What is the "best AI Resume Builder" website that can help me in my job applications and is low-cost or free?

So I am back on my job hunt. Ive heard a bit about a lot of applicants using AI tech to boost their applications and recruiters also using AI / ATS filtering whatnot

So far I have been using chatgpt and got mixed results - passable but i am looking for something more if it's around. Bonus if free and low-cost as I dont want to spend a lot on this.

I will test out and review all the suggestions left here. It would be great if you can also tell me why a particular tool worked for you and how it is better than chatgpt.

Right now I am trying Claude which seems similarish

Edit: Thanks for all your suggestions guys, really helpful and please keep them coming :)

Really thought I’d have a job by now….. unemployed for 14 months

I am so upset. 100+ applications, only 4 interviews in 14 months and stuck in an extremely toxic household, I am fighting for my life to not lose hope but how much can one person even take? I am so tired.

I am doing all I physically can to move forward but every single day just seems to be the same repetitive shit. I don’t know what to do anymore.

The workday lawsuit also has made me realise my competition is a fkn robot and how many of my 100+ applications were automated to be sent in the junk file since I have an ethnic first and second name… Ik they discriminated on other factors too but ethnic name discrimination has been widely documented multiple times so it’s something that has been bothering tf out of me.

2 yrs of searching with no end in sight.

Upvotes

I've been looking for a job for 2 years. I have a PhD in human physiology, with several years of military leadership and a good track record publications and grants. After 200+ applications. I got a handful of interviews, but not for anything I actually applied for, or was remotely qualified for. No offers. In 2 years, not a single offer. Starting to feel like we're at a point where if you're on the outside of the job market, it's just never going to happen. Like this is it. I'm going to move in with my parents and just never be employable again.

Tired of Rejections

I'm tired of being rejected. For the past year and a half, all I've done is go to interviews and then get rejected. I know my resume's good enough to get me shortlisted, but it doesn't move past that. I answer all the questions to the best of my ability, show up on time, and am authentic in how I present myself. I'm tired.

I genuinely want to help I have a story please read if you lost your job and cant find a new one

Hi everyone, my name is Nathaniel AKA Riel. I have been a recruiter for 6 years...I have worked as a technical recruiter and corporate/trade skills recruiter for large multi-million dollar national organizations. I was let go about 6 months ago from a job I worked for years with 0 warning and like many of you I was ABSOLUTELY devastated. I found myself on the other side of the interview desk and let me tell you...it has opened up my eyes to how cruel...and disgusting the recruitment industry can be and for that...I am so...so sorry. I didn't want to...for the lack of better words shovel coal into a furnace anymore. That is when I decided that I would pursue a career with a company that actually valued people. I found a company that from step one has treated me with the dignity and respect that I as a human deserve. I have never once in the 70+ interviews ( YES YOU READ THAT F#%$ING RIGHT 70+ interviews for someone who KNOWS THE SYSTEM) that I have done in the last 6 months been challenged like this interview challenged me it was ...so fulfilling and made me feel ...GOOD AGAIN after facing so much rejection. So here listen now, I have my recruiting desk back. I am recruiting for a massive company that has decent benefits and pays decent market value and will be relatively SAFE in the future. If you are interested in remote or trade skills work please reach out to me in the dms or down below and I'll dm you the links to my new companies careers page so you can check it out for yourself and see if there is anything of interest for you.

I know its hard because I just got done living it.
I know you're angry...i was angry too.

Instead of clenching your fist....reach out and take my hand and let me try to help because I genuinely want... to help.

I don't make commission. I am salaried and all of my needs are met with this position.

I simply want to help people get back on their feet...well......because I can.

to anyone who actually reads this....thank you forward it to whoever might need help. I have direct access to positions across the trade skills spectrum and in both remote/hybrid/onsite positions.

The firm I find my desk at is founder owned and every founder is either a minority or female. this place is truly a mythical magical and unique beast.

I hope you dont need my help...but I know there are some people that do please dont be shy I want. to. help.

