Meta /r/LFG is Looking for a Few New Moderators!

Hey, everyone!

We're looking to add a few new moderators to the /r/lfg team, specifically those who are regularly around while most of our current moderation team is asleep.

Our biggest gap in coverage is between roughly 5:00 PM and 7:00 AM Pacific Time. You don't need to be available for that entire window (and we don't expect you to be), but if your normal waking hours fall somewhere within it, we'd like to hear from you.

What Does Moderating /r/LFG Involve?

Most of the day-to-day work is pretty straight-forward. We have Automod and a custom bot that catch or flag many potential rule violations for us, so you'll generally be:

  • Checking the modqueue and verifying whether the reported post/comment actually breaks the rules or is a false positive.
  • Responding to questions and appeals in Modmail.
  • Handling reports and other issues that come up.
  • Bringing unusual situations to the rest of the team for discussion.

We have Discord notifications for the modqueue, so you won't need to spend your day refreshing Reddit. We do, however, need moderators who can check in and handle the queue multiple times throughout their day.

Who Are We Looking For?

You don't need previous moderation experience.

We're much more interested in finding people who care about /r/lfg and want to help keep it a useful place for people to find tabletop games. Moderation tools and process can be taught.

There are a few requirements:

  1. Your Reddit account must be at least a year old.
  2. You must have access to Discord, since that's where the moderation team communicates.
  3. You should have some demonstrable history of participating on /r/lfg.
  4. Your normal schedule should overlap significantly with our 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM Pacific coverage gap.
  5. You should be able to check the moderation queue and modmail several times throughout your day.

We're looking for people who can apply the rules consistently, communicate respectfully with users (especially when those users aren't particularly happy with us), and recognize when something isn't clear-cut and should be discussed with the rest of the team.

We're planning to bring on around three people initially, with the expectation that not everyone will necessarily stick around long-term. Moderating isn't for everyone and that's okay.

Interested?

We've put together a short application form for you to fill out here.

Thanks to everyone who applies and, more generally, thanks to everyone who helps make /r/lfg a place where people can find a table and roll some dice.

Player(s) Needed by GM DM Looking for Players - [Online][5E 2024][Est-7:30pm]

Hi! I’m Noel! I’ve been DMing for a couple of years now, and I’m looking to broaden my horizons and tell some different kinds of stories together.

My DMing style is roughly 60% roleplay / 40% combat. I really enjoy collaboration, creative problem-solving, and players who like contributing to the world and story rather than just following a set path.

🎲 What I’m Looking For

I’m looking for semi-experienced, inclusive players to join a monthly online campaign.

New players are absolutely welcome too, as long as you have a basic understanding of TTRPGs and are willing to learn!

I’m currently running D&D 5.5e, but I’m also interested in systems that are less complex than D&D. The system is ultimately just a tool — the goal is to create a great story together.

🌎 The Goal

I want to tell vastly different stories across worlds and IPs we already know and love, while still putting our own spin on them.

Some of the campaigns I’m currently planning include:

  • ⚙️ Fullmetal Alchemist
  • 🐉 Dragon Ball Z
  • 🗡️ The Legend of Zelda
  • ❤️ Kingdom Hearts
  • 🐲 How to Train Your Dragon
  • 🦸 Justice League
  • 💾 TRON
  • 🍄 The Last of Us

Each campaign would have its own tone, setting, and style, so there should hopefully be something for everyone!

If any of this sounds interesting to you, leave a comment or DM me! Tell me a little about yourself, what kind of games you enjoy, and what campaign caught your eye. I’d love to chat and see if we’d be a good fit!

GM Needed by Existing Group [Online] [Tuesday] [6:00 P.M. EST] [D&D 5E 2014 or 2024] Preestablished Role-Play Heavy Group of 5 Players Looking for a DM

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I am in search of a DM for my group of five, including myself. We started playing together earlier in the year and want to stay together for our next campaign because of our group dynamic and synergy. All of us value roleplay and story elements. We want a DM who reflects these values and is interested in directly including the player's inputs and characters into the world and story.

As for our preferred setting, we don't mind much on the exact world details, but we are looking for more High Fantasy vibes. We enjoy more classic stories but are willing to explore something a bit unorthodox if the pitch is right and sounds like fun.

We are looking for someone to tell a story with and for someone who wants to do the same. At the end of the day, you don't have to be perfect by any measure just willing to tell a story and hear how it plays out with us. If you are interested, you can send a friend request over to me on discord (ewwitspanda) and we can talk some more on game ideas and see if we vibe!

Player(s) Needed by GM Looking for ESL Learners to Join a Cohort for a TTRPG Based English course [Online] [D&D 3.5]

Hi everyone! I’m currently developing and piloting an English language course that uses elements from games like D&D as a way for ESL learners to practice real time, in-context, communication, and I’m looking for learners who would be interested in joining a pilot cohort.

