Mini Aussie Monday Mini Aussie Monday Feature: Ghost

Post image

Today we're excited to showcase Ghost, submitted by u/Ok-Owl7377

Ghost is a 3-year old and a sweet, photogenic, bratty, goofy, loving pup. Her pawrent says "Everything I heard about the breed, she def has lived up to it and then some. She's been an absolute joy for me and my wife."

Her favorite food is...human food! For both treats and toys, she likes CET enzymatic chews. She will throw them around the house and chase/eat them. 🍔

Her pawrent says "Ghost was born on Easter Sunday, has her tail, and tries to act like my mom. When she is ready for bed, she will sit and stare at me until we go to bed."

Big thanks again to their pet parent for submitting them! With Halloween on the way, we couldn't think of a better time to post a pup with a spooky name. 👻

Today we're excited to showcase Wesley and Ruby, submitted by u/Davidhappening

Rye and Lu, who also answer to Ganoush and melon, are a pair of aussies aged 3 and 5. 🍈

Their pawrent says that Rye (the red tri) is the one who made them want a second because she's so patient, smart, obedient, fun and energetic.

Lu (the blue) was adopted one year ago. She’s their wild child and has been gaining confidence after losing her first family, and then having a few foster families before she found her forever home. She’s smart but has a penchant for trouble!

Their favorite food is salmon, and their favorite toy is the frisbee above all else! 🥏

Big thanks again to their pet parent for submitting them! Rye and Lu are our featured Mini Aussies of the week representing our sub.

Maui my non raptor puppy

Post image

Maui is 5 1/2 months and has been the best puppy we have ever had. He is the sibling of our other Aussie Sadie. When she was a puppy I wondered if I was ever going to be able to pet her without her putting her mouth on my hand. He is just the opposite he will sit next to you on the couch and loves pets/cuddles. Has anyone else had an experience like this with an atypical Aussie puppy?

Seeking Advice My first mini Aussie! How do I teach her name to her?

Post image

Mom is standard dad is mini, so we’ll see where genetics take us, she’s roughly 2/3 months right now, I would love some advice on teaching her to respond to her name, I’m trying to say it and give her treats but it’s just not clicking. Her brother in the back of this photo had no problem learning his name so this is new to me! (Jaeger and Kaiju are their names!)

She is 10 weeks old and has been home with us for a few days now, she is a very good girl (except when she gets a bit feral if she's over-tired)

Trying to come up with something not super common or basic. I like Banjo but my family doesn’t. They like Finn but I don’t. We’re stuck. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

Seeking Advice Resource Guarding?

Post image
40 Upvotes

normally, Murphy is the sweetest, most docile creature ever - but last night I gave him his bedtime kong and we went upstairs and he jumped on the bed and after I got into the bed he started growling, got stiff, showed his teeth and after his Kong was done he got up and continued his resource guarding and after I tried calming him down and sweet talking him - he bit my thumb / hand.

I don’t yell, i didn’t get upset, I just got up and said we’re going for a walk outside which reset everything.

So do other Aussies do this?

Discussion Anybody else's Auss fearful of big trucks?

Post image
51 Upvotes

My guy is 6 mo., and recently has started going bananas (not in a good way) when he hears or sees big trucks - like garbage trucks, UPS trucks, fire trucks, Amazon vans, etc. I have NO idea why or how all of a sudden. If he's in the car going for a ride, he doesn't care about other cars or trucks around us, but its when he's out on leash. Anyone else have a mini aussie with this fear/reaction?

Behold my Aussie What trick did you teach your Aussie, but you say a seemingly random word that only your Aussie knows?

For me, I have Lucario respond to "come here" as "Lucario, return." And also the video kind of shows one of the few tricks I taught him.

I also have Lucario know the sit command as either sit or "Aura Sphere." I made sure Lucario knew sit and Aura Sphere were the same; the family were annoyed he responded to "Aura Sphere" as his sit. I'm trying to get him to lay down, by using the word Reversal (like the Pokemon move, but "reversal" being him going from a standing a lying down position); the word "down" is being used as a "don't jump on people" kind of deal.

Seeking Advice Stop the nipping

Landy is almost four months old and oh boy, he is out of control sometimes. It seems to be with me mostly, but he is constantly biting and nipping at me and tearing skin and scratching. I'm a human chew toy and I can't get him to stop. I've tried everything the online trainers have suggested. He is much better with my husband but not with me. He's going to puppy class and he's such a good boy there but as soon as he leaves, he's crazy again. Has anyone done something that actually works? Or at least reassure me that this gets better, I don't want to be covered in scabs for the rest of his life 😂

Discussion Mini mini Aussie?

My mini Aussie, Ruby, is a whopping 15 pounds. She belonged to my now deceased great grandmother. I adopted her when she was 8 and now she’s 9. She was overweight and has last 2 pounds in the last year. I don’t know much about her puppy days since I didn’t have her then. Is 15 pounds normal? Is there a such thing as a mini MINI Aussie?? Everyone that sees her thinks she’s an Australian shepherd puppy.

Behold my Aussie Orla the Medium Aussie

This is our wonderful girl Orla. She came to us a year and a half ago as a rescue. Didn't understand any words, frightened of most situations and people... Once she figured out she was safe she set to work becoming an amazing dog. Such a delight, and so glad we took a chance on her.

We wanted to find out more about her background, so did DNA testing. Turns out she's roughly 55% full size Aussie and 45% mini. So a "midi Aussie" I guess. She weighs 31lbs. As a friend said "She's perfect! Big enough to be a real dog and little enough to fit into whatever you're doing."
