Meta: why are there so many posts from app developers?

It seems like a majority of new posts are from people who have developed an app and are looking for new users, or are trying to survey potential users about features they want.

A lot of these same posts have AI content and bullet points for everything. Is this just because there is a high percentage of lichess users who are also interested in computer science? Is it because content more directly related to lichess usually goes on the r/chess sub, or the lichess forums?

How do you actually study and remember your opening repertoire?

I'm curious how people here actually handle opening preparation and memorization.

For those who have their own opening repertoire:

  • How do you review your openings?
  • Is there something in particular you find annoying about your current method?

I'm doing some research into this and would be really interested to hear what people think. Thanks everyone :)

Edit: Thanks for the help everyone! If anyone would be interested in helping out with my reserach I´d really appreciate if you answered this google form which takes like 1-3 minutes. Cheers!

Looking for a 2000 rated chess blitz player for a short training session. Got a tournament coming up and feel like I still have a few blindspots

We play one blitz game and then briefly go through the game/mistakes afterward. Around 20–30 minutes total.

Paying $30. DM me your chess profile if interested.
Doesn't have to be lichess necessarily

Live broadcasts on the iPad

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

The Lichess app really needs to be better optimized for large screens like the iPad Pro. Especially following live broadcasts in the app is horrible compared to the browser. Here are two screenshots of the same situation on the same device (an iPad Pro 13"). The first is lichess.org in Safari and the second is the app. There is so much more information on the screen in the browser. In the app there is a huge board, but you don't see the other games of the tournament. And of course lots of functionalities are missing in the app: No markings of errors in the moves list, no display of the captured pieces, and lots of other things.

I made a website that gives you free chess.com like game review!

Hi!

I am so tired (and I am sure most of you will relate to this) of Chess.com game review

I have basically rebuilt it from the ground up, and it also includes puzzles, an ai coach, and a full on anticheat that allows you to review your opponents games and decide if they were cheating or not.

You can try it out at chess.sidastuff.com and please keep in mind that it is still in Beta.

I would love if you would give me any suggestions or bug reports in the comments down below. I am working on a very large ui update, so most ui bugs etc have already been reported and will be fixed soon.

Enjoy!

I made a chess website that shows every move you can play!

Post image

Hey everyone!

I made a chess website called ChessFish that shows the different moves you can play directly on the board.

The original idea came from being annoyed that chess engines usually only show you one move. I wanted to see the whole position and compare the different options instead of just being told what the engine thinks is best.

By default it uses something called Combo, which gives each move a score from 0–100. It combines Stockfish with Maia-3 to show moves that are both reasonably sound and realistic for a human to consider.

The score is not a win percentage or a normal engine evaluation. It is just meant to help you see which moves you should look at first. You can switch to Stockfish if you want the regular engine evaluation, or Human Likelihood if you want to see what players at different levels are likely to play.

You can also import your games with PGN, study openings, explore both sides of the board, and look at book and popular moves.

There is no sign up required and you can try it for free here:

https://chessfish.io/

I would love to hear what you think. I am especially curious if the board helps you understand the different ideas in a position or if it feels like too much information at once :D

Hey everyone!
I’m a FIDE-rated chess player currently rated around 2400 on Chess.com, with a peak of 2670.
I’m offering personalized, affordable chess lessons for players who want to improve, whether you’re trying to break through a rating plateau, improve your openings, understand your games better, or simply become a stronger all-around player.
Lessons are tailored specifically to you. We can go through your games, work on tactics and calculation, analyze openings, develop a better thought process, or focus on whatever you feel is holding you back.
I’m keeping the price affordable, especially compared with what you’d normally pay for a coach at this level.
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me with your rating and what you’d like to improve, and I can give you more details about pricing and how the lessons work.

What’s the most heartbreaking blunder you’ve ever made in a completely winning position?

15 seconds on the clock. +7 evaluation. Mate in 3 on the board... and my brain decides to stalemate the opponent's king with a sloppy queen move. I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight. Share your worst tactical blindness moments so I don't feel so alone in my misery.

I've started a forum thread proposing a solution to this problem. Tell me how stalling in a Swiss tournament by someone else would make you feel if you want.
