I found the shelter I made a while back—is it okay if I use this? There’s a gap that doesn’t look big enough for my whole body to fit through, though.

My mother has been taking care of my gecko lately as I have not been able to house him at my apartments any longer, I try to check on him at least once a week if not more. He has been refusing to eat lately, losing weight, not leaving his hide, and now I come over and see him like this. Feels like everything fell apart when he came over here but, to my knowledge, my mother has been doing everything I have asked of her.Im gonna start saving money to take him to the vet ASAP but Idk what to do any information helps!

Edit: He open his eye a little, looks glossy i think its shed but idk howni would remove that from the eye

Hello everyone! So I’m a new comer when it comes to taking care of leopard geckos, is this supply list accurate?

So I got my leopard gecko like 5 months ago when he was a baby and as he grew up I thought he was a albino but to think now I don't think he is albino and I thought of high yellow but high yellows have like dark black spots and my leopard gecko has brown spots and pink over his body I need help on figuring out his morph.

my 3 year old male leopard gecko went to the vet due to a blockage. he had ate substrate accidentally and without me noticing many times due to him being very food driven. i took him to the vet, told them everything in his tank, and they told me strictly paper towel only. i was informed to allow his current diet of only mealworms because its all he will eat, and to just add “reptivite” and more supplements. they put him on a 5 day laxative, he didn’t poop for a week- added onto the 6 weeks that he didn’t poop before, then he pooped about 8 times in 2ish weeks. he’s not firm anymore, thankfully, and he’s also not blocked up. i cannot have any roaches in my house, he will only eat mealworms- crickets rarely, but i always had a problem of keeping them from escaping my tongs and fleeing into the depths of his tank. is he going to be able to stay healthy in the ways that i’m possibly able to keep him healthy?

I got her back when she was underweight and I had to make her regain weight. (she was ≈16g). That's her weight today. Does she need to gain a little more weight?

Today I went to clean up the tank a bit and he came out so I let him kinda look at my hand. I'm trying to do the introduction slowly like many people have said and not to pick him up unless he shows interest.

I also feed him, but my partner often tends to take over that and feed him. He is also very natural at picking him up and sometimes I have to remind him that Mochya is still new so to chill a bit, but Mochya has never wagged his tail at my partner.

This morning it happened to me and it just made me really sad lmaooo

I know they can sometimes also get moody and to not take it personally. After a while he did come closer to me just look around though

If he becomes a gecko who doesn't like handling that is okay! But also for safety reasons he should learn to tolerate at least bare minimum handling,,

I've been trying to incorporate more exercise in my creatures life. She's very curious so getting her to walk isn't hard- just put down weird shit on a table and she's set for 30 minutes of exploring.

But I'd also like her to run more. Having her chase food in her terrarium isn't really viable, there's too much clutter to move the tongs around. Releasing the live food in the tank isn't an option, theres just too many hiding spots for it. I wouldn't be able to fish out any surviving crickets.

But recently she's been accepting of chasing tongs around on the dinner table if she's being offered crickets or locusts. So for cricket/locusts day I have her get some running in.

Right now I have her chase the tongs for 20-30 seconds before she gets her bug. By the time she can grab it she's usually so excited her aim is bad- she will miss the tongs and require several times. Yesterday she even did the hunting tail wag, thats the first time ive seen it in 3 years! I'm considering adding obstacles to the hunt, to maximise the exercise.

Am I teasing her too much with the food, or is this fine? I don't want to be mean to her.

Hi everyone, I’m getting my first leo soon and I was just wondering which multivitamin should I get for it? I also have the shadedweller 7% UVB too and I know that can give them the d3 that they need but I’m not sure how that affects multivitamins for them. Thanks!

We are first time leopard gecko owners and are looking for some advice. We got Lily a little over 3 weeks ago from LLL Reptile. For the first two weeks she was very shy, would hide all day and only come out when everyone was asleep. She'd be eating dubias and mealworms that we'd leave in her bowl and pooping regularly but will never accept anything offered via tongs. Still, she will never come out or eat during the day.

Last week we saw a shift in behavior when I found her sitting on top of her cave, and she would start poking her head out of the hide to check out our hands. Last night she actually climbed into my hand and up my arm. After that she kept pressing up against the glass all night as if wanting to come out. Also for the past week she has not eaten anything, which is a bit concerning. I have also noticed some digging in the substrate. This restlessness and lack of eating seems like nesting behavior, but I would like some advice.

Does anyone have any tips for handling a leopard gecko? 😭 My gecko is pretty skittish, and I understand that they aren’t really cuddly pets. I’m also a little nervous about handling mine. 😂
He has a HUGE appetite and basically thinks everything that enters the enclosure or comes near it is food. Sometimes he even walks towards me with his hunting instincts kicking in, even when I’m not giving him any food. 😂
Once, when I picked him up to put him back in his enclosure after he escaped, he started nipping at me. It was probably just defensive behavior, but it definitely scared me a little after that :D
I’d really love for my leopard gecko to become more friendly and comfortable with me. Of course, I know every gecko has a different personality and not all of them are calm, and mine definitely isn’t. 😂 But if anyone has any tips on how I could get him to be less skittish and more comfortable with handling, I’d really appreciate it!

im feeling terrible about this decision and i really want her to go to a good home, but she is needing to be syringe fed daily and still barely takes anything in. im not sure what to do and it is causing me a lot of stress. she is a sweet girl but very skiddish and has poor vision. vet said she is dehydrated but she won't eat or drink. she is capable of it because i have seen her eat before but nothing works.

