, fuel -1 and -10 and +1 and +10… how do I set those up in iracing? Which should I use? I’m confused because I haven’t seen any options in the game for stuff like that. I will be using Simhub controller mapper so I can add led profiles for these buttons (like a pro switch panel)

Any other ones I should add? Probably traction control + and - but haven’t used those much yet with what I race. Thanks for the help

Discussion VIR Laptimes

Anyone do pretty good at most other tracks but find themselves driving like a Rookie at VIR? I can’t keep a consistent time or make a good time to save my life at VIR. Feels like I have no grip at all and I already have trouble judging the grip limit on Iracing.

New Player Regarding iRacing pricing

Hi. I’m not sure if this game is considered the absolute best in terms of content, graphics, sound, or other simulation features, but for me, its standout quality is the community and the variety of championships. I’ve played other sims and enjoyed them, but I haven't really seen anything quite like the iRacing community. There seems to be a solid community for LMU via RaceControl, too, but that’s a different topic. My question is this: as a new player, I need to spend money—and at some point, it looks like I’ll have to pay around $100–$150 in total. Is there any way to lower this cost, or perhaps earn in-game currency or get discounts somehow?

Leagues/Hosted How many of you are interested in a simple 'slow' car 24 hours race with some price money?

So i recently saw a post about the iracing lemons 24hours race. And that layout got me thinking about how little endurance races there are for the slower and less used cars in iracing.

I am fortunate enough to be able to host sessions and even give out price money to make it extra fun to fight for the win.

Now, comment me this. Which cars, legacy, old, new. Doesn't matter. Would you like to see or race in a 24 hours.

We can use popular and free tracks. Or even do this event twice a year? 1 time on a free track, the other time on a paid track.

Any idea or comment is welcome. Hopefully we can make this happen. Thankyou.

New Player Low iracing levels is hell.

Okay fairly new after deciding to make the jump a few nights ago and commit to iracing. (Not new to racing and sims).

After 1 night I get promoted into D class. Rookie lobbies seemed okay, giving space, racing cleanly etc. but since I have been racing in D class, holy sweet lord above it’s like demolition derby.

I’m getting racing incidents for cars turning into me on corners when I am on the inside the whole time. Just because they want to drive aggressively and try and overtake on the outside cutting into me on the turn.

On top of that, people get butt hurt when you try and overtake because you’re 1.5 seconds quicker per lap than them. Throwing their toys out the pram and intentionally trying to ram you off, so they don’t lose their position.

Does it get better with higher irating levels? What’s the threshold where you can start to see the difference as this is carnage.

Licenses/Promotions Iracing need to update the safety rating. make it harder to keep.

there to many "wrecker or checker" racers out there. this is coming from the oval side by the way. they be A licenses. but they not safe. they just be 1.5-2.5. they either up front. if there more then 3-4 of them. dont worry they will end up wrecking each other. if any survive. they at back. wrecking ppl trying to come thru the pack. these dudes are crazy fast. but they cant race ppl at all with out killing them or the other dudes. after a year of hover around the same irating. i pretty realize who is who. dont worry, this week at darlington. since it a full race. they make sure they least finish this race and get there rating back up to 3.0 or higher and be a danger again after this week.

they need to make it, if you go below a 3.0, you lose your licenses. them always being around a 1.5-2.5. they pretty much a c-d licenses unsafe drivers all year long causing troubles. im to the point i much rather be match up with higher safety rating ppl closer to me and not irating. least then, there a chance i get to race someone all race long in the back marker. have a long green run and green flag pit stops.

heck right now im a back marker driver, but hell imma finish in the top 5, hell maybe even have a shot to win, that only cause the 5-6 fast drivers that are unsafe, gonna take them self out and take 5 more with them. every thing time. these races are not fun cause of them. they need to make these licenses harder to keep or something.

Question/Help 8 weeks away, now low FPS

Thumbnail

After 8 weeks away, I suddenly have low FPS and low GPU utilisation.

RTX 4090
7800x3D
64gb RAM

Everything was fine 8 weeks ago. Around 100 FPS (triple screen)

Now, as soon as a few cars are loaded onto the track the fps drops down (30 at some points) a gpu utilisation drops right down.

ACE performs fine (99% gpu)

Dropping graphic settings to minimum does nothing except if I have draw cars on minimum

I have rolled back Nvidia driver, did not help

Auto configure IRacing graphics

Checked the VRAM Limit in the .ini

I have no idea where to go from here. Any help would be great.

Discussion Week 13 Idea: Multi-Class Heat Races

I would love a session where instead of a multi-class race, it’s multiple class racing, meaning same track, same driver, different heats or stages all in different cars.