The course is 100% free and designed primarily for intermediate English learners (approximately CEFR B1–B2) who want more opportunities to actually USE English rather than only study grammar and vocabulary.

Instead of a traditional class format, much of the course takes place through a collaborative roleplaying campaign. Players create characters, investigate problems, negotiate with NPCs, make decisions as a group, and respond to unexpected situations. All in English.

The goal is to give learners repeated practice with skills such as:

* speaking spontaneously

* explaining ideas and opinions

* asking follow-up questions

* negotiating and reaching group decisions

* describing events, people, places, and actions

* listening to other speakers and responding appropriately

* developing confidence communicating in English

*You do not need any previous tabletop RPG experience.*

The game system is being simplified specifically for use in an ESL course, so learning complicated game rules is not the point.

System will be a modified D&D 3.5

Because this is a pilot, I’ll also be asking participants for feedback about the experience. I’m particularly interested in learning what parts of the course are engaging, confusing, useful, or difficult so I can improve the program before offering it more broadly.

The planned course includes an initial individual session followed by a small-group campaign, so I’m looking for people who are interested in participating consistently rather than joining for only a single game session.

If you:

• are an adult ESL learner around the B1–B2 level

• enjoy games, storytelling, or collaborative activities

• want more practice speaking and interacting in English

• are comfortable participating in a pilot program and giving feedback

I’d love to hear from you.

If you're interested, send me a DM or comment below, and I can provide more information about the course, scheduling, expectations, and how the pilot will work.

And if you know an English learner who might enjoy something like this, feel free to share the post with them.

Thanks!

Group Needed by Player [Online] [DND 5e 2014/2024] [Est] Looking to revisit Curse of Strahd!

Upvotes

I'm 24 ftm, bi and ace so I'm looking for an LGBTQ+ friendly table! I've played Curse of Strahd before but the campaign ended up fizzling out unfinished due to a lack of players and scheduling issues so I'm here seeking to venture into the mists of Barovia once more.

It has been a good year since playing the module and I know everyone can run games just a bit different, it really was a setting and story I enjoyed as well so I'd like to play it to the end! ☺️

My characters all tend to fall into the community somewhere as well and I enjoy integrating that into story arcs with themes of self discovery self acceptance, perhaps not having a space to express themselves as freely before the adventure.

I'm coming up on having played for three years and my favorite aspects of the game are the storytelling, roleplaying and collaboration! I am a very creatively driven person with social anxiety so I've found that DND gives me a creative and social outlet where I don't feel so intimidated and can meet new people!

I'm a lighthearted and optimistic player, I enjoy bringing humor to scenes without taking out all the seriousness that situations deserve and often find myself smiling until my face hurts by the end of the session!

Horror is one of my absolute favorite genres and in campaigns like this I found myself thriving in that environment, I enjoy playing characters that although come from tragedy can become the light in the darkness and work towards a better future for themselves.

I like playing characters where their stories come out when it's time, unraveling to the party throughout the campaign.

A majority of my characters are running from something or are in some sort of danger, perhaps it's looking out for their own safety or that of the group but I enjoy my characters gradually putting more trust in the party as their relationships grow.

Honestly I write backstories with a lot of tragedy but hopeful futures with a lot at stake. Say their freedom, family, or even their own bodily autonomy and mind is at stake due to a curse? I love stories where there's something to lose and hurt to heal.

While I don't have a problem with combat I do have ADD so if it's a game that's anticipated to have combat only sessions frequently I may not be interested. I do have fun in combat and all but if it's running over an hour to full sessions I tend to become disengaged.

What I'm looking for at a table is:

• No play by posts

• No one shots, looking for a long term campaign

• No paid games at the moment

• Games starting from 4 pm earliest to 8:30 pm est at the latest from Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or all day availability on weekends!

• A table of 3-5 players preferred, I tend to get overwhelmed with more

I do currently have 4 characters and I'm working on a 5th that may be fitting with her curiosity of the dead and necromancy! I tend to play more martial classes than spellcasters though even if I usually multi class

I have a campaign on Fridays at the moment but I'm free weekday mornings and evenings after 5 pm est, trying to keep my weekends free right now but I am up for discussing schedules! Thank you for reading :)

Closed [Online] [5e 2014] [Tuesday] [CST/CDT] [21+] Call From the Deep - A Sea Faring Adventure that will drive you insane!

Hello reddit! You can call me Ace, and I will be the DM for this campaign. A friend of mine has been a forever DM, and I want to give him the opportunity to be a player! The campaign is for 4~ players, so I have 3-4 open seats!

The campaign itself is set on the Sword Coast and Sea of Swords (Faerun/Forgotten Realms) and will begin in the city of Neverwinter.
Lord Dagult Neverember is currently sending an expedition to the island nation of Gundarlun. A mysterious ship seems to have crashed there, and the militia is currently busy dealing with a rise in piracy. For whatever reason you desire, you are going on this expedition. Some join for the money, others out of loyalty to Lord Neverember, and some just want to get out of Neverwinter.

