I'm slightly vexed Please pay attention

My neighbor was outside talking on her phone while watching her 2 year old grandson. He was running around in front of her. I got into my car, turned on my favorite podcast and put the car in reverse. I looked up and realized that I didn’t see him anymore. I checked my rearview camera, and he was standing behind my car. Fortunately, my foot was still on the brake.

I’m so grateful that I have that camera. He’s so little that he was completely hidden from my rearview mirror. His grandmother didn’t look in our direction until I got out of the car and called her. I try not to think about what could have happened if I’d been running late and rushing.

The fact you're acting like checking your backup camera is somehow optional is more than mildly infuriating. Are we supposed to congratulate you for not running over the toddler?

How did you read this and get that impression? The post is calling out the person watching the kid.

They implied they would skip the step of checking the camera if they were rushing. Read it again.

I perceived that as rushing sometimes causes accidents. Humans make mistakes. Why are you being rude?

Craving social interaction but mad at the world, usually. Some people get on Reddit to argue. Lonely people.

If they had checked the rearview mirror (also the right thing to do), they would not have seen the kid. I think the point is that the "new" technology makes cars safer.
