Nice rendering of the waves, which make me think, why didn’t they see the waves when there were descending?

Cloudy weather on descent and the cloud layer was lower to the surface than on Earth? But I guess the plot wouldn’t work if they knew 🤷‍♂️

Watch it again, Coop lands them super quick to not waste time. Can't observe much if you're stuck to the back of your seat

Yep. When you're going to a planet where you waste 7 years per hour, it's not like you're gonna look at it and think "I wonder if there are any massive tidal waves down there. Let's slow down." In fact they shouldn't have gone there in the first place to be honest.

Stuff of life...

What was the scientific reason of MULTIPLE tidal waves again? I think I saw an interview with Kip Thorne touching on the subject, something about Millers not fully tidally locked on Gargantua, I still don’t get why there are so many waves instead a single big one

tidal forces from the black hole i believe

Thats exactly my question and I am totally sure its related to Gargantua position

Yep position/distance of the planet to Gargantua. And there's always 2 sets of tides from another massive gravity source... second set is the opposite side of the other. The moon does the same to the earth. That and the planet's rotation a day is like 5 hrs.

but the waves were like 10 mins apart. does that planet spin once every 10 mins?

They tried to wait for the engines to drain between tides he said they had like 2 hours or something then they got the idea of blowing our cabin air to unflood the engines.

Looks awesome! I was wondering if there was any special reason to use blender 3.4?

Just something I'm more familiar with

Beautiful

Ok so now this makes me wonder how bad the rogue waves must be on this planet.

Are waves generated by tidal forces like this?
I'm sorry if the translation is weird.

Where gravity is so strong that nothing CAN happen, in regards to anomalies and mutations.

It still fucks with my head that Miller died minutes ago on the planet when they show up, yet in our time it was like ten years ago.

Awesome render! Reminds me of our own planet from the Pacific Ocean side. It’s quiet over here.