This game is fairly exploration heavy, there will be lots of traveling, lots of water based combat, but also plenty of land to explore as well. There are heavy themes of madness and mind control in this game.

Currently looking at Tuesdays from 6pm-10pm CST for scheduling. There will be a small break around 8 pm.

I am not the most experienced DM, I have run a couple one shots, but for the most part I have been a player. Please be patient with me, and any advice is welcome, just please be nice :)

If you are interested, feel free to PM me, or comment here!

GM Needed by Existing Group [Online] [5e 2024] [GMT+8] 4 players looking for a DM on Tue/Wed nights (9PM-12AM), starting Oct

Hey folks,

We're a small group of 4 players based in GMT+8 looking for a DM to be the lead storyteller in a table for a campaign! We're aiming for an October start, on either Tuesday, or Wednesday night.

Quick background:

We've all played a few campaigns before, so we're not totally fresh, but definitely still on the novice side. We know how to roll attacks and spells, we won't be rules lawyering you or min-maxing everything. We're in it for the fun and the story.

As for playstyle: we like a good mix of everything. Combat's great, but we also enjoy exploring weird places, RPing and building relationships with NPCs rather than just treating them as quest dispensers. We like following story threads and getting invested in plotlines, we won't be the type to go totally off the rails just to be chaotic. We're collaborative and generally just down to have a good time.

What we're looking for in a DM:

Honestly, just someone who's chill and wants to tell a story with us. We're not looking for a hardcore tactical simulator or a DM vs players vibe. We respect the rules but rule of cool can come into play sometimes. Whether you have years of experience under your belt or if you're new to DMing and want to start your journey, we're totally fine with both! We're patient and won't get mad if you forget a ruling, we'll just roll with it.

We're okay with all VTTs (we usually use foundry, previously used roll20 so we're proficient in both! ;)

Most importantly: we respect each other's time and stay engaged during the session. 9PM to 12AM GMT+8 is locked in for us, and we're looking for someone who can commit to that too.

If this sounds like a fit, hit me up on Reddit DM. Just tell us a bit about yourself, how old you are, your DM style, and if you've got any campaign modules or ideas in mind (or if you want us to pick a module), feel free to ask us questions too! We're pretty easygoing.

Cheers,

The Group

Closed [Online][flexible 5e 2014/2024 with HEAVY homebrew][Monday 13:00 GMT+4] Pirate liberation campaign against an opressive World Government and a manipulative evil New World's Order "The Two Piece" looking for a replacement lvl 14 player

Hello, my name's Ilya, and I've been running a One Piece inspired campaign for about a year and a half now.

Even though the world and the story are inspired by One Piece (evil world government, devil fruits that give you superpowers and my version of haki included), they are still my own creation, so you don't have to know anything about it to play.

The story is very character based, but as this campaign has been going for a while the stories have converged into a central plot about opposing an ancient powerful BBEG who's set on ridding the world of death aided by a compliant World Government and a faction of united villains by the name od New World's Order

The vibe for the game I'm going for is mosly fun, relaxed and comedy oriented, with a bit of seriousness and drama when the time calls for it. I want everyone at the table to have fun, feel cool and enjoy the journey first, everything else second.

We are playing the game on Mondays 1pm GMT+4

THIS IS IMPORTANT PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR TIME ZONE

This is intended to be a long campaign and as a replacement player you'll be hopping in as level 14 character as the story is a bit over half way at this point (debatable). I'd really like to find someone who's willing to work with me to bring you into the fold, as we'll need to have a long chat at character creation with this campaign being heavy on homebrew

Don't let that intimidate you, as I like to think of myself as a very accommodating DM and am willing to help you as much as you need if you are passionate about the game and want to have chill and fun time

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [Other] [Sunday 12pm EST] War of the Twin Goddesses, a newcomer friendly Shadow of the Demon Lord campaign.

The empire has fallen and the Cult of Darkness festers in the land, growing in the power vacuum left behind. The land is in chaos and the task may fall upon unlikely heroes to rise and save the world from the darkness.

I apologize if that premise sounds a bit basic. I had posted here earlier with a link to a video I had made to introduce the setting in a more interesting format, but it was removed. I’d be happy to share the video upon request in private messages.

I am looking for 4-5 players to join this campaign. Newcomers are welcome, weather you’re new to RPGs or this ruleset in particular, you’re welcome to join and I can help where needed.

The ruleset used for this campaign is Shadow of the Demon Lord, which is comparable to D&D 5e. To put it in reductive terms, SotDL is like a different version of 5e. The most notable difference is character creation and levelling. Players start as level 0 characters where they choose only their race and profession. Once the party reaches level 1, then players choose a path (paths are this game’s equivalent to classes). At higher levels, players will choose extra paths for their characters.

