Idk just a thought when I rewatched some of the eps of S3 yesterday. there's so much in S3 that could have been discussed about her like how she's absolutely left out of any dinner for example or how she's left out of any activity like that game the brothers invented. or oh she's not even in the family picture. Like we could have gotten more time with her. see how she rises in ranks, etc. and see why she actually has that hatred towards the family and get a glimpse and see how the kids if not Su treat her horribly. Though we got that in the comic of ruins of empire (though I have my own fair share of criticism with that one XD) but this would have been nice to see in the series itself. (We also see her in the news paper XD.)

Edit: and no I'm not hating on Kuvira xD. I'm just saying what I feel like could have been done better imo but I guess I'm still getting downvoted... xD.

Yeah, I guess I'm late to this but god, the more I watch both shows the more I connect stuff together.
but yeah no both are parent figures and i don't see him like Zuko that much more than he is to Katara xD. Both lost their parents by fire benders and also had to mature up quicker than others and both are grounded emotionally than some of the others.

I know we got the full story of how wan became the first avatar and all but I wanted it in more details and I wanted it to become a whole thing

He is such an underrated character (for obvious reason of only showing like once in the whole show ) but he was so important in the world and I love his personality and him

This guy really carried the weight of a world that wasn't ready yet. Do you know what gets me about, him? Despite not having a canonical love interest, his story never really feels empty or like it needed one just to make his character interesting. He's basically just this guy who spent his entire life trying to help people, even when he had absolutely no idea what the hell he was doing and he still fights for humanity because they're still worth saving? Lmao. I know Korra eventually opens the portals again, but honestly? I don't think that automatically makes Wan's decision stupid. Nooo. Maybe the world actually needed that separation for a while. Humanity had spent generations treating the spirit world like something dangerous or something they could just take from. The spirits weren't exactly going to welcome humans with open arms either. you can't just throw both worlds back together and expect everyone to suddenly understand each other

I know the producers were limited in some ways with how deep into the Korra/Asami romance they could go, but this to me is such an easy thing they could have done for it and they totally blew it.

I get they probably wanted Mako to do something, since Korra basically ghosted him for 3 years and the 2 weren’t really gonna have a moment together in the final season if not for this, but it would have gone a long way for their relationship if it had been Asami who Korra finally opened up to about the lingering trauma of her battle with Zaheer.

Or, if you really wanted it to be Mako, you could have structured the episode in a way where the B plot could be Asami finally reconnecting with her father and truly forgiving him. The 2 narratives of these women finally putting their past behind them and opening the door to a brighter future would have been an effective way to tie their paths together and set up the payoff at the end of the series.

I like Korrasami, I think there’s a clear chemistry between the characters and their personalities compliment each other very well. I just wish the show did more to show the romantic tension develop during the final season to make the final payoff better.

Before anyone asks, I'm aware Metal Police is a friendlier counterpart of Dai Li. Metal Police keep the peace in the city, but without brainwashing and harsh imprisonment. They only target hostile thugs who are harassing non-benders.

In The Rift comic, Toph is written as a mean-spirited, sassy teen who doesn't care about spirits. This is not Toph; Toph is a rebel who just wants to fit in.

In the original show, Toph learned metalbending by feeling the earth within the metal box with her seismic sense. The comic missed an arc about Toph realizing she could've held still and listened to others- even more emotional character development is hearing their heartbeats that the comic missed.

In the original show, Toph becomes resilient by becoming THE hardest stone by keeping her ground to protect others in need. The writers of the comic forgot to write a character making a compromise by creating boundaries to keep harmony intact and respect Aang's wishes.

The comic created unnecessary drama for Toph because ironicly as elderly she went to the swamp to hear everything. Her behavior in the comic contradicts her actual development in Korra.

Let's put aside what ships we prefer and focus if you please.

When it comes to Mako and Korra’s breakup, I can definitely accept that though they’re good for each other as friends, they aren’t as a romantic couple. This episode shows why and does so in a way that I can never hate as the situation is far more gray than "Korra's to blame" or "Mako's to blame."

On one hand, you have Korra who's trying to save her family and tribe with the help of the United Nations army even after the President's told her not to. It may not be a highly ethical decision but it would get results.

However, on the other hand, you have Mako who has a stable job as a police officer, something he'd never dream of being back in his youth as a homeless kind, and was directly asked by the President to tell him if Korra's getting "rash." If he's later found out as an accomplice, he'd be fired by Bei-fong before he knows it. Outing his girlfriend wasn't a very nice thing to do but in his position at that moment, I can't fully blame him.

