Seriously, to most Koreans, including the Korean government, Coupang was always considered a Korean company. They were shocked to ask, "When did Coupang become an 'American' company?" I guess when it was convenient to become one. In America, big corporate money paid to politicians is the single most important factor influencing government policies.

One Capitol Hill Democrat familiar with the Judiciary probe, who asked not to be named in order to speak candidly, questioned the GOP’s intense focus on Coupang, given the company’s limited footprint in the U.S., and pointed to the company’s ties to the Trump White House.

I have been looking up on Twitter because this is usually here that news spread the fastest, but I couldn’t find anything. No one has posted about it in a week. Did they find any other people missing ? What happened to the police officer ?

He's in my opinion a once in a generation actor so I was thrilled to read about his comeback. Surprisingly the national newspapers seem to be implying there's a growing backlash about his return, that he needs to retire to show remorse, etc. All the comments I see online are positive but of course there's no way to know how SKs really feel as an outsider.

Are people that mad about his return? He's one of the most talented actors out there and it's surprising that he's still getting grief all these years later, esp considering his (non)crime.

I've lived in Korea for a while and have some close Korean friends but I wasn't sure if this was a sensitive topic for some Koreans or just an awkward thing to bring up randomly lol. I know this forum is nearly all foreigners but have any talked about redevelopment with their native Korean friends and what is the general consensus?

It seems that more than the foreigners who write think pieces on the gentrification of Korea, Seoul locals are generally pretty neutral on redevelopment. Redevelopment obviously has an ugly history in Korea considering the previous actions of the government, but it seems that most Seoul locals understand that on some level redevelopment is necessary since the older buildings that are being redeveloped are basically unlivable.

If anyone has nuanced opinions based on how native Koreans actually think or links to articles I'd be grateful to learn more about this topic. I did some light research on Google but it didn't yield much from Korean perspectives. I know that the local public is 60% against redevelopment in Yongsan Park in recent articles about the Seoul mayor/the government, but that seemed to be more about redeveloping in a park rather than about Seoul locals views on redevelopment as a whole.

I'm now a fan of Mr. Queen. Currently finished binge watching it. I had many questions but the question above is still unanswered (based on internet, no direct answer for this). I don't want to ask AI about it but fellow kdrama fans instead. 😉
