Show & Tell Been working on stuff

Another update since my last post: https://www.reddit.com/r/minidisc/comments/1w0kfbx/made_some_very_good_progress_on_my_pocket_case/

I ditched the pocketable case concept and I'm just focusing on making a good, aesthetically pleasing, disc storage solution. Here is my latest 5-disc case.

I'm gradually refining everything. Right now I'm still trying to make the magnets feel more secure and satisfying. Also, this design is easily scalable for 10 disc solutions as well.

Let me know what you guys think!

Sexy, what about a 20pc model? Stackable?

good box BUT using magnets in a box containing MAGNETO-optical discs may not be the best idea ;-)

Fair point about the recordable ones, but it's less of a risk than it sounds. Pre-recorded MDs don't have a magnetic layer, so they're unaffected either way. Recordable MDs need a laser and a magnet working together to actually erase. A magnet alone won't do anything. These are just tiny 3x1mm, so the discs should be totally fine.

Could you put 4 little feet under neath. And 4 little recesses on the top corners. That way you could stack them. I'd buy them. Have you thought of making them so you could insert discs with their jewel cases or slip cases on them into this little case? 5 or 8 capacity would be perfect for when I'm traveling or in hospitol (a Faraday cage for mobile fone signals). Minidisc just lasts and lasts 5-10 discs is a perfect amount of minidiscs to take for a weekend.

That's awesome 5 disc is perfect to take in the car for a road trip or maybe the 10. I could see me using this to load up for the car.

This seems very much portable too

elastic band around 5 disks would have done the same in 1/3 of space required here

example of a stack of disks with elastic band. the disks don't need more protection since they all have individual lids that shut when the disc is ejected from player.

And taken you 5 times as long to remove a disc and reapply the band

no since disks already have cases so would be the exact same only smaller and easier. makes me wonder if you guys actually use your minidisc player or only like to show off here?

You do that then mate and you can tell yourself you're keeping it real unlike all of us posers

umm magnetic closer? Perhaps rethink that.

Already addressed in another comment

Yes, saw that. If it’s ferric, but structured by laser, I’ll have to stand corrected.

edit: it seems a strong magnet will degauss an MD, but there appears to be a threshold level. https://www.minidisc.org/md_magnet.html
Either way, good job on the storage box. Looks stylish and cool.