It was honestly one of my favorite parts of the show where I couldn't call either side fully in the wrong or the right. It's like with Doctor Who or Torchwood where the protagonists often have to make tough decisions and neither one is a very happy one. Heck, Avatar: The Last Airbender tends to be full of these moments. I don’t think I need to remind people of the Book 2: Earth finale.

Hii, I need some help I can't find the episode «The Aftermath» in paramount. Not only is that episode apparently missing but also most episodes aren't in order, is anyone else having the same issue?

Something that kinda bothers me on rewatches, is that the creators use Korra not being spiritual as a reason not to make Avatar State OP

But something I was recently thinking about - Tenzin wasn’t as spiritual as Jinora either. Maybe Korras biggest lesson after Book 4, is to learn from past lives/past mistakes

One of the first scenes in Book 3 is Korra trying to meditate and talk to a past life

But maybe Korras “destiny” wasn’t to be spiritual, maybe it was just to learn, and Korra can do that from Jinora (Aangs grandchild)

I think he left the family because he found out about what happened with Suyin and Lin, he didn't like how his mother was lying to the family and making them think that Lin was a jerk, so he felt betrayed and it gave him more of a reason to help Kuvira

Let’s establish a fundamental, unshakeable canonical fact right out of the gate. Korra and Asami are both bisexual. They are not "belated lesbians," they are not "suddenly gay," and they did not "turn" for each other. They are bisexual women. The immediate, systemic reflex of this fandom to label them strictly as "lesbians" or "gay" isn't the progressive win you think it is.

It is blatant, toxic bisexual erasure. It exposes a deeply ingrained, queerphobic discomfort with fluid attraction. You cannot celebrate Korrasami while simultaneously trying to scrub away, demonize, or invalidate the genuine romantic history they both shared with men. Attraction to men does not make their final romance less queer, and their final romance does not render their past attraction invisible.

Which brings me to the absolute brain-rot that is the "love triangle" discourse. Let’s stop calling it that. It sounds shallow, it sounds dumb, and quite frankly, it insults the actual writing of the show. A love triangle implies two people treating a third like a prize to be won. What Bryan and Mike actually gave us over those two and a half seasons was a raw, intentionally messy, completely non-linear depiction of three deeply traumatized, flawed teenagers trying to navigate high-stakes political chaos, personal identity crises, and raw hormones.

The fandom’s complete inability to let go of this narrative arc is actively obnoxious and possessive. You are so busy projecting your own high school relationship trauma onto these characters that you entirely missed the beautiful, chronological evolution of Korra and Asami’s bond. Their relationship didn't "come out of nowhere." While Mako was figuring himself out, Korra and Asami built a foundational, fiercely protective, emotionally intimate friendship that existed entirely independent of him. By Book 3 and 4, they were each other’s primary emotional anchors. To reduce that profound, gradual queer awakening to a "shallow subplot" is a massive failure of basic media literacy.

And Holy Spirits, can we please talk about the absolute hypocrisy regarding Mako? The irrational, malicious hatred directed at this boy on the dash is completely unhinged. Fans have spent years completely demonizing him as some sort of toxic, abusive monster. For what? For being an awkward, overwhelmed eighteen to nineteen-year-old young man who handled a messy teenage breakup poorly? Be serious.

This exact same phenomenon happens with Mary Jane Watson from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. For over twenty years, a toxic subset of Spider-Man fans has utterly demonized MJ, calling her selfish, a "cheater," and a villain, while completely excusing Peter Parker’s massive emotional shortcomings and mistakes. It’s the exact same script! Mako is held to an impossible, punitive standard of emotional perfection that none of his haters could ever achieve at that age.

But it gets weirder, doesn't it? Because the exact same corners of the internet that claim to despise Mako will simultaneously objectify and sexualize his character design. He is stripped of actual human complexity and reduced to either an object of pure disgust or pure thirst.

Even worse, toxic factions of the fandom constantly weaponize Mako as a punchline for cruel, demeaning, misogynistic, and queerphobic jokes online. Shippers use his past relationships to make derogatory jokes about "sharing" women, or to straight-up demean the sanctity of Korra and Asami’s relationship. It is gross, it is ignorant, and it flies directly in the face of everything The Legend of Korra stood for.

Mako isn't a villain. Korra and Asami aren't flat paper dolls for your monosexual shipping fantasies. They are beautifully written, deeply human characters who grew out of their teenage mistakes to become functional, loving adults who care for one another. It is time to grow up, log off, and actually watch the show with your eyes open.