The game uses milestone levelling, meaning that the party gains one level after each adventure. That being said, I aim to write adventures on the longer end, which I expect will take three to four sessions to complete, though for the first adventure which will take the party from level 0 to level 1, I aim to have that be short enough to finish in one session.

The maximum level is 10, so allow that to inform expectations regarding campaign length.

There is no session zero, as character creation is really simple and thus, doesn’t warrant a group meeting to work on character sheets together. Copies of the rulebook will be provided to players. If you need help with character creation, I can help but I would suggest at least trying to figure it out on your own first.

As for tools, we will be using Discord for communication and Owlbear Rodeo for combat grids and tokens. For character sheets, players will be provided with fillable character sheet pdfs, though you are free to find whatever method you’d like for recording your character.

Sessions will be held on a discord server weekly at 12pm EST on Sundays. Sessions will last until 4pm. If you are interested, please private message me here on reddit, where we can exchange discord information. I would like to talk to you over discord in a short interview, mostly to get to know you as a player. After a moment of consideration, I’ll let you know if you’re in the group or not. This process will hopefully not take too long. I will try my best as to not leave you in suspense for too long, letting you know as soon as possible where your membership in the group lies.

The first session will be this upcoming Sunday if we get enough players.

GM Needed by Existing Group [Online][5e 2014] [CET] [Mondays 19:00] Dedicated RP-Focused Group of 5 Seeking a DM for Homebrew Campaign!

Hi there honourable dungeon masters and storytellers! We’re a recently formed group of 5 players looking for a DM who has a homebrew fantasy world we can get lost in and a long running campaign that we can all see grow and develop as the game goes on!

In terms of setting preference, we’re primarily looking for a traditional high-fantasy world. We enjoy the versatility that high fantasy offers and the wide range of stories it can support which gives a lot of themes a story can go through! While we appreciate darker themes when they serve the story, we’re not particularly interested in sci-fi settings, grimdark worlds, or campaigns heavily focused on gritty survival.

As a group we all share a strong interest in roleplay, character development, party dynamics and stories that feel personal to the characters involved. One of the biggest things we’re hoping to find is a DM who enjoys incorporating our character backstories into the broader narrative/world allowing character arcs to develop naturally alongside the story.

Outside of roleplay we value consistency (Showing up), being one of the key factors of a long running group and also care to be attentive and engaged players when we are at the table! Communication in general is also one of the best tools when issues arise, and keeps everything running smoothly so things don’t fall through. We also enjoy the use of webcams to increase the social aspect of the game!

Ultimately, we’re looking for a DM who enjoys building a story with their players, values strong character involvement, and is interested in creating a long-term campaign where both the world and the characters can grow together. But most of all someone we can also call a friend and hang out with!

System requirements: DND 2014

Availability: Monday: 19:00-23:00 CET, Wednesday: (some exceptions) 19:00-23:00 CET

Preferred way to play: Discord for voice and camera, any VTT

Here is a bit about us:

Luke (M, 23, He/him): Hi there! I’m a video editor and part time gamer from the Netherlands. I like to make music with my band and hang out with friends in the meantime! Ive been playing DnD for roughly 8 years by now and get a lot of my enjoyment in the roleplay and dynamic of a party. Seeing what sort of worlds other DM’s have made is incredibly cool and I love to learn about others settings!

Matt (M, 27, He/Him): Greetings! I'm Matt, an Ex-Esports player Gymbro. Currently working together with Best friend and roommate on making our own VTT, public soon! I love passion, and I believe DND can be an aspiring tool in order to discover, explore and share one's passion to another through immersive Roleplaying. Please give me your worst, a challenge, a path and I'll bring the Wrath. See more of me on Youtube > Roll For Impact > The Stranger > Nylus von Stonen

Sori/Lukas (M, 27, he/him): Hi there! I'm currently finishing my education/training to be a kindergarten teacher, after which I'd love to go study social work. I've been a player and dm for roughly 11~ years now. Mostly played VtR before switching to DnD. My favorite part about roleplaying is definitely the deep diving we as a group do, in each individual backstory or overarching plotline of the campaign, while we grow as a party IC and OOC.

Diana (26, She/Her): Hi, I’m currently a student studying for my postgraduate degree! In my free time I love to play video games, read, make videos, and just hang out with friends! I’ve been playing D&D since 2020 and my favorite thing about it is being able to create and tell an interesting story with other amazing, creative players! I love going in depth into characters backstories and how their motivations can really drive the parties goals. I’ll talk for hours after a session about the world we’re set in and the characters everyone has developed!

Jack (20, He/Him): Hi! I’m a student studying Film Production! I’m a big video gamer, reader and card gamer! I’ve been playing dnd for about 7 or 8 years now and whilst the majority of my time has been as a player recently I’ve been a forever DM (as of the past 3 years I haven’t been a player once!!! 😭😭😭) My favourite part of dnd has to be the collaborative storytelling with how the players and dm interact together to create both an overarching plotline but also individual character arcs!

