This really got me. And I've had a bad day.

I really bought the premise of "Instagram gorgeous craft room" and the reveal really got me

111

u/The_Pandalorian 4h ago

Hope your day gets better starting... Now!

58

u/crushingdandelions 4h ago

Same on all counts. Let’s take whatever is making our day bad and cover it in fucking glitter!

29

u/Gardener_of_Weeden 3h ago

Glitter - the herpes of the craft area - last time I gave up and moved... it FOLLOWED

24

u/ProfessionalAd6530 1h ago

It's the most real craft room I've ever seen.

7

u/girlwiththemonkey 1h ago

It’s exactly what mine looks like. 😭

3

u/Adventurous_Ad_6546 23m ago

I know, I feel so seen rn.

2

u/Wonderful_Kale_7995 22m ago

I mean this is my dream craft room. You know you could make ANYTHING in there... after you found all the supplies and cleared a space.

6

u/k5j39 1h ago

I've just discovered/ r/GirlDinnerDiaries if you need a place to vent or just see other gals having a time too lol

6

u/linna_nitza 2h ago

Same I almost scrolled past because I can't handle the envy. So glad I stayed. I feel seen haha

1

u/Smingowashisnameo 58m ago

100%. I love her now.

855

u/interwovengirl 5h ago

I'm in this post and I don't like it lol

79

u/Chemical_Grape_2150 3h ago

Same. I don’t like it but I also have no idea how to organize it all

72

u/CurmudgeonDungeon 3h ago

First you collect things that can double as craft supply containers like over the door shoe racks and favorite but broken coffee mugs. Then you store those things in other containers until you have crafting supplies to put in them. Hope this helps!

16

u/Chemical_Grape_2150 3h ago

It’s a good way to start, thank you!

33

u/probableigh_not 2h ago

(it's a trap)

14

u/lemonpoundcaker 2h ago

My closet has my wife's clothes in it because her fucking closet has 75 organization tubs, shelves, racks etc. in it with zero things in them lol. She has her vision of how she wants it set up, so I just tell her to tell me when she needs things hung up. She's having fun, I'm starting to get my clothes out of the dryer.

5

u/CurmudgeonDungeon 2h ago

I might be your wife…but then again my husband is too afraid to touch my “organizational” mess even if just to help. You’re a brave partner!

8

u/lemonpoundcaker 2h ago

Oh no I learned after what I thought was "helping" the first time lol. Now I just wait for her to say she needs help haha. We have an unwritten understanding that our bedroom, the kitchen, and an office room are hers to do what she wants with. I get the garage and back yard. It's fun to watch her ideas come together, but I think we've spent enough money in The Container Store to put the manager of that place grandkids through college lol

3

u/Rugkrabber 1h ago

Genuine answer.

Collect everything first in bags, move them outside of the room. Get another bag and go through the items. Throw out stuff you haven’t used in 10 years. Just to start. Make it 5 or less if you have done it prior, moved, or the stuff isn’t that old. Measure the spaces you got. Shelves, dressers, any places where you can store containers. Get lots of transparent containers. Start with big items to store. Then move to smaller items. Label the containers. You’d be surprised how much can be stored when you put some effort into it.

Be careful not to buy more because you have space left. Don’t do this.

If you do this every year, and shorten the timespan of throwing things away, you’ll be able to maintain it to the point it doesn’t take a day but when you come across something to throw out you just do immediately instead of “I might need this”.

Majority has to do with accepting you need to throw things out. And even if you could have used it, it’s probably not that expensive to get again anyway. But the chances you’ll need it after all? Probably never.

I have adhd myself and nobody would know if they saw my desk. Maintenance is key. Before you start and after you finish, clean up, wipe it all down. Literally ten seconds of work. But every time you don’t, could end up in a day of work. And the longer you stop cleaning the more time it will take to clean and organise.

2

u/farfaraway 1h ago

Shelves. Throw stuff out. Finish projects. Get it together, ladies!

1

u/nittykips 😎 tolerate my jowls! 🙎‍♀️ 9m ago

Or you organize it except joke's on you!! Your brain can seem to only remember that random spot you had the item in beforehand so good luck finding it now!!

🧠 Hint: your brain says it might be in a drawer...

6

u/jackfreeman ✨chick✨ 1h ago

"WAUGH!!" immediately upon opening the door was my favorite part

4

u/Squirrel_Nrgy 1h ago

Oh gawwwwd me too 😂 even got my fav curse words in there! I’m always “working on my craft room” vs doing the craft 😡

2

u/hihelloneighboroonie 2h ago

Ha, my long term ex sent me this reel on instagram and I was like - waaaaaaaait does he just find this funny, or is he trying to say something?

