In addition to all the fun, we will be honoring some of the many working class wins with awards to celebrate the victories and uplift local struggles. In times when things seem so terrible, we have to remember to celebrate the good things that are happening so we can build hope for a future where workers have more power and dignity on and off the job.

I honestly don’t know what residents at Collegetown Terrace are supposed to do about the Internet situation anymore.

Since moving in, FiberSpark has been incredibly unreliable. I’ve experienced repeated complete outages, severe packet loss, and huge jitter, especially in the evenings. There have been times when the connection is technically “online” but is basically unusable for gaming, Zoom, or even normal Internet use.

I’ve done a ridiculous amount of troubleshooting at this point. I’m using wired Ethernet, not Wi-Fi. My connection to the local gateway can be completely stable while packet loss appears immediately upstream and continues to the final destination. During one outage, I was seeing around 87% packet loss to Google while the local gateway still had 0% loss.

What makes this even more frustrating is FiberSpark’s customer service. I’ve sent them multiple tests, screenshots, WinMTR results, and repeated follow-up emails. They’ve acknowledged that there are broader network problems, but I still haven’t gotten a meaningful explanation of the cause, what exactly they’re doing to fix it, or a realistic ETA. Lately they have barely responded to my follow-ups at all.

So I tried to solve the problem myself. I was willing to pay for Spectrum out of my own pocket and keep FiberSpark as-is. There is already a coax outlet in my apartment. Spectrum sent a technician, but the technician needed access to the building’s communications/mechanical areas to trace or activate the old coax connection.

CTT told me they would not allow the Spectrum technician access, so I ultimately had to cancel the Spectrum installation.

That’s the part that really gets me. If the Internet included with the apartment were reliable, fine. But when the provided ISP is having repeated outages and severe packet loss, residents apparently also can’t independently pay for another wired provider to get a reliable connection.

At this point I’ve literally had to use my phone hotspot because it is more usable than my apartment Internet.

For the amount of rent CTT charges, I really don’t think “use your cellular hotspot because the building Internet doesn’t work and you can’t install an alternative” is an acceptable situation.

Has anyone else at CTT been dealing with the same FiberSpark outages/packet loss? I’d especially be interested to know if people in other CTT buildings are seeing the same thing.

Hello, this is a suggestive way to ride the TCAT so the bus driver and other passengers are not inconvenienced.

After scanning your card, walk all the way to the back of the bus. If there is an open seat. Please, sit. If there are no open seats on the back of the bus, stand in the back.

Do Not stand in front of the back door, that is for exiting the bus. If you are in the way, people will have to push passed you and it is rude to force people to have to graze your body to get out.

When people exit the bus and you are standing in the front of the bus, proceed to the back of the bus.

Only exit through the back door, unless the bus driver says otherwise.

I am from Canada and I somehow managed to lose my wallet in Ithaca, I was at the five below the last night the last time i remember having it as i paid for something. After We took a 10 min walk up the buttermilk Falls trail (the one farther from the falls itself), and then Walmart after. When I went to pay at Walmart I realized I didn’t have my wallet. I’ve called and been to all of the places I mentioned today, as well as going to the front desks. I also went to the police station to check the Wallet dropbox. I called the parks department and the sheriffs department also. Again like I said I know this is a big long shot but if anybody happens to have seen this wallet please contact me or give it to the police, it has all my Canadian IDs in it. its a ratatouille zip up coin purse, my name is kira and that will be on the ID’s. there was Canadian cash in it and five dollars American cash I don’t even care if I don’t get the cash back I really just need my IDs to drive back to Canada 😭

Was stuck behind a car doing 45 in the 55 zone and thought I'd have a chance to pass on the long straight downhill after Glenwood Pines but as I was about to make the move I noticed the new lines were all double yellow. It was like this all the way on the new pavement, no more passing zones from Cass park to T park. Slow sightseers are going to back up traffic worse than ever.

