When I played it for the first time in 2014 on the PSP, I absolutely loved PW for the Mother Base's stuff, managing the soldiers, the story and the overrall game mechanics. But replaying it now just doesn't feel that good anymore, especially for the gameplay that feel like a more simpler TPP, for example considering the MB's stuff or the AI of the enemies, too bland.

My PS3 gave up on me four years ago so I haven't played it since, and I tried emulating MGS4 not too long ago, but for some reason, it just didn’t feel right. So I’ve gotta give Konami their props for this port, and also giving the game a proper mouse support puts MGS4’s gameplay in a whole new light.

Also who noticed he used a ps3 controller to control mg mk2?

I’ve never played the games but want to get some for my birthday, I play on ps5. I don’t know where to start or what is worth playing so I just wanted an opinion. What games should I get? MGS3 or delta?

Mgs4 for me is a 10.10

This is for those who have already played. I’m getting very confused on the story of Metal Gear Solid with the constant jumping from year to year. Why is it that MGS3 takes place before MG and why does MGS5 take place before MGS4? Is it fine to be able to play the games in chronological order even though the play styles are widely different between all the games?

Welp I finally get to say, I love MGS4

3 days ago I decided to stop being a frugal lord, and shell out my dough for MGS4 for the Nintendo switch 1.

I played 30 hours, in 3 days. This is the most time I’ve ever dedicated to a game in this short of timeframe.

I’ve done 2 playthroughs. My first playthrough I soaked everything in, no walkthroughs, and I watched all CUTSCENES and listened to all CODEC CALLS. And this is js peak entertainment. The story is amazing, not the best and has its flaws, but it made me feel so much emotions and even shed a few tears too (That one scene in Act 4 after a major boss battle had me actually sobbing)! Absolute brilliant first impression. It costed me 16 hours.

2nd playthrough, No Kills/Healing items. Went pretty smoothly and shorten the duration to around 5-7 hours since I skipped all cutscenes and calls

I attempted to do a big boss extreme run and I immediately regret it, couldn’t make it pass 1st act and I deleted that beautiful save out of shame.

3rd playthrough rn at Act 4 nearing the end of it. About to head to the boss encounter. I’m doing a major agro and just unleashing all sorts of chaos. It’s rlly fun! (legit spent 30-40 mins on the raging raven fight, I barely made it out alive. I spammed syringes and praying to heal, with no healing consumables left, couple k drebins. I was sweating like crazy. Normally I’d finish dude first try using the mosin)

But I realized I need a break. 30 hours in 3 days is TOOOOOO MUCH PLAYING TIME.

Btw switch 1 port is PHENOMENAL, out of my 30 hours I noticed one tiny slowdown in a very hectic scenario, besides that IT RAN BUTTERLY SMOOTH 30FPS. Plus the battery life is shockingly amazing for such an infamously demanding game.

If you are a Switch 1 user like me, ur in luck, this port is actually GREAT. Shame it couldn’t be on ps4 or Xbox one.

Adding spoiler in case first timers haven’t gotten to this part. Many of us are playing MGS4 for the first time in almost 20 years this weekend, while others experiencing it for the first time. Forgot how much of this game just….kicked ass. Had to take a clip and put this one to music yesterday. Couldn’t help myself.
