Gaming / Streaming Mics Connector help

So I recently got a pair of hand me down headphones from my brother and they have separate headphone and mic connector but my laptop just had 1 3.5mm port

Does anyone know which connector to use cause I feel like most might mess up the connection or give static

Try both and see which one works. It will not hurt anything.

Uhh... I think I i fumbled somewhere which didn't make my point clear

My laptop just had a singular 3.5mm jack and the headphones has seprate microphone and headphone jack so I can't use the mic as u can't connect it without unplugging my audio jack so I need connector recommendations