Dream Scenario:

Watkins Glen - NASCAR Layout
Race 1: Formula F4 or USF 2000
Race 2: ARCA or Truck Series
Race 3: GT3
Race 4: Prototype

Each race is 15 minutes with 3-5 minutes of practice in between or one 60 lap race where you have to run a minimum number of laps in each car with your choice of order.

Bonus points if they could figure out staggered starting to account for how big of a lead you build in each session.

Question/Help ANyone had this happening?

It's the forth or fifth PCC race I participate in either with Mazdas or GR86 and every time this happens to me.
The mark on the screen is me.
The thing is for the majority of the race I washearing the crewchief spotter say I was p8, then p7, then p6 and for one brief moment p5. The ingame standings and edge overlay were saying the same thing. And as I cross the finish line I hear a P9... I was incredulous until seeing the result...

Anyone have this happened to anyone else where you get indications all race long you are way ahead of the actual position you finish in?

Discussion Suggestion: Require a minimum number of laps before registering for team/special events

Hello everyone

I’ve been thinking about something that could improve the quality of special events and team endurance races in iRacing.

What if, before being allowed to register for a team event, drivers had to complete a minimum number of laps with the specific car and at the specific track being used for the event?

For example, if you want to participate in a 6-hour endurance race at Nürburgring with the Porsche GT3, you would need to have completed, say, 50-70valid laps at that track with that car before you could register.

I don’t think this should be about proving that you’re fast. It would simply prove that you have actually spent some time learning the track/car combination and understand the basics of driving it safely.

The reason I think this could be valuable is that team events are very different from normal races. People can spend weeks preparing, practicing fuel saving, pit strategy, driver changes, setups, traffic management, etc. Then you can have someone join the event with virtually no practice, make a mistake in Turn 1, and potentially ruin several hours of preparation for an entire team.

Obviously, accidents will always happen that’s racing. I’m not suggesting that every crash should be punished or that inexperienced drivers shouldn't be allowed to race.

The idea is simply:

Before you can register for an event, demonstrate a minimum amount of preparation for that specific car + track combination.

It could even be something relatively small, such as:

- 50 valid laps

- Minimum 20 clean laps in a row

- Or a combination of laps and incident-free mileage

And perhaps the requirement could be different depending on the length/type of event.

I think this would have several benefits:

- Better overall driving standards in Special Events

- Fewer completely avoidable first-lap incidents

- More meaningful preparation for endurance races

- Better experience for teams that invest a lot of time preparing

- Encourages drivers to actually learn the car and track before committing to an event

I'm curious what the community thinks.

Would you support a minimum practice requirement before being allowed to register for a team/special event? Why or why not?

EDIT; you guys are taking the number 50 and green hell to serious... its just a number and any track.. can be 15 clean laps in silverstone... whatever... its an example that you should have history of the car and the track at any point on yout drving history. you dont need to do every event , just have it on record

Question/Help Le Mans 296 low wing porsche curves

Upvotes

Hello, today i tried practising the 296 on le mans, with wing 1-2-3, with setups from garage61, everytime i reach the porsche curves i die, especially during the first two left corners. I realised there is a bit of camber there and everytime i get there i die, with wing 4 i can manage, but any lower i die, i m not looking for the fastest time or anything, i just wanted to try lower wing.

How do people do these corners full throttle with low wing? I ve been thinking maybe the setups are a bit to crazy, but i cant do the porsche curves at all. Also, when exiting the pits on cold tyres (with low wing), sometimes i spin during the second to last corner before the straight.

Im fine with racing on wing 4, im just wondering how do people do these on wing1-2-3.

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to level up my sim racing and I think I need two kinds of help: a general coach to fix fundamentals (braking, consistency, settings) and a Porsche Cup–specific coach to dial in the 992 Cup car for the current season

Leagues/Hosted Can I have a random grid start for a league race?

Running a special event in a league soon, wondering if there's a way for the game to generate a random grid start. When I go to set up a race through the league there's an option to not have any qualifyin, just go from open practice to a race. How is the starting grid determined through that? Tia

Teams Driver Looking for a Team - Global Endurance tour

I am currently looking for a team for the upcoming Le Manns 24hr this weekend. I am in A class driver, but my Irating there is sub 1000.

I am running the Porsche 911 GT3 and holding a consistent average pace of 4:09 with limited incident points over the course of the 45 minute races this week. I have ran 3 3-hour endurance races solo at Le Manns a couple weeks ago and placed 12th with six incident points in the last event.

I’m located in America and am in CDT.

Please feel free to comment or DM me to ask any further information.

Question/Help iRacing.com Helper Service not running

I always get this when I start up Iracing and I wonder what is a permanent fix to this as to not run into this issue again
