opinion Cloud Storage Alternative

Due to my location and current politics I find it really hard to find alternatives to pay for any foreign services, plus it is not cheap in general, therefore I would like to know if there are any cloud services or any other programs that allow me to do back up of approximately 100-150gb of files for free. I want to install Linux instead of Windows but I need to do back up for the files, also would be nice to have some video/photo memories saved safely in the cloud instead of a physical drive.

TLDR: Any free cloud storages out there for 100-150 GB of information?

I know you are looking for a free solution. But this is really dirt cheap and they haven't billed me since I started a month ago. From reviews, they will only bill you once you hit like $15 or something. But I pay for 1TB of space and it spins up a nextcloud instance and its only like $5/month.

It's been really good imo.

How do I know you are not just a bot promoting this service?

I'm not a bot. I'm a technology manager that works in the maritime sector in the US.

I have be scouring the web for the best cloud storage and have been battling between e2ee and just regular cloud hosting providers. I stumbled across hetzner and saw that they provided nextcloud from next to nothing. Proton Drive was just entirely slow. But basically, I'm waiting for a good price on a server. Will eventually use immich and self host. Hetzner is just my buffer until I get something to install locally.

I've lost complete confidence in other cloud solutions especially ones that are not e2ee. I was actually a grand juror on a case that involved dropbox and decided to ultimatly move everything to proton drive. But, proton has been slow and refused to look at other solutions until I came across hetzner. So yeah there's my non-bot story.

Nextcloud has just been working for me.

Thank you for such a detailed answer and sorry if I sounded rude. I will check Hetzner out.

Dude you asked for an answer and then questioned their validity when they try to help? You don't know, it's the internet, do your own research on suggested solutions and see if they are right for you.

You want +100 GB for free which is a crazy ask to begin with. Maybe look at some other posts about free storage and decide if it is worth the cost to pay for storage or if you can make a bunch of accounts and piecemeal the capacity across like 10 Google drives

the gentleman has given me a very good explanation thankfully, it just sounded too good to be true, that's why I got suspicious