Player(s) Needed by GM [other][online][PT][Monday][18+]Pirate Borg 1-2 More Player Wanted

Greetings, scoundrels, thieves, rogues, and pirates.

I'm running a short to medium length Pirate Borg campaign and looking for 1–2 more players to join the filthy ranks. You'll be thrown into a lethal sandbox in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy, where war, undead horrors, occult forces, and general madness are dragging the world toward apocalypse.

You won't be playing heroic do-gooders. You'll be desperate bastards with loaded pistols, questionable morals, and whatever ambitions you can keep alive long enough to pursue. There is no predetermined story you're expected to follow. Characters are randomly rolled, death is very much on the table, and what you do with the miserable life the dice give you is entirely up to you. Become a legendary pirate. Steal a ship. Hunt horrors for silver. Get filthy rich. Become an exotic drug kingpin. Start a war. Or simply try to survive the end of the world.

I've already got three solid players, and we're setting sail next Monday. Sessions run weekly on Mondays at 7 PM PT for roughly 3–4 hours, using Foundry with Discord for voice. The crew is established and the game is happening, no weeks of session zeros or waiting around to get things off the ground. Pirate Borg is rules-light and easy to learn; no experience is required.

Roll a character. Play next Monday.

If you're interested, shoot me a DM with a little about yourself, why you want to join, and what you're hoping to get out of the game. We'll go from there.

Bring rum. Bring powder. Bring a spare character.

Player(s) Needed by GM [online][EST][other]Horror/cryptid research system where your trying to survive on a cryptid filled boyscout camp

Hi, my name is Alexander, a DM who has been running campaigns for 8 years. I am posting this in search of play testers for my ttrpg system I am trying to get published. It is a system inspired by boy scouts, camp slasher movies, and cyptids. The system uses the same action economy and d20 base system as dnd. Instead of classes that let you gain ability's, your abilities are based on the merit badges you taught over the summer. I know there are a lot of questions so I will try to post some that my other playtest group has had

are the stats the same as dnd or no?

They are not, instead of your core 6 they are different for this system, the stats are as follows

Physicality - physical ability, think a PR in weight lifting or your fastest sprint comes from physicality

Mentality - your ability to hold your composure in stressful situations as well as resist fear

Endurance - your ability to do physical things for a long time and be generally durable

Intellect - your memory, and your general ability to understand concepts and learn how things work

Observation - your ability to see your surroundings and know what's around you

Charm - your ability to act and convince others

In a similar vein to dnd your stats go from 1-10, and every 2 in a category you get a +1 to that stat. However unlike dnd where your stats can increase by leveling up, you instead get a +1 in a stat when you crit a roll with that stat. So if you were trying to push a monster back and you crit a physicality roll you feel stronger because you are. However, in turn a natural 1 causes your stats to decrease, though your base stats are as low as the decrease will allow.

Will we be hunting down the monster at all?

that depends on the goal you set at the beginning of the campaign. When planning the campaign you and other players need to set what to be the win condition goal. So far there are 3 win conditions and you choose which one you would prefer.

Kill - trough effort and a lot of force you must kill the monster to be free from them

Escape - the camp is a lost cause, you must flee without dying

Time - help is bound to come, so all you need to do is bunker down and try to survive.

Each have there own benefits and caveats, but once you choose a type the game changes slightly. For example with a kill goal the monster might be a bit beefier but still be killable, while in other goals it might be able to be stopped for a time but not really killed. The changes are also based on the difficulty you choose at the start of the game.

What's that about difficulty?

The system is designed to let the players shape their experience up front before the first session. This is mainly achieved by the difficulty that can change what the DM can and can't use. This includes things like monster types, disasters, and even subgoals. The 4 difficulty's are easy, medium, hard, and nightmare

What are the monster types?

The monster types are a vague overview of what a monster is good at and can dramatically change your experience with them. Some monsters can also have sub types to limit them to certain difficulty's. In total there are 10 monster types.

Big - the big monsters that are imposing not just from size, but also strength, speed, and a plethora of other factors

Smart - what's worse than a monster, one that's just as smart as you are, traps, trickery, and other things are this monster's bread and butter

Mental - monsters that can break you both physically and mentally, illusions, nightmares, and more are this monster's tool of the trade

Swarm(Medium+) - monsters that are known to travel in groups from 50-100,000 depending on their size.

Infection(Medium +) - monsters that start off weak and not dangerous, the more they infect the stronger and more dangerous they become

Mystical(Hard+) - monsters that can tap into the magics from their home realm to attack

Demonic(Hard +) - monsters that are demonic in origin, often having power over elements of the world around you

Kaiju(Nightmare +) - what's worse than a big monster? Its one that's even bigger

Curse(Nightmare +) - a monster that is unrelenting and held back, only by the rules of their curse.