1

u/BrewerBeer 2h ago

Ive seen it and attempted to clean it. Good luck friend!

390

u/maRthbaum_kEkstyniCe 5h ago

I always think that once I'm older and have more money, I'll finally have a bigger desk/more space/ even a craft room! And I'll finally have enough space to be able to keep it neat!

This video made me realize that the mess will just scale with the space expansion lmaoo

58

u/Ryoko_Kusanagi69 4h ago

It always just scales! Like how and where did it all come from?

29

u/carlitospig 3h ago

MICHAEL’S FUCKING SALES. 🤬🤬🤬

13

u/KateWaiting326 2h ago

Look, if Joann's didn't go out of business, I wouldn't have had to panic buy all that yarn

2

u/Ryoko_Kusanagi69 1h ago

Hahahah. I don’t even do fiber arts and I almost panic bought them all. and all the Xmas, and all the paint pens, and the crafts kits… what were we talking about again?

19

u/Carbon-Base 4h ago

Yes! The volume changes, but not our habits haha.

More space = more tools/supplies/"Wow, that's a great deal! I don't really need this right now, but how can I say no to that price?" purchases

4

u/nitid_name 1h ago

I always described my mother's crafting stuff as a gas. It expands to fit its container.

Of course, now that I have my own place and my own crafty hobbies, I realized it's a family trait. I have a three car garage that holds one car and my woodworking, garden, bicycles, and camping supplies. I have a spare bedroom that's full of knitting, sewing, beads and so on.

10

u/Sea-Breath-007 3h ago

I literally joined 3 ikea tabletops into one big desk this weekend and my craftroom still looks like that :)

Pretty sure the first thing I said after I finally unboxed most of my fabric after my last move, was 'I think this means I am never allowed to buy any more fabric'.....found a new website last week and fave over €300 added to my cart.

6

u/Apprehensive-Log8333 3h ago

That sounds amazing! I just got one of those cutting tables that folds down on both sides, putting it together sucked but no more cutting on the floor! It will probably never get folded down tbh

3

u/Sea-Breath-007 3h ago

"putting it together sucked"

Try joining 3 tabletops and finding out ikea really dropped the quality :(

I did it, but it took forever and ended up bruised and broken.

9

u/oracleoflove 4h ago

It’s true the bigger the space the more to fill it with…. I have a small hoard of craft supplies I have been slowing using up the last year or so.

While others were stocking toilet paper in 2020 I was hoarding craft supplies. 😂

3

u/CryptographerWide247 1h ago

Same! In 2020 I purchased a giant trunk full of gorgeous yarn from a woman who was moving. To this day I don’t know how to knit.

9

u/usernamesoccer 3h ago

I moved out of my childhood bedroom to our extra bedroom and now have two bedrooms. They are both messier than my one ever was and I was so sure I just needed more closet space and I wouldn’t keep clothes on the ground

3

u/Apprehensive-Log8333 3h ago

I fixed the leaving clothes on the floor thing, I got a dog who will pee on any clothing/sheets/anything that smells like me, that I leave on the floor. I don't know why she does that, she is house trained otherwise, but it did fix the issue

3

u/RunRunAndyRun 3h ago

I’m older… got a bigger desk and a work bench and it’s covered in shit on every surface because I never finish a project before I start the next so I just have a bunch of shit in progress all the fucking time

3

u/carlitospig 3h ago

I always think I’ll have more time and inclination to be more organized. NOPE.

1

u/indieplants 1h ago

me too!

but I'm 32 now.

but when I'm older and have more money I swear to god

98

u/hedwig0517 4h ago

I wanted to send this to my husband but then I thought twice about it because…. I want him to keep living in bliss pretending I’m not the way that I am.

31

u/Gardener_of_Weeden 3h ago

My late husband used to show me Hoarders and asked if my crafts counted. LOL ( I am STILL going through HIS box's.)

8

u/brapstoomuch 3h ago

I hovered on the share button and thought better of it…

4

u/No-Locksmith6534 4h ago

Its too late for me, so I did send it to mine... He knows what he married.

3

u/PocketOPosies 4h ago

I showed it to my husband and his response was “You should have coffee with her.”

1

u/hedwig0517 4m ago

We need a weekly meetup!

