In de Engelse versie werd de achtervoegsel als "of the Leprous Bandit" geschreven, maar dat helpt niet 😂

Ik denk het bestaan niet in het Nederlands, maar wat soort gevoel of betekening krijg je zelf van het?

Someone can recommend a textbook that is based on stories and or dialogues. Graded reader style. Preferably available in epub. Grammar explanation and or glossary included would be a bonus.

In just one year, already learned 6891 words, with actual Retention rate 90,7%
Used FSRS of course, with regular optimisation, and it worked pretty well

Hey guys, weird question but does anyone have a licence for the online environment accompanying this book? I have the ebook version but there is not login and honestly it is very expensive. I would be willing to pay someone for it but I just don’t have the 60€ :)))

I've been looking for new ways to learn Dutch. I spent a lot of time on Duolingo and, while I now know quite a lot of words, I still don't feel confident enough to have a proper conversation.

I’m a complete beginner in Dutch. I don’t even know the alphabet yet and have zero background in the language.

My goal is to be able to speak Dutch well enough for a call center job in about 2 years right now I’m focusing on starting Dutch from absolute zero.

I can study around 1–1.5 hours per day most days (sometimes a bit more on weekends). I will also have university classes starting soon, so the plan needs to be realistic and not too overwhelming. I can extend the timeline if I need more time.

Could you please recommend:

A good step-by-step study plan for absolute beginners aiming for conversational/speaking ability in 2years

The best free or cheap resources (apps, YouTube channels, books, websites, etc.) What I should focus on in the first 1–2 months

Any tips for staying consistent while also studying another language (English) and going to university

I want to improve my understanding of spoken language and I thought finding some interesting stuff on youtube would be both fun and educational. I am using a dutch vpn server via proton, have my youtube set to show results for the Netherlands and searching for stuff like filmrecensie 'movie name' (as far as I know they keep orig English titles) or filmrecensie in het Nederlands, etc. keeps giving me English results, sometimes even worse just a dutch title for a video that is in English.

Any ideas?

okay okay seriously.. so my mother tongue is Bahasa/malay and my second language is english (fluent)

so back during the colonial era in indonesia my maternal great grandma married a dutch soldier (my great grandpa). so i kinda have like… dutch blood runs through me 🫪. the past few days ever since i bought an iphone i lowkey cannot enter 18+ (ifykyk) website without using Vpn. So I decided to install a free Vpn and it constantly gave me netherlands. I think the universe wants me to learn dutch. currently im learning dutch… a bit confused a little bit but google says it will be easier for an english speaker so yea.

I can memorized the basic but im the type to deep dived for even one simple word, which is sucks because it made me more confused most of the time. But what I do was I took all the english basic words, translate it and try to put 2 and 2 together. and then i listen to dutch songs and take some of the cool sentences and try to translate it myself and if I couldnt remember I will refer back to my notes.

Any more tips that can help me to improve dutch to 20-25% by the end of this month?

I‘m from germany, my name is Celine and I traveled to the Netherlands couple of times this year but i don’t know the language yet. I want to learn Dutch so i can move there in the future

So I am not asking for anybody's OPINION of which spelling and pronunciation is "correct". What I would like to ask is which pronunciation people are actually using. Thank you.

I've been learning Dutch for a while, and I keep coming back to the same frustration. I don't actually think most Dutch grammar is that hard when it's explained properly. What makes it hard for me is the way it's usually taught.

A lot of resources are very text-heavy. You get a big explanation, a bunch of rules and exceptions, then exercises with lots of words you don't know yet. At that point I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be learning anymore. The grammar, the vocabulary, or both.

Apps often have the opposite problem. They're easier to use, but sometimes I can get through a whole set of exercises without really understanding why something is correct.

What I wish I had was something that built things up much more slowly. Teach me one small idea. Let me get comfortable with it. Then add one extra complication. Then another. And while I'm learning the grammar, don't also throw 20 new words at me. Reuse simple vocabulary so I can actually focus on how the sentence works. Basically, I want to understand how Dutch is put together, without having to read what feels like a grammar textbook every time.

I got frustrated enough with this that I started building a small learning tool around the way I wish I could learn it. Mostly for myself at this point. But before I get too attached to my own way of thinking about it, I'm curious if other people here have felt the same.

What has been the most frustrating part of learning Dutch grammar for you? And if you could go back to when you started, what do you wish you had?

I'm learning dutch at the moment and preparing for my A2 exams. I am taking in-person lessons (and love them) but those are going very...very slowly.

So in parallel, I got an inburgeringonline.nl subscription since my exams are in December.

I am wondering if you have a strategy for preparing for exams using this website. Any tips, tricks, or general advice is most welcome.

I just finished my Dutch (Flemish) A1 course, and need more practice!

I live in a small Flemish village and my boyfriend is Dutch (Netherlands) so I practiced speaking every day. I want to get better at listening and comprehending speaking, because often it is too fast for me.

I love cooking, history, travel, animals, art, and culture.

Any suggestions?
