Reading a lot of these comments I don't think people realize the speed trams travel at. This team appears to be traveling at full speed in the video. Will this invention leave you harmless? Definitely not you will have road rash, maybe a concussion, maybe even some broken bones. Will you be run over and killed? No you won't. Sure there is always a possibility you would still die from landing wrong but your chances of living are now increased by a drastic amount.

But like, trams have clearly delineated lines, they don't move all that fast and you can hear them coming, is this really necessary? How many people actually get run over by trams each year?

Idk about other cities but here in Amsterdam a few people die every year from tram accidents, more get injured.

Correct. It should be nearly impossible to get hit by a tram. But consider the fact that some people are really really dumb.

And even intelligent people fuck up sporadically, given a high enough population and enough time accidents will eventually happen

Yes but if we’re going to go so far as to design this one, why can’t we design one that catches you?

I'd rather die than live as a cripple.

And no, before you idiots start moaning and screaming, and pissing, it's not ableist to say that.

I decide to live how I want. If something happens that I deem my life is not worth living anymore, it's my decision. I'm making that decision for myself, not for others.

I think there are cases of people getting crippled by trams like this, by carelessly walking into their path, which would be alleviated by the invention.

Also, if you do decide to end your life, I have a lot of sympathy and I hope you find a way to fix it - but please don't pick such a selfish and messy way to go that will traumatize a bunch of other people.

Just how did you end to the conclusion that I want to kms?

I only said I'd rather be killed by a tram, rather than having stupid "safety" systems that technically allow a pulse.

I didn't, I said "if". Just like you said "if" in your comment I was replying to.
