My mom said I could post Guess who’s sleeping on the couch all week!?
I was looking for the charger to my kindle… and I ended up finding out that the slats underneath my bed had rotted, and there was ACTUAL MOSS, growing under the mattress. So all of it had to be thrown out and I’m sleeping on the sofa till friday. Worst part? Didn’t even find the stupid kindle charger
edit:it was mold and not moss, I am an idiot(and also Im a Deltarune fan so I often have moss in my head)
edit 2:I think it happened because of how close my bathroom is to the bedroom, and I really like long hot showers.

Happened to me then I first moved to London. Rented a basement room in an old Victorian house in a shared house.
The room was just constantly damp in the winter... Like come back home and my sheets felt wet damp.
Ended up wth mould bottom side of my mattress as well.
Had the throw it all out and brought a electric dehumidifier that pretty much ran most the time I was out..

Bathroom fans are for blowing all that hot, moist air out when you've had a shower. People need to make sure the fan stays on for at least a few minutes after the shower is over.

A lot of people don't have bathroom fans, though. I've rented quite a few places now (10+), and this is the first place I've ever lived that has a bathroom fan. Hilariously, I can't even control the fan here either. It just turns on when the landlord feels like it.

I am deadly allergic to moister mold (black). I lived in old farm houses next to rivers as a kid, the mold hurt me. My poor tiny lungs..

That still doesn't seem normal no matter how long it hot your showers are. Like part of building science is designing shit so it can breathe and meet the requirements of the climate.
I'd personally be worried there is a leak somewhere and it's wicking into the subfloor/carpet pad etc.

In that case, youd benefit from a dehumidifier in your bedroom. Because this will happen again, unless you find the root cause which could be the showering. In which case the dehumidifier will work.
But when you get a mattress you can just slap that on the floor anywhere.

Really doubt a nearby shower (presumably in a separate room) is causing a moldy bed, you would have mold in other places as well.
I've seen people who sweat a lot in their sleep and/or have poor hygiene produce mold in their bed and/or bedding, and is a much likelier cause. Of course a very humid environment is also a possibility.

It happened because there is little to no airflow or light under your bed. Its not your showers, its the humidity in your environment in general combined with a space where there is very little light or airflow that causes this.
Get a dehumidifier for the room and raise the bed off the floor a bit more to introduce airflow to the area. If you just replace the mattress and don't address the real reasons for the mold, you'll be doing this again soon and forever.

Had this exact think happen to me in a half basement bedroom. I lost an entire bedroom set to a couple of humid weeks. What everyone else is saying is correct re: humidity and venting.
It's worth pointing out that this can also be a function of the material your bed frame is made out of. The cheap fiber board that used for this stuff may be manufactured with the mold spores present. Depending on manufacturing country, overseas factories may have lax or non-existent quality controls for this issue. Ex. I don't know how one would effectively control natural mold spore presence in a tropical country like Vietnam.
For your next set of furniture you may wish to look at the best quality you can afford. If you can't afford a bedset made of 200 year old redwood whole plank hardwood finished with polyurethane brewed in the one true grail, you may wish to look for metal furniture finished with cloth accents. That MDF stuff is notorious for being susceptible to mold growth; it's essentially just a giant, unsealed sponge.

Exterior walls are colder and moisture condenses there. Pull your bed like 6 inches away from the wall with a window and make sure air can flow.
Take mold seriously and get medical attention if you have prolonged sinus issues or coughing and such.

Your walls probably have mold in them too. Doesn't your bathroom have an exhaust fan or a window that you can open for the steam to escape?
Does it have an HVAC vent you can run the AC when you shower (with the doors open) and it will help some if you don't have proper ventilation for the bathroom.

And you need to keep the door between the bathroom and the bedroom closed, at least after hot steamy showers until the humidity completely dissipates.

Unironically, get an oscillating tower fan for when you're not in the bed.
While yes, the increased humidity from you taking long hot showers may have been a cause for the mold, the primary cause is that there isn't enough air flow to properly dry your mattress and slats from whatever moisture they do absorb, and don't get me wrong they do absorb moisture, mostly sweat because you sweat a lot when you sleep.
This is also why you cannot have a mattress on the floor because if you have a mattress on the floor it will get moldy.
An oscillating tower fan on a low setting will provide enough airflow to properly dry your mattress.

Consider using a vent while you take a shower. Adding a fan to move the humid air around to avoid condensation on your stuff. Or even adding a dehumidifier to prevent it from happening again.

Oh shit you found a loonie! Yeah I'd close the bathroom door and use the fan when you shower.
Are those bolted down? You can measure them or bring one to a home depot or whatever is nearby and buy 4 1x4s and 6 screws per 1x4. Problem solved. (assuming the rest isn't rotting somehow).

My sis did this and it produced mold on her mattress from moisture lock in.

Put some spacers behind your headboard to allow some airflow, and check the corners of your room for moisture content. It's possible moisture is coming in and getting trapped under your bedframe.
