2023 ZX6R: Is an ECU flash, aftermarket air filter and full exhaust actually worth it?

Post image
40 Upvotes

I have a 2023 ZX6R ABS with a LeoVince lv 10 slip on and stock air filter. I’m considering an ECU flash, aftermarket air filter, and eventually a full exhaust system.

For people who have done these mods on a 2019–2023 ZX-6R, was the difference actually noticeable on the street? I’m mainly interested in:
•throttle response and smoothness
•midrange/top-end power
• how much power you realistically gained
• whether a full system was worth the cost over just a slip on + flash
• reliability or drivability issues afterward

I’m planning to keep the bike for a while, so I’m more interested in a good long term setup than just making it louder. If you got a flash who flashed it? Im considering moore mafia

New 500-- clutch issues?

• Upvotes

Hey all, I bought a 2026 ninja 500. I recently passed the 600 mile marker so I did an oil and filter change along with cleaning my chain. BUT there's something going on with the clutch...I need help.

It's super wiggly and way too much "free" space. I am feeling that shifting is becoming crunchy and it's nearly impossible to shift onto neutral. It's brand new and I don't think I've ridden it very hard...so I'm not sure what this could be from? Help.

Ninja 500 2 year old brake fluid

Previous owner didn't ride the bike as much and didn't do any maintenance (he had it for 600 miles before I bought it off of him.) Should I bleed the brakes out at this point? Fluid's not dark but people have said to bleed it every 2 years.

R6 VS 6R reliability comparison

What is the real difference in reliability between these two motorcycles, especially in terms of the engine, and how long they last over time, and what is the risk of fatal breakdowns?

I didn't start out riding with a specific love of Kawasaki. They keep finding me.

First a Copart rebuild of a structural damage 2022 Z900RS and now I welcome a damaged and sorry looking 2025 Versys 1100S to the stable.

Zero intention, they just keep finding me at the right time when I need something to repair to distract me from the world.

4rr or 636

5’3ā€ 115 pounds
i’m short and weak and refuse to use lowering links on my next bike so what does a girl do in the sitch? i’m not a speed demon by any means but would like something quicker than my r3. not ready to upgrade yet but hopefully at the end of next season.

what would you guys recommend? would a seat shave be enough to make a 636 work for me? or should i play it safe with the 4rr, slightly smaller bike with seat shave would probs work well for me. will i be satisfied with the 4rr? if i go for the 4rr i plan on doing full exhaust and ecu tune.
i know people say the 4rr is a waste because it also expensive for a 400. but im happy to spend on a bike if it is the right one for me and i’ll have fun with it for a while. i’m planning on this next bike to be a forever bike. no plans on upgrading after this if i can avoid it.

happy to hear everyone’s opinions.

edit: also adjusting the preload? should help me touch the ground no? thoughts? worth it?

edit: wow thank you all for the thoughtful replies!!!!!

FAQ:
i don’t wanna lower it because a bike is built with the stock suspension height for a reason!!!! i want my bike to ride the way the engineers designed it to.
i want a 4cyl. i just dooo, i can’t help it. high reving, exciting top end, and i like the sportiness of the 4rr over a 650. and i don’t necessarily need 600+ ccs which is why im super open to the 4rr over 636 as well.

edit:
also i just have a good feeling about the 4rr. i think i’ll have fun with it and be comfy on it. my bf has a 600 so if one day i rly desire a proper super sport i know he’d let me ride his and see if it’s right for me.
thank you for all the thoughts and opinions. i think when the time comes i’ll go for the 4rr unless something massively changes between now and then.

edit: does anyone know if kawasaki has plans to update the 4rr soon? the new 6r body looks amazing and i'd love that look on the 4rr.

edit: GAAAAH IDK i want a 636 mannnn. should i just lower that bitch? drop the suspension 1inch, do a seat shave like 1.25 inch? adjust the preload? and wear big boots and call it a day?

I’m looking for an exhaust other than these bulky slip ons that are wrapped in that fake carbon fiber I personally think it looks tacky any recommendations are appreciated

Came back from yoga to find my baby knocked over

Tbh, I’m honestly so upset right now.

My ZX4R is basically my baby. I’ve had her for less than a year, and I’m still very much in that ā€œpark, turn around, and look at her one more timeā€ phase.

I parked her in an underground garage and went to a yoga class. I was only gone for about half a day.

When I came back, my baby was lying on her side. Someone had knocked her over and just left.

And somehow, my helmet was gone too.

The parking spot itself isn’t covered by any cameras, so at first I thought there was basically no way I’d find out who did it.

Thankfully, my dash cam caught enough of the other vehicle for me to identify some of its features. I then checked the cameras at the garage exit, and luckily I could see the same vehicle leaving and get the license plate.

So at least I have something to give to the insurance company.

I’m still waiting on the damage assessment, but there’s a real possibility they might call her a total loss.

I’ve had this bike for less than a year. I literally just went to yoga for a few hours. Ugh.

I know motorcycles can get knocked over while parked, but coming back to find your bike like that is such a horrible feeling.

Anyway, just needed to vent a little. Hopefully the insurance side of this goes smoothly.