I finally landed a job

Upvotes

After months and months of applying, over 100+ applications, I have finally landed a remote job, it's 15k (INR) per month, from 12 pm - 9pm.

I have had better paying jobs in the past, but this was the only place that replied and requested for an interview. My CTC has been 35k (INR) per month.

But I knew if I asked for more, they'd reject me because they couldn't pay more.

Tbh, knowing that given my experience this is way way below what I would usually get, has been quite an experience. I felt like a loser for a while, still do.

I'm relatively new to this sector and I was confused on my first day.

I have been broke for so long, I stopped going out and hanging out with friends because I literally didn't have money.

Currently I have 4 rs in my account.

Some money is better than no money.

How can sketchy North Korean operatives get interviews for remote jobs that us citizens can't even after hundreds of resumes?

This reminds me of the copper thieves problem. Even if they only get $30 or so for destroying an ac unit there's always a scrap metal dealer eager to buy from them. Looks like the same problem with US employers passing over thousands of legit applicants.

Meanwhile American IT workers can't even get an interview.

Nearly 3 years, nearly 3,000 apps.

At this point I don't even care about potential doxxing because, hey, at least it'd mean I'm getting noticed!

I should say, I'm not in as desperate a situation as some of you. My situation is toxic and bad for my health, and I need to get out, but I'm not on the verge of total ruin or collapse. For those of you that are, my heart really goes out to you. This is just my story.

I've rebuilt my resume 4 or 5 times now from 2024 till now. I've worked with resume writers, with Reddit, with connections I have IRL to ensure my resume is as good as it can be. I've rebuilt my digital presence, updated my LinkedIn and rebuilt my portfolio website. I'm posting to LinkedIn as regularly as I can stomach. I've implemented the master resume strategy, the multi-resume strategy, the tailored resume strategy. I've played every keyword game. I've submitted with PDFs, plain text files, Word docs, you name it. I've aimed for positions above my current role, lateral to my current role, and beneath my current role.

Closing in on three years, I've submitted nearly 3,000 applications. I've had 4 interviews in that time and 5 non-related recruiter calls. I've been auto-rejected by every single other application. I woke up this morning to an auto-rejection email from a job I submitted for last night. There isn't an HR team in the galaxy that efficient.

Funny enough, the only ones I haven't been auto-rejected from are all non-WorkDay systems. The thing that's really irritating me is that I recently learned about that WorkDay lawsuit. I almost had hope, but then I read the details; a black man, aged 40, living with disabilities is claiming discrimination because he's been auto-rejected from hundreds of workday applications. I'm a white man, aged 33, with no disabilities who's been auto-rejected from thousands of workday applications. So, even if he wins (and I do hope he does because then at least one of us can get somewhere), it may only make things harder for someone like me.

I've ended up doing the one thing I'm not "supposed" to do; re-applying for jobs I've been auto-rejected from with slightly different details to see what's causing the auto-rejection. I mean, if I'm never going to get in front of a person, then what difference does it make? I'll be black-listed? For all I know and for all anyone will ever tell me, I already am!

This isn't a cry for help - it's just a rant. I started to focus on my business as that's the only bright spot in professional development anyway. I'm only sharing my experience because; whether you're like me, like Derek Mobley, or like any of your unemployed connections on LinkedIn; this has been a futile effort for all of us.

I’ve been job hunting in Europe for 2 years. I’m exhausted, but I’m not giving up. I just need one opportunity.

Title: I’ve been job hunting in Europe for 2 years. I’m exhausted, but I’m not giving up. I just need one opportunity.

I normally wouldn’t do this, but I’m honestly running out of options, so I’m going to put this out there.

The past two years have been the most humbling period of my life.

Moving to Europe four years ago was a dream I had since I was a child. I worked day and night to make it happen. I eventually sold my company to finance my education abroad because I believed it would give me the opportunity to build a career and the life I had always dreamed about.

I’m currently based in Paris, France, and I recently completed my Master’s in Business Analytics and Strategy.

It’s been two years now, and things haven’t gone as planned.