Your monster is your experience and shapes your entire campaign, so be aware of what you choose.

How would you describe the vibe of this system?

I have been told it is like a game called death road to Canada, where Resources need to be managed, strategy's need to be set, and death is frequent without preparation. If you try to rush the monster banking on good rolls, your going to be food in the next few minutes, but strategy, and using what you have will keep you alive and hopefully let you survive.

How do the merit badge part work?

You get a set number of merit badges depending on the difficulty

easy-1

medium-2

hard-3

nightmare-4

Badges are in 2 types, perk, and point. Perk badges give you an ability based on the badge as well as an additional 2 points in one stat and 1 in another. These perks are your main way of survival and what give you a fighting chance to survive. Point badges instead of giving a perk give 3 points in two different stats. So your badges really make your character. You can also have perk synergies, as some perks work together to grant an additional perk. So if you are looking for something like that, try taking similar badges to see what fuses.

This seems complicated, how are we doing character sheets?

The sheets are made with a custom roll20 code that I have worked on extensively to make it as polished as possible. It includes everything you will need including a guide to the system itself, a guided character creator helper, and more. It is designed to make everything as easy as possible to understand and work with

I know there are probably more questions that people have about the system but I think those are some of the main ones. Below I have posted the time, dates, and my discord to DM me if your interested and answer the questions below. I want to thank you for getting this far and giving my passion project of a ttrpg a chance.

time - 10-12 PM EST Saturdays

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [5e 2024] [EST] [Grimdark lite] [18+] [Casual Substitute Player]

Are you looking to try online D&D or casually fill in? Our group has an opening for a substitute player who would be available from time to time for our side quest adventures. We run consistently every other week on Friday evenings, EST.

Our side quest is currently running in a homebrew grimdark world with a little humor tossed in. Leveling is EXP-based, but I would balance it if you only played once a month or something similar.

We are starting fresh for our Year 4 season with low-level characters. There is lore in place, so there are some character restrictions, and your first player character with us should be based on options from the 2024 Player’s Handbook or the new Ravenloft book. Themes include dark fairytales, cosmic horror, campy gothic theatrics, retro dungeon crawler pc games. Feel free to message me if interested!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [Other] [Homebrew] [Sunday] [6pm] [EST] [LGBT+ Friendly] [21+] [Theater of the mind] GM Looking for 3-4 players to join a completely original homebrew mecha/scifi/superhero campaign on Sundays 6pm-10 EST

The system is completely original homebrew with some similarities to normal dnd and may take some time to learn, but it is more simplistic than 5e

Lux Ex Machina

The setting is the year 3426 on the former mining Colony planet of Mótsognir-10. 500 years ago a war between earth's Allied Planetary Systems Military and the Separatist Territory Federation resulted in Mótsognir Being cut off from earths main government. With the result of the war unknown the planets inhabitants were left to fend for themselves.

Despite this they managed to build a thriving civilization. However in 3100 a new threat emerged, Humans and animals began to be affected by alien paracausal energy sources turning them into entities known as Infused. Infused animals would rapidly grow in size becoming kaiju and sometimes displaying other supernatural powers. Infused humans could display various abilities ranging from being bonded to paracausal technology to being able to alter the laws of physics with their minds in a localized area.

In 3153 a seemingly endless army of mysterious infused humanoids began attacking all human territories across Mótsognir. After being continuously overwhelmed the planets military resorted to building massive bunkers to save what people they could before they repurposed the ruins of a Dyson array that was destroyed during the civil war into a laser weapon that would burn all flammable material on the planets surface hoping to wipe out the threat

In the year 3260 they began sending out drones from the bunkers to reintroduce plant and animal life to the planets surface

The bunker doors opened in 3360 and the humans discovered a world recovered from the fires but now roamed by kaiju of various species. While underground the leaders of each bunker had separated themselves from the influence of the original planetary government forming into 5 factions.

Now each faction seeks to secure control in a cold war while also searching for any advantage they can use against their rivals and the unpredictable infused with the threat of a another apocalypse behind evey new discovery

Inspirations: Horizon Zero Dawn, Titanfall 2, Cyberpunk, Destiny, Infamous, Marvel comics, Gundam IBO

Trigger Warmings: body horror, Blood/Gore, Death, sci-fi horror, Guns, Unethical Human Experimentation

The human technology in the setting is fairly realistic and fits into the hard sci-fi genre, while the infused tech and powers fit more into the soft sci-fi genre. Concepts of real words science still apply to the infused but they tend to ignore or alter laws of physics

the party will start as street level characters and will have to make do with what resources they can realistically get access too and use their powers creatively.