Just wanted to share with everyone that the hupstate circus festival is this coming weekend. It's a circus festival that happens every other year in town. The headliner is one of the best jugglers in the world (Wes Peden) and his show is incredible. There's also a bunch of free family shows and events as well. This is a long shot, but here I go...

Saturday evening (8/29), we parked our motorcycle outside of the Maru Romen on W State Street. We locked everything we could into the saddle bags but left our helmets on the bike. Under 2 hours later, mine was gone. His was still there.

It was an XS Arai Signet full-face helmet (color is black frost) and I had a silver and black Sena communicator hooked to it. The communicator had a "J" in silver ink written on the inside of it. I also had a pair of black Joe Rocket gloves and a hair clip snapped to the back of the helmet that protects my hair while riding. All in all, it was a $1,480 loss and that's not counting tax and shipping costs.

I filed a police report and have been checking Marketplace, but no luck. We're in the process of filing an insurance claim to see if we're covered, but honestly, I'd like my stuff back because 3 of the items stolen were actually gifts.

If you have seen any of these items or know of a better place to search, please let me know.

Is spectrum currently down for anyone else right now or having really weird speed issues.

I was watching the plane fly over and noted how low it was. I said to my father that it made a sudden turn and the engine appeared to have cut out. And it started loosing altitude and was pointed in the direction of Johnny’s wholesale when it crossed past my tree line.

Does any restaurant in Ithaca do this? (That is worth the money).

Anyone have any experience w/ banjo lessons? I saw CSMA offers private music lessons but Banjos were not listed as an option (and I had emailed inquiring about it and never heard back, no fault of theirs I imagine it just wasn't seen), but I was really hoping to learn and I didn't know if anyone had experience learning while they were in Ithaca and if so, where they looked. I did see that someone asked this same question two years ago w/ no answers though so who knows lol.

My friend and I both got followed by someone tonight and last night, separately, on East Court St and N Geneva street. One was walking and with a mask last night, and another on a bike tonight. First post was removed because of a link so reposting. I haven’t been running recently so I am out of shape. I like edm and I’m not good at dancing so I figured combine the two to improve my cardio and also be able to dance at events. I would like to focus on melbourne shuffling, but we could do jump style or other styles.

I like techno(hardgroove),hard techno(schranz), uk garage, house but if anyone has other genres they like then that would be cool too.

I spoke to the organizer at the treehouse studio and it wouldn’t be that much for an hour, they have a good dance space with a speaker. I was thinking we could start outside since it is still nice out. 28M, I’d also be looking for people to go to events with in the future. Let me know if anyone is interested.

I received a Wegmans delivery today and at least 3 of my bags got swapped with another order. To the person who bought cute, healthy kids snacks, salads, and charcuterie, I am so sorry that you instead wound up with my 5.5 lb of pineapple chunks, 20 ears of corn and mint for a birthday party tomorrow. I called Wegmans and there was nothing they could do because there weren’t labels/names on the bags.

To whomever (man/woman) used the restroom in the first bathroom at the Ithaca Trader Joe's (today Saturday August 29th at around 12:45-1:00 P.M. )after I did, Thank You for being a Human being and turning in my wallet with all of it's contents inside. We really need more people like you in the world and you help keep the little faith I have in humanity alive. YOU will truly never understand how much I appreciate you and your amazing actions. I went dancing last night and when I came out to ride my bike back home I realized someone stole the panniers off my bike! They were two bushwhacker grocery panniers.

My bike was parked in front of city hall at the bike racks from 10pm to 1am (29 Aug going into 30 Aug). There’s two cameras on the wall pointing down at it.

I’m not sure how to report the theft. I don’t want to call the police line because its so minor it could just be handled via email. Does anyone know how I can report this petty theft? Long shot but maybe they can review the camera footage to see who took them?

I’m hoping with a police report I can get my renters insurance to cover the panniers so I can buy new ones.

I just drove by last week and noticed the sign out front (is it for sale? For building for rent?). It looks like it closed :( I'm sad because I grew up going there. Does anyone know why or when specifically it closed?
