Off campus accommodation

Hey all! For those renting digs off campus. Do you pay rent 12 months? Or September-May? Like 9 months? I’m a bit confused

Most digs are September to May. I know my past digs was even just Sunday evening to Friday morning each week so make sure to double check if weekends are included or not