1

u/jpgrandsam 31m ago

Yea don’t call yourself out like that

73

u/Oil_Aggressive 4h ago

"It's gonna be a half organized disaster isn't it..."

I really should clean my room more...

52

u/misplacedfocus 4h ago

I feel exposed 🤣

31

u/Actual-Employee-1680 5h ago

Looks like mine! Lol!

30

u/CeeUNTy 4h ago

At least its contained in a room. I currently have a big box of chalk paint, brushes, and a small dresser sitting in the middle of my living room while waiting for me to stop changing my mind and get to it already.

17

u/lmflex 4h ago

Ah yes....staging stuff to work on in the garage or outside...or waiting to get put away. Living room is fine, then you realize it's been sitting there 3 weeks.

15

u/CeeUNTy 4h ago

3 weeks? Amateur. lol

9

u/Pilan 3h ago

Fookin rookie numbers 😅

3

u/MaritMonkey 3h ago

Husband I downsized from a house to a 1 bedroom apartment over COVID and the meeting point in my brain between the unfinished project that's taking up our one table and how little crafting I do now that I "have no space" drives me nuts. I feel so bad for him lol

33

u/SpinnerettePDX 4h ago

People entering my “craft room”. There’s no room because I live in a studio. It’s just a corner of chaos with 10 different projects going on 🫪

6

u/Due-Lifeguard-7506 1h ago

Oh my effing god how have I never seen this picture of Hillary. Obsessed.

24

u/GenericNameUsed 4h ago

It's not just me. Thank god.

28

u/Caffeine_Induced 3h ago

911? yes I would like to report someone broke into my home and made a video.

24

Too real 😂😂

20

u/annie-etc 4h ago

The algorithm has figured me out.

19

u/babyinthebathwater 4h ago

I just spent an hour cleaning up three square feet of my craft room and I hit on supplies from the following hyper fixations

- Makeup (I was aiming to unearth the top of my makeup table in this process)

  • Embroidery
  • Hand quilting
  • Paint by number
  • diamond painting
  • cricut shit

I also found the bag I keep my son’s baby teeth in, which is great because I had lost them and didn’t want him to discover them by mistake.

#justgirlythings

3

u/Apprehensive-Log8333 3h ago

When I was cleaning up my craft room, I found stuff I had absolutely no memory of acquiring. I mean, I know things got kind of out of hand during the pandemic, but why do I have three rattan birdcages? Where did I get this vintage 70s glass cutter meant to turn wine bottles into glasses? I don't even drink! There was a silk/cotton Pottery Barn comforter in there, it's really nice, but WHY was it in the craft room, and where did it come from? Is the stuff reproducing in there?

12

u/Turbulent_Ease2149 4h ago

Yes!!!! And you can be in your couch, watching TV and dreaming about all the crafts you can make!

29

u/madferrit29 4h ago

If all of it doesn't fall down on you when you walk in, is it even a craft room?!

13

u/Moody_Immortal_1 4h ago

Aw man! I felt that. The universe just will NOT allow us our fantasy, will it? Girl was about to show us heaven and her foot got tangled on a bit of the cloud and accidentally showed us her dirty laundry basket.

https://giphy.com/gifs/2rxGKflFfQAgNUYVtI

11

u/elramirezeatstherich 4h ago

Omg I was expecting it to look the opposite of my craft room and I was prepared to be jealous. This is slightly worse than the current state of mine, which makes me relieved. I have been resenting myself for the mess and chaos of my living spaces for a while and actually started culling and moving furniture in an attempt to solve the problem this week, but so far it’s still in the chaos of piles to organize. I’m leaving the craft room until last because it’s so overwhelming and scary 😬

9

u/Impossible_Regret725 3h ago

I realized I was laughing so hard because it's so relatable. The music, apron and music initially led me to believe we'd see tons of floor space, neatly organized shelves and a little nook for current projects. Then seeing empty shelves, 0 floor space and her tripping on boxes made it all 'real'. I like to think that even though it's a mess, I know where everything is located, and not searching through the piles because it's organized is laziness. She's a legit craft room and keeping it real!

8

u/Lazerdude 3h ago

LMAO, I have a friend that's a big crafter and she said this is spot on.

8

u/Woofbarkmeoww 4h ago

I thought I was about to see a satisfyingly organized room with craft bins floor to ceiling 🤨 the song got me too ngl

2

u/Fresh-Anteater-5933 2h ago

This was funny but I did actually want to see the beautiful craft room

7

u/throwaway1546874 4h ago

My clutter anxiety almost made me drop my phone rn, but I love this baddie's no-fucks-given style.

