Chasing monsoons solo - Karnataka (2200km bike ride)
Hi all!
This week I got to explore Karnataka solo on my humble little motorcycle (Avenger 160)
I am an active biker in Maharashtra and roaming around in monsoons is my annual ritual. (You can check my past posts). Last year I did 2000km in a week in MH. So this year I thought to change things up a bit and explore Karnataka during the rains. I traveled overall 8 days and 2200km, and was in Karnataka for 6 of those days.
Route: Pune - Mumbai - Gokarna - Jog Falls - Chikkamagaluru - Pune
The only other cross-state touring I have done is Goa, so this was a huge step up indeed.
The plan was to explore the roads/ghats and any obscure yet beautiful destinations and try to travel on roads that would be fun on a bike. Given the trip was scheduled during weekdays, I definitely dodged a lot of weekend crowd.
I was very impressed with the roads around Gokarna. The Mirjan fort and Yana caves looked like something out of this world. The Jog Fall view did not disappoint at all. If time permitted I could’ve stood there for hours. The Gerusoppa ghat was immensely fun to ride in rains, reminding me of the Tamhini ghats here which is unfortunately closed due to landslides. Climbing Mullayanagiri peak under violent winds was an experience indeed which was complimented by the very peaceful temple at the top. While I didn’t get to see the view of Baba Budan giri, the experience of peak monsoon was a treat. Lastly, the dosa at Town canteen and coffee in Chikkamagaluru was just amazing to have. Got back some fresh beans home for friends. The people were overall nice and reassuring.
It was quite a wonderful trip and I had an amazing experience overall. I am definitely looking to visit again soon to cover the places I missed.
(No, this is not AI written)

Help a brother out. Please. 🥲
I'm a Rajasthani, got posted in Karnataka and need some advice on deciding which place would be the best for me.
I have these stations as options:
Bagalkot
Ballari
Belagavi
Bengaluru
Bidar
Chamrajnagar
Chikkaballapura
Chikkamagaluru
Chitradurga
Devanagere
Gadag
Hassan
Haveri
Hosapette
Hubbali
Kalaburagi
Gokak
Karwar
Kolar
Koppal
Madikeri
Mandiya
Mangaluru
Margao
Mysuru
Nippani
Puttur
Raichur
Ramanagara
Shivamogga
Sirsi
Tiptur
Tumakuru
Udupi
Vijayapura
Yadgir
My priorities are:
Low to moderate cost of living (gotta save)
Urban lifestyle (good facilities, connectivity, low language barrier, gyms, cafes etc)
Low traffic (i want to save as much time as I can), easy commute.
I literally have no idea about any of these places. It's my first time coming to south India and as excited as I am, I'm also a bit nervous 🙂. Thanks in advance.
