I understand explanations of problems in Linear Algebra but have trouble seeing the solutions to problems myself

I feel like I kinda grasp stuff, but at the same time I feel completely lost and stupid. This was the first week, but it feels like I'm behind what needs to be understood so far. Don't know if it is just me, but it confuses me a bit...

Usually spending more time thinking and doing exercises resolves this.

Also it could partly be weak general algebraic skills. Things many people can see because they can do a few simple algebraic steps may not be obvious to you because you have to actively soend effort thinking about that.

Being able to understand explanations is very different from being able to come up with proof yourself. The usual advice is to practice with easy problems and write out your reasonings completely by hand, don’t stop at just “getting it”. Working out problems is a skill that needs active practice
