Love triangles despite being such a big deal in Macross tends to be less well implemented compared to Mechs and idols but Frontiers love triangle was perfect. Both Sheryl and Ranka are great and I love their relationship with Alto. Also felt like the love was balanced with their being a good back and forth between the two of them.

I think the best showcase of this is in the hospital scene where Sheryl and Ranka sings What Bout My Star duet for Alto. We see Sheryl sing the more provocative lyrics while Ranka sings the sweeter parts. We have Ranka's dance be cute while Sheryl's is seductive. All the while the romantic scenes between Alto and the two girls were put in really well timed flashbacks. I still vividly see the scene where Alto has both Ranka and Sheryl in each of his eyes.

Frontier is my fav Macross series and the love triangle being an all time great is a big reason why.

Protoculture tech so far is like, very technological and soul-related.

I'm glad there isn't a love triangle with Mao, and that it's only one-sided love(i think?). She's a bit too young for Shin.

So what the hell happened to Sara? Did she, like, fold? Where did she go? Is there any continuation? People just disappear in this series.

What happened to Shin too? Is he dead? Was that just an artistic choice to show that he died, or did he actually survive and just go missing or something?

So basically, humans are one of the species that originated from Earth, and the Protoculture sent the Bird Human to genetically evolve humans and establish a protocol that if humanity became a dangerous and warlike species, they would need to be destroyed.

Oh yeah, that does imply that every Protoculture species has their own Bird Human. I'd assume they're different because of the different creatures used as templates by the Bird Human. Maybe the Delta cat people use cats or something instead of humans using fish(?). Maybe humans are closer to the Ragna people. Oh yeah, that would make the Windermereans kind of like Sara, but I guess that would apply to every member of their species.

Oh yeah, so VFs were actually an invention of Anti-Unification.

I’m pretty surprised they explore some pretty heavy subjects, such as abuse of authority by the UN and cases of sexual abuse committed by UN soldiers. It also gives the Anti-Unification movement some understandable reasons for not wanting to comply with the UN. But I really appreciate how they explore this side of war.

I know that during the Zentradi invasion, they used a Zentradi translator device, but what about the other cases? Like, all the different species on Delta, or even between humans, like here in Zero with the Mayan inhabitants. The Mayan island itself seems pretty secluded. Or maybe it’s a tourist island, like Bali? The old man seems like he’s trying to sell some merchandise.

Since we had something of a false alarm yesterday, the pre-order date is set for September 1, 2026 with a March 2027 release.

I might have to cancel my VF-1J pre-order for this one. I already own the early 2000s rerelease VF-1J, so this would be a better addition to the collection.

This Franchise has Literally been there Waiting to Shepherd me into Anime Fandom since my Birth Year of 1982 (Born in Jan. SDF MACROSS Debuted Oct.)

MACROSS Briefly Shook Hands with Me sometime Between 1988/1990 when a Family Member Gave me a Built-Up CEJI/REVELL ROBOTECH CHANGERS "VEXAR" (VF-1S FOCKER IMAI 1/72 VARIABLE TYPE Model Kit) and, Being Between 7 and 9 Years old, that was like "Cool Robot and F-14 Fighter Jet" for all of Five Minutes of my Childhood.

Then the Mid-90's Came Along. About 14 Years old in Late-1995 when Dad Bought me a VF-1J Ichijo GERWALK ARII 1/100 Kit. This Time it Truly Sunk In. that Model Reminded me of the Transforming One from Several years Earlier... and that This Stuff was Flat Out Cool and i Wanted MORE of it.

1996 was the Big Break Out; Discovering SDFM via ROBOTECH at my Mall's "SUNCOAST MOTION PICTURE COMPANY" Store... And, from There; Anime in General.

I've Grown and Maintained as Hardcore OTAKU/Weeb/Etc. in the 30 Years Since... And MACROSS Still Maintains it's Pride of Place with Me as First and Last;

Ever since I learned of Max Jenius, I always found him and Wedge Antilles from Star Wars quite similar to each other lol. They even have similar life stories (at least for Wedge in Legends/Old Canon):

• Both started out as a wingman to the main protagonist and their veteran flight leader (Max to Hikaru and Roy Focker / Wedge to Luke and Garven Dreis, the original Red Squadron Leader)
• Both survived multiple large-scale conflicts, scoring up a lot of kills and become legendary in the process.
• Both eventually became commanders of a large warship (Max commands Battle 7; Wedge in Legends is given command of the captured Super Star Destroyer Lusankya) but also never lose their piloting skills even as they advance in age.
• Both eventually joined union with former enemies and leaving behind a big family legacy (Max ends up marrying the Zentradi Milia, his former enemy-turned-lover before raising a big family with her; Wedge's sister in Legends married former Imperial Top Ace Soontir Fel, expanding the Antilles-Fel family)

Kinda wish to somehow see a fanart between those two lol. Max Jenius and Wedge Antilles are both among my most favorite fictional pilots ever, and in no small part thanks to their similarities with each other.

Released in 1994, Skull Leader was the second of three Macross games for the PC-98 computer system, following Remember Me (1993) and before Love Stories later that year. In 1995 the latter two were combined, with added missions and improved mechanics, into Skull Leader Complete Pack.

The manual for Complete Pack featured a lot of art, including oddball, and in some cases quite radical interpretations of known mecha from the franchise. In 2023 I manually upscaled some of them by tracing the line work onto 5k x 5k pixel canvas, and then colored them appropriately.

Shown above are the art that were attached to the "SPP1-S Strike Option," which is clearly a -1J, the thicc "Battle Pod Queadluun Rau," and "GBP-1 Armored Option" (now with more chonk).

This game was translated by Nebulous Translations and released in 2017.

• Which one is canon as the series continues: SDF or DYRL?
• Where did the Macross come from exactly? Is it an ancient ship drifting through space? Was it used by Miclone Zentradi, some completely different alien species, or was it built by the Protoculture? As far as I know, the Valkyries are of alien origin, and used by small pilots so they must have been used by a Miclone species, right?
• Okay, I really love Max and Milia's love story lmao.
• Holy shit, the Earth Cannon isn't a joke. I thought it was gonna take out, like, 100 ships at most. It's basically an entire Death Star. How the hell do they even power that thing?
• Hayase and Hikaru lived together for two whole years and they still weren't together? I thought Hikaru had already accepted that he wasn't going to end up with Minmay.
• Man, they're really prolonging this love triangle. Just go with Hayase already
• Dawg, they're throwing the baby 💀 I thought Zentradi and humans were physically the same after being Micloned, even if they have strong bones. so why are they throwing the baby lmao