I’ve sent hundreds of CVs. I’ve gone to companies in person. I’ve applied online, networked, followed up, asked for referrals, and tried almost everything I could think of.

And honestly, I’m exhausted.

But I’m still here, and I’m still trying.

At this point, the only thing I have left is my faith in God and the belief that I only need one person to give me a chance.

I’m completely open to relocating. I’m not limiting myself to Paris or even France. If there’s a genuine opportunity anywhere in Europe where I can contribute, learn, and grow, I’m willing to move.

So if you see this, please don’t just ignore it. If you have advice, know someone hiring, know a company that might be willing to give me a chance, or even have an idea of something I could try that I haven’t thought of, I would genuinely appreciate it.

If you have an opportunity where you think I could be useful, you can reach me at [jaydanjumah@gmail.com](mailto:jaydanjumah@gmail.com).

I’m not looking for someone to give me a handout.

I just want a chance to prove myself.

I believe my attitude, resilience, and willingness to learn are some of my strongest skills. Give me an opportunity, and I’ll work my ass off to make it count.

If nothing else, even sharing this could potentially put it in front of the right person.

Thank you.

What's keeping you from giving up on the jobsearch?

Upvotes

I've been unemployed and without a full time job since December of 2025. I've probably sent about 250 job applications in and went through interviews with 10 different companies. Yesterday, after a 2-month process, I had a final-round interview with a company I was really excited for. I'm not sure if it went well, but I am getting so disheartened.

What's everyone doing to keep themselves motivated to keep searching?

A little vent

So, in order to get a job, you need to pay for someone to prepare your cv and LinkedIn page for you. Then you need to pay for 10 different job boards. Then, you need to become a LinkedIn influencer and build your own personal brand and send 100s of applications to jobs that don't even exist in the end.

I am so pissed and so profoundly discouraged rn. I know I sound like a crying bitch but I just needed to vent a little bit.

I am planning to actually print my CV and take it to places in person to see if maybe that'll give me better results. That's honestly my last attempt before I just take a waiter job bc I need a job, any job at this point. Because I do not believe in online applications anymore. I feel like 90% of them are for jobs that don't exist, and those idiots are just wasting out time.

I didn’t pass the vibe check

Hello,

I had a 3rd round interview with Global Director of Program management on 8/3/26.

I thought I did well during initial, 2nd round and 3rd round interview.

On 8/13/26 HR asked for my salary expectations from and I said the middle of the posted range.

I followed up with them on 8/21/26 for any updates at 9-10am

Today is 8/31/26 and I have heard nothing back from them.

Does this mean I am essentially ghosted and should not expect an offer?

I am extremely anxious and worried because I wanted it to end up well, but I think they at have silently rejected me?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

How to answer "What is a time you dealt with a stressful situation?"

I've been asked this (and similar questions, but I can't remember what specifically) multiple times and I've never been able to come up with something. I was thinking of just making something up since I can't remember an actual example of this, but I'm having trouble with that too. Every time I try to think it feels like there's something blocking me from thinking. What's a plausible answer for this?
(Nothing work-related since I've never had a job before)

AIApply vs Global Work AI?

Upvotes

Hello fellow NILFs (Not In the Labor Force, as the kids call it these days).

My position was terminated at the end of April and I've been hunting for jobs all day every day since then. It took me way too long to realize LinkedIn is the worst POS platform in the world - what giant blackhole of BS that is - so I went other routes. Unfortunately, no luck yet.

Anyways, after 4 months of strenuous, tedious applications and tailoring resumes and cover letters, today I finally turned to a paid AI service. Thanks to my Insta algo, AIApply was the first one I went to try - mainly because it boasted the ability to auto-apply for hundreds of jobs based on my preferences. However, as I completed the questionnaire (with the knowledge the paywall was coming), I was re-directed to another company called GlobalWorkAI right when I went to pay. I did not realize it until I got the confirmation email and a quick Google search told me they are NOT the same. Has anyone else had this experience or any knowledge of Global Work AI? I went back to AIApply and re-did the questionnaire (stopping at the paywall) and the steps were different.

