I just wanted a hot dog Mom bought 150 lemons.

She randomly comes back with a butt load of food items once in a while

Any lemon recipe suggestions

\she’s 44, for people asking her age\.

Why is she refrigerating them?

With that amount of lemons, it's probably better too. They will last longer in the fridge, even if they can be kept out at room temperature. At least it'll prevent them from drying out rock solid.

Source: Work in a restaurant, and have also had my mom bring home 100 lemons for no reason.

Fun fact..best way to keep lemons fresh is submerged in water. I’ve made lemons last a month that way.

They’re gonna need the whole bathtub for this.

They last a month on the fridge anyway. Longer if properly sealed. And far longer in the freezer.

Putting them in water is unnecessary at best, and potentially damaging the fruit (they will absorb water and/or lose nutrients)

Submerged in water is the way. Prevents them from drying out for longer than if just refrigerated.

Instructions unclear. Lemons rotted on the counter. I am wrinkly.

Do you buy them from the refridgerator at the grocery store?

The grocery store goes through produce so fast that they can keep most of it out of the fridge, but once you go home most of it should go into the fridge unless you plan to use it in the next day or so. Lemons stay good on the counter for about 1 week, and in the fridge for about 2 months with no loss of quality.

do you keep lettuce/cabbage/celery/peppers/zucchini/cucumbers/melons out of the fridge too? Since my grocery store has those all out of the fridge. May be fine if you're planning to use it in the next day or so... maybe not if you live somewhere hot, though.

Yes to all

Well unless you're grocery shopping every other day, start refrigerating and get excited about the fresher taste and higher nutrition in your future! :) I've never heard of ANYONE keeping those things out of the fridge in the US... lemons and melons if you're planning to use in the next day or so sure

There's produce that doesn't do well when refrigerated. Strawberries and tomatoes are good examples.

I didn't mention those in my list.

As with most things, it's the US who is backwards here and not everyone else..

Like, what's the harm? It's win win win win win win. Unlike some things you mention, refrigeration standards in the US are pretty good and logical.

Yes lemons, famously a vegetable. NA education on display again

Ahh so you're trolling, got it. Or you can't read "vitamin C" in my screenshot? You were originally replying to a comment that was mostly about vegetables, though. Context of a conversation changes over time!

What would be unique about vegetables that their vitamins degrade on the counter but not fruits? They're all made of the same stuff.
