I know they're not the most venomous snakes, but gods... is this the largest venomous snake?

Bloody huge.

Yes, that is sort of their claim to fame. In addition to being wide spread from Indian through Africa.

I don't think King Cobras are native to Africa

It's not.

I only know this because in a small town in Zimbabwe (where I'm from) during the land reform one of the fleeing whites had a snake collection and let them loose on his farm... We brought a house in the area and learnt of this aftern finding a king cobra and her eggs in the drain pipes 😮‍💨

None of the workers had the balls to deal with it and it's not nationally protected (that's what they said) so they threw hot water down all the sinks and pipes going to that drain.

Were snakes some sort of exotic pets for them?

I'm not sure. From what I heard they had a collection of cobras and they bred and now are a problem.

Dang! Sorry. I’ve watched a lot of the African nature shows and often they show cobra’s. I assumed it was a King Cobra (in addition to the Spitting Cobra they always ID). Apparently I missed out on some details.