Players should keep in mind NPCs will react realistically to their behavior. Being overly antagonistic will result in a bad reputation and being a murder hobo will cause factions to see you as a threat to be eliminated

There are currently 6 classes which include:

Aberrant
-having 4 reality warping superpowers and being very versatile
-functions as a caster/support/debuff

Hybrid
-being able to mutate into a smaller Kaiju and with 1 or 2 animal abilities depending on the creature you mutate into
-functions as a tank with high health

Krieger
-wearing near indestructible power armor with different modes for different effects
-functions as a generalist/tank or support/tank with high armor

Cyborg
-having cybernetic limbs that grant high damage, speed, or accuracy
-functions as either dps, speed, or accuracy build

Jäger
-wearing a light exo suit with grappling lines for mobility and controlling a miniture kaiju to fight alongside you and
-functions as a mix of support/dps/tank

Weapon master
-wielding a near unbreakable weapon with high damage and 1 reality warping power as well as one physical stat being boosted
-functions as either Tank, DPS, Mobility, or
Sniper all with increased Accuracy

New classes/abilities can also be created with player input as long as they fit the setting and can be properly balanced

The game is balanced about 50-70% narrative and 50-30% combat

The basic out of game rules are don't be racist, sexist, homophobic, etc.... and be respectful to other players

Leave a comment or dm if interested

Group Needed by Player [5e 2014] [5e 2025] [Online] Looking for a group which would accept a new player. Played a little bit, read through a bit of the rules.

Hi there! I'm a newbie when it comes to TTRPGs, but I've been wanting to get into them for a long time. I started on reading through the books and even tried to run a premade DnD Beyond campaign with my friends and I ended up being the DM. I'm trying to sit on the other side of the screen and experience playing as I've wished for for so long. Open to any other suggestions. Thanks!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][Voiced][Dnd 5e 2024][Dark Matter][Saturdays 10pm EST] Dreaming of the treasures buried in the stars.

The universe is nearly infinite, countless planets, boundless stretches of void filled with an innumerable number of sights and new things to explore. From ancient space pirate treasures, rogue AI amassing on distant worlds, interstellar wars, roving bandits, star faring beasts, and god knows what else roaming through the vastness of space. With Towering Empires, Planetary Kingdoms, and Trade Unions splitting the known galaxies into their own property.

This is the universe you live in, one of near infinite possibilities, and near infinite opportunities. Where you can be what ever you want to be, an explorer who charts planets unknown, a mercenary who aids planets with their internal conflicts, a scholar researching the ancient magic of dead worlds, a treasure hunter seeking vast wealth from long dead pirate lords, or perhaps a thief trying to build a collection of the most valuable arts across the universe. With the agency to explore any, and all opportunities layed before you.

Some of the things you'll have to look forward to in a campaign like this.

Roleplay- A vast collection of lore, and resources from Dark Matter, Spelljammers, and Additional Content added in from other smaller sources. All striving to give you access to playing your Sci-Fantasy dream.

Intense Space Battles- Battle in both Vessel V Vessel battles, and boarding missions to steal cargo, info, and whatever else may catch your eyes.

Indepth Social Encounters- Steer through strange encounters of varying levels of the social ladder, from tribal chiefs, to powerful icons within the trade unions, or nobles with immeasurable pull within the Empire.

unique Blends- Mix Magic and Technology, Science and the Occult, from mana fueled warp drives, to lightning firing cannons that'll strip apart ships, or strange portals that bridge impossible gaps, to the HoloWeb that connects one information source to another.

One of A Kind Boss Fights- Fight powerful monster with unique abilities, battle enemy ships with special properties, Warlord with more minions to throw at you then stars in the sky.

On to where you'll be starting, to give you a vague sense of how you'll be embarking on the journey across the stars. This brings us to now, aboard the Imperial Prison Work Vessel 137-56JZ. A place where, for one reason or another, you found yourself working to pay off your debt to The Empire, for whatever crime, or mistake you made. Being used to scuttle and harvest broken and abandoned ships in The Hulking Ring (think Saturns rings, made of old space ships that drift into a giant planets orbit.), working on a small crew with the express goal of salvaging metal and components. Though sometimes, sometimes there's something far, far more valuable then old junk and broken data pads, something that could set you on a whole new course.

In case you can't tell, this is a very sci-fi sort of Star Wars meets Treasure Planet game, exploring dangerous planets, avoiding the law, hunting great and powerful treasures. During this game we'll be using the Dark Matter 5.5E book to reach a certain level of tech, have no fear I own it! So you'll be able to read it to your hearts content. Our game will be run in Roll 20, using their sheets and maps, while using Discord for our calls. I am happy to answer any questions during the interview steps!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Other] [Online] Dark Gritty horror conspiracy superhero game

So I'm running a horror game including cosmic horror, body and psychological horror, modern day conspiracy... but with super powers.

I'm using Wild Talents, a game from the same people that made Delta Green, though the system is quite different. Happy to teach!