2

u/almondmilklattehag 4h ago

Teach me how to de-pile my office pls

3

u/Gardener_of_Weeden 3h ago

I usually recommend fire ( safely with an extinguisher near by - OK censors?)

5

u/aliceathome 4h ago

Welcome to my spare bedroom...

4

u/Hollybaby5 4h ago

Look, it’s Texas and it’s homecoming mum season. Yes I need two rooms, and I don’t need to get called out.

2

u/Glitterbomb4274 4h ago

I grew up in TX in the 80’s and 90’s so I can appreciate your need for space to make those beasts. Lol I honestly wish I still had one of mine just to help explain wth they are. 🤣🤣🤣

7

u/shut-up_Mike 💝 2026 Galantine! 💝 4h ago

You and me both sister, spend too much time organizing it and then dismantling it all within 60 seconds of my next craft

6

u/Gardener_of_Weeden 3h ago

I laughed so hard I snorted - I was waiting to be totally envious - BUT it looked like home! I loved the fall and the "damn it"

5

u/239tree 4h ago

I wish mine was this organized! #LivingTheDream

6

u/Ill_Quantity_5634 4h ago

How dare you call me out like that! /s

4

u/Glitterbomb4274 4h ago

How did the get in my house to film this. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

4

u/ireadbooksnstuff 4h ago

I finally have my dream craft room. It looks exactly like this. 😂😭😂

4

u/justmitzie 4h ago

Mine is in the back bedroom. Bedroom is a bit of a stretch, because there's no room for bedroom furniture or pretty much anything you'd find in a bedroom.

5

u/Augustsins 3h ago

I had my sound off and my firat thought was this

3

u/HeartFullOfHappy 4h ago

I can’t put into words how much I love this.

3

u/liljellybeanxo 4h ago

This is exactly how my crafting closet feels

3

u/Special_Wishbone_812 4h ago

I chortled pretty hard there.

3

u/DaisyHotCakes 3h ago

I feel so seen. Seriously though how do people keep this shit tidy and organized?? I’ve tried everything and it is still an explosion of fabric and yarn.

3

u/RattusRattus 3h ago

I fucking wheezed. I'm also the type of craft goblin that can be summoned by clearing a horizontal surface. Fresh space = fresh project.

3

u/Me_meHard ✨chick✨ 2h ago

How did you get live footage from my actual craft room

2

u/tinylumpia 4h ago

Lmaoooo

2

u/AhBee1 4h ago

At least it's organized!

2

u/almondmilklattehag 4h ago

hahahha real

2

u/Flashy-Barracuda5654 4h ago

This looks familiar 😅 In my defense, my costume closet is also in my craft room and I’ve had themes to dress for

I just died in a fit of laughter.

2

I love this!! Hilarious!

2

u/The_Time_When 4h ago

This is mine right now. Things just get thrown in my office/scraproom while we go through divorce. Starting to pack for storage while house is on the market and stuff is everywhere!

2

u/XtineCunningham 4h ago

Well I feel seen.

2

u/Savings-Wishbone-454 4h ago

I feel personally attacked. LOL

2

u/SouthernCharm-86 3h ago

omg thank goodness it was a reality one like mine! my circuit is in herr somewhere 🫤🫣🥴

2

u/50FirstCakes 3h ago

I was fully expecting one of those immaculately organized craft rooms with tons of cubbies filled with all sorts of colorful crafting doodads and neat little tools. That reveal cracked me up.

2

u/rag-pigeon 3h ago

I feel both seen, and personally attacked.

2

u/carlitospig 3h ago

Legit craft space, speaking as a crafter.

2

u/Apprehensive-Log8333 3h ago

Mine used to look like this, then I asked my friends for help. It took 4 people about 3 hours to get everything organized and neat, I was amazed, I was thinking it was a two-day job and we'd need a ton of new bins and stuff. But I already had plenty of bins. I took 2 carloads of stuff to the thrift store and there was plenty of trash too. My friends labeled everything so it'd be easy for me to find things. Now I can use my craft room for its intended purpose: obtaining and storing more craft supplies.

Just kidding, I just finished my daughter's wedding quilt and it is AMAZING to be able to just go in there and start sewing, or find the beads I am looking for, or my heat gun or whatever

Pretty much the only way to keep my craft area from looking like this was to remove the door. I like to think my fear of judgement helps to keep me in line....it doesn't but it's nice to think that there could be so much more chaos than the current level.