Something that my juvenile can grow into - currently 5 months old.
Does this tank from eco terra look good? In terms of measurements?
Ideally I would love to get a 120cm tank but with finances and space I can’t do that currently.
I am picky with Tanks, has to have mesh lid, Deep enough for substrate, wire ports etc etc

I’ve never owned a gecko before, and I recently received this set up. I wanted to know how I could improve the set up and some tips on feeding since I’ve found it difficult so far. He is three years old and has had this set up for that whole time as far as I know. He spends most of his time during the day under the ship on the left side and usually comes out around 8pm till after I go to sleep. Very curious fella too, he likes to come out and let me hold him relatively often which has made me very happy. I just want to make him as happy as he’s made me :).

I have my tank set up with a ZooMed thermostat and timer, hooked up to a 100w halogen basking light and a 60w ceramic heat bulb.

Thing is, this SUCKS. The ZooMed timer gets off by HOURS every day, so I have to adjust it manually, and I'm sure it's throwing off her sleep schedule. Additionally, the halogen bulb can get too hot, causing the thermostat to rapidly turn it on and off, every 30 secs or so, which burns out the bulb, and I'm sure stresses out my gecko.

Can anyone please tell me SPECIFICALLY what to buy? Every "heating guide" I've been directed to vaguely tells me what temperature range I'm looking for, and stuff about the IR and UVB. I already understand all that, I'd much prefer brand names, links, anything. Because clearly, doing it myself is not working. Thanks so much

I recently rehomed one of my leopard geckos in this new terrarium and I’ve had problem with heating it properly.
It’s a 36x18x18 inch tank with a mesh top and I’ve changed the bulb for a 75watts instead of 50 and it still won’t heat up to the desired temperature, I did try putting something on top so heat can’t escape as much but it still won’t hit 30 Celsius or something closer! I’m kinda nervous and wondering if buying a 100 watts bulb would solve my problem, any advice ? Also he’s been hanging out in his cold hide more so I don’t know if it’s a problem for him or not (cool side is at 22.8 Celsius). Anyways, please be kind I’m trying to get advice to improve their lives, thank you!

Hi, I’ve had my gecko for 10 years now. He used to be on dirt but was switched to mostly tile early on as he would often end up eating the dirt with his bugs. At the time, tile was recommended but after buying him a new tank and looking for inspiration here I’ve seen people using a mix of playsand and topsoil. Is this an impaction safe choice? I would love to give him a more natural enclosure but I do get nervous of the risks of loose substrate. Also can plants be planted in this substrate, and if so does anyone have any recommendations of some that last? It is amazing that the care requirements keep evolving to be best for them. Things have changed a lot for the better in the 10years of owning him but I seem to have been left behind in the substrate department. Thank you

For the last two sheds, my leo has accidently ingested his humid hide substrate. First he ate some spaghnum moss and had to regurgitate it. To be safe, I switched him back to paper towel strips in his humid hide. But during his most recent shed, he must've ingested several pieces of paper towel. They took their time to pass through and came out with his feces.

I'm wondering if there's a different substrate I could try out in his humid hide that he is unable to accidently ingest while pulling off shed. A family member suggested using washcloths in the humid hide and just changing them out frequently. Does this idea have any merit? Does anyone else have suggestions or similar experience with this issue?

As of today I have taken a rescue Leopard Gecko into my care. For the record I owned a Leopard Gecko for 18 years before it passed away last year, so I am familiar with them.

A family gave it into my local pet shop saying their kids lost interest, so her history is difficult to say. All I know is:

- she is a few years old at least
- she lived her entire life with no heat bulb
- she barely ate at all

She has retained shed on her head and feet, I have a humid hide setup for her which she has been spending her time in today. She also ate 3 small grasshoppers today.

I have an appointment booked with my reptile vet tomorrow morning to get her checked over.

She is only 25g and very small. I have a cool end hide, and a humid hide setup for her, with a small hide also in the middle of the viv. I also have put down kitchen rolls as substrate to monitor her stools.

Any advice for her rehabilitation journey?

This video shows his first time discovering the hole in the ground between the cash registers (one of which he uses as a pillow in the video) inside the Super Duper Mart that leads down into Subway West. He has since used it at least three times that I’ve noticed.

Other than this, the only other access point he uses regularly is the stairwell inside the Hospital. I wonder how long before he discovers that the Monorail is itself a big tunnel with three different entry/exit points 🤔

I have no idea what to do. About six months ago, after my heater broke for a few days, my gecko started acting off. She used to react whenever I entered the room and attack her food quickly when fed, but I noticed she was just standing over her food bowl and not eating. I left the food there and hoped she would find it, but she never did. I started tong feeding her, but even then she was struggling to target it and kept looking at the food’s shadow

It has progressed to the point where she won’t eat. She still runs over to the food bowl when she hears the cage open, but she won’t eat from tongs or the bowl. She keeps looking off to the side or at shadows. She won’t even bite when the food boops her nose. I also noticed she seems disoriented when walking around her cage as well, bumping into things and walking slow.

Temperatures in the tank look right (94 degrees F on hot side and 74 degrees Fahrenheit on the cold side). I have not been giving her vitamins consistently and I mainly feed her mealworms. I didn’t realize the vitamins could be a problem until she started refusing food in the past week or so. What should I do?