We are leaning into low level powers, in a world where no one has been known to have powers before: think of the TV shows Heroes and 4400. But with horror. Call of C'thulhu, X-files blended in.

We are playing on Discord for voice and using Foundry, though the Foundry rules set for this has some major flaws, but we can put character sheets and make die rolls with it.

We have three players, though not gonna lie, I'm not sure one of them is reliable yet. I think the other two are. But could use about two more players, maybe three.

Will be playing Tuesdays, 7 pm CST, til about 10 pm.

THEME:

Up until the point we start playing no person has ever experienced powers. Imagine literally no powers existed.

The premise is a new pain reliever called Relivia came out with no apparent, side effects, and pain relieving properties.

Turns out there was a side effect, but it was such a tiny percentage of the population that it wasn’t noticed in FDA trials.

For a tiny tiny minority of Patients it became horribly addictive, and caused psychotic breaks.

After a massive lawsuit, the makers of this pain reliever were forced to open up a rehab center to cure everyone of this addiction.

And this is where the game starts.

I’m having everyone a background of their character who they were before, what caused them to start using this pain reliever, and a psychotic break that caused them to be admitted to this rehab center.

I am making the powers in secret based on the feedback from the players backgrounds. And you’ll discover these powers in play.

Anyone interested?

Group Needed by Player [Online][AEST][GMT+10][Flexible] Australian player looking to try a system other than D&D

Hey all! I'm looking for a weekly group gathering on either Monday or Tuesday nights (6pm+), I've played a bunch of D&D 5e but I'm looking to try something new! so far I'm interested in:

  • Pathfinder 2e (this is the main one that interests me, i love the amount of customization and build different you can get with pathfinder!)
  • Monster of the Week
  • Lancer
  • WOD
  • or other systems that sound interesting!

I have experience in PF2e and MotW, but Lancer and the WOD systems will be new to me (but I'm willing to learn!)

about me:

  • I've been playing TTRPG's since 13 years old, I've developed a thorough love for them.
  • I'm a fast learner, i will ask a bunch of questions though in attempt to learn about the lore and mechanics of the game.
  • I am 18 and would prefer other adult players, or at least players around the same age as me.
  • I am autistic and prefer if you are direct with me as i tend to miss social queues and that can lead to complications down the road.
  • I am very adamant about attending sessions whenever I can, and if i am unable to attend i will let the group know as soon as i know.

That's all, if you're interested or have further questions hit me up in reddit dms or on discord at: "angrycompliments" (just comment or dm me your reddit username so i know it's not spam, if you don't comment or dm me with your username i will be unlikely to accept the message) cheers!

Group Needed by Player [Online][2014, 2024 or Other][UTC+2][LGBT+] Player Looking for a weekly Mon, Tue, or Wed Group

I’m a 23-year-old (He/Him) intern spending the school year in a new town where I literally know nobody. Honestly, there is no better time for me to finally take my RPG obsession online.

I have two 6-month offline campaigns under my belt, plus some BG3 and D&D podcasts, so I know my way around a character sheet, but I am totally new to online play and virtual tabletops. Playstyle-wise, I am a big fan of deep roleplay mixed with a bit of combat. I am highly adaptable. I can bring a character with a complex backstory, or write down a concept and let the world shape me.

I am strictly looking for an LGBTQ+ friendly table. It is a giant plus if you are a group that sees yourselves playing together long-term.

Because of my work schedule, my Thursday evenings are completely blocked. My weekends are mostly blank, but they can be a bit unpredictable, so weekdays are definitely the safest bet. My exact availability in UTC+2 is:
Mondays anytime after 11:30.
Tuesdays anytime after 14:00.
Wednesdays anytime after 17:00. (once a month its 17:30)
My schedule changes

If you have any questions, feel free to ask

GM Needed by Existing Group Group of 5 new and experienced players looking for DM [ONLINE] [5e 2024] [5e 2014] [CST] [TUE] [THUR]

Hi, 27F in the USA, OK. My D&D group and I are looking for a DM to run a side campaign for us. Our current DM (my boyfriend) no longer has the setup at the moment to host, but we all still want to play, so we need another DM who is welcome to be a player in his campaign when it's back up and running. We are using D&D Beyond for both character sheets and VTT. I have a server we use for VC. If you are interested in being our DM, DM me.
We are into lore and chaotic dice, fueling legendary D&D campaigns in a safe, proudly queer-friendly 21-plus space. Neurodivergent-aware, low-pressure vibes mix with adult humor, respectful boundaries, hype energy, memes, and found-family friendships built for nerds who love storytelling.
I'm looking forward to making some new friends and starting a grand adventure!! The Discord server/campaign is 21+.
We are a group of 5 looking for a steampunk-infused story. A few of us have joint backstories and multiclasses. We're starting at level 1. We're planning on Tuesday or Thursday sessions in the evening CST.
With that said, if you are interested in joining or have any questions, DM me. We'd love to have you!
