Matching opponents

2288 games into my Lichess journey, and my record is 1144-1144. Seems like the matching algorithm is accurate!

All they have to do is match you with users who are, on average, your rating. The math of the rating system takes care of the rest, and that was made by actual mathematicians, so you know it's good.

I tell my kids that, over a long time period, you either win and lose about half of your matches or you become world champ.