I reached out to Global Work AI and demanded a cancellation and refund or I will be disputing it ASAP with my credit card company.

TLDR: Has anyone used Global Work AI and is it a scam? Additionally, has anyone had experience with AIApply? I could use all the help I can get!

How bad is the remote job market now for Software engineers

Upvotes

I have 7+ years of experience as a frontend engineer and I have been looking for a remote role now for over a year and I can't find one. I am based in an African country, before now, I used to have recruiters even frequently contact me on LinkedIn and I never stayed out of a job for more than a month but for the past year, I have been applying with no success, I have tweaked my CV, linkedIn etc...but nothing. I know it's extra hard to get a remote role especially from Africa but I just wanted to know from those who recently got a remote job from a country in Africa how they did it or is it equally difficult as well for those in Europe or the US?

Did I get Passed on?

Recieved an email from a recruiter from the company last wednesday (8/26). He ended up calling me about 30min later saying he wanted to go ahead and start the conversation. He asked a few questions before saying it all sounds good and will forward my resume on to the hiring manager/team.

He said if i didnt hear back within 48hours/monday(8/31), reach out and shoot him a text as he gave me his personal number. I messaged him yesterday morning (8/31) and have have not heard back.

Is this just the process and he is waiting to hear back before answering or should i be concerned i was passed over without any more communication?

Notes:

This is for an aerospace defense contracter. He mentioned they have been struggling to find someone to fill the role and my resume lines up well.

This was an official email from the company so not worried about spam/scam.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Years of relevant experience and can’t even get a convo.

If I was getting interviews and bombing those it would be one thing but I keep getting rejected before even having the opportunity to even chat with someone. I’ve spent 24 years working in tech/product in high positions for some major players and can’t get an convo to save my life.

Recently was Director of Enterprise Product Development - Data and Analytics for NBCUniversal overseeing all data/Analytics/Application and AI/ML development for their global film, content distribution, brand development, home entertainment, tv distribution, tv production, marketing and promo optimization teams.

Prior to that I worked for Bill Gates designing campaign management / revenue / analytics / recommendation systems for TV/Film/streaming and influencers. I’ve designed the baseline of how the creator economy is measured, and even have analytics patents for these underlying measurement systems.

Prior to that CTO of another tech media company designing very unique embedded ACR systems send hyper contextual offers based on products shown on screen, integrated geofencing and BLE / partnered with NCR to deliver POS level redemption.

Lead product UI/UX revamp of Disney Parks and Resorts app, their Magic band system, and helped design and launch Sonos Home Builder.

Designed multiple automotive applications from the AMG drive experience portal, Hondas sign and drive registration system, and Nissans 360 event / tech experience leveraging nfc touchpoint navigation, gps tracking and return estimation, experimental car test drive systems, and worked with Nissan directly on their Eporo robots and underlying computer vision systems.

Headed up product on many CPG based software apps such as Parallels 3.0 my first product. The first vm with gpu acceleration in market. Plus numerous other HGTV/Sesame Street applications etc.

First job (while still in college was) technical manager for Dell.

And despite all that I cannot get an interview to save my life. I get rejections saying they are looking for people with more experience or fit. And I’m just thinking, that I’ve literally defined how certain industries are functioning and being measured and even I can’t get an interview.

I get why ATS systems are important, but it’s never been this hard to chat with an actual human, and getting auto rejected by a system who doesn’t comprehend the context and nuances of you experience is frustrating.

Just wanted to vent.

I need a job- can anyone help?

Hello, my name is Shanel. I am trying to move to Spain. I am a young both Mexican and American citizen with a degree in international business. For personal reasons, I need to move there by February of 2027, however I am so unsure how I can do that and work. I’ve looked into the non lucrative visa and although I likely could qualify, I need to work. So basically, I am reaching out to see if anyone knows anyone who is hiring remotely so I can apply and begin working almost immediately as I must prove I make almost $4000/USD a month + have been working at that job for 3 months.

Honestly, I feel like a joke writing this post and am prepared for the hate comments, but again for personal reasons I am using Reddit as a last resort as I am desperately
