Local News Extremely dangerous driver near school zone (Winston Churchill & Artesian Dr) – Almost hit a child at crosswalk around 4:45 PM today. Is it worth reporting without a clear plate?

Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice on who to contact regarding a dangerous driving incident today around 4:45pm near Winston Churchill Blvd and Artesian Dr in Mississauga (school zone).

A child was about to enter the crosswalk when a driver blew past me in the oncoming lane at a high rate of speed, completely ignoring the stop sign and barely missing the child.

I have dashcam footage of the incident, but unfortunately, the license plate is not clear enough to read definitively, and also my dashcam clock keeps falling back.

I need help regarding

Who exactly should I report an incident like this to in Peel Region?

Is it even worth submitting a report if I don't have a clear license plate number?

What will actually happen or what actions will authorities take if I file a report with unreadable plate footage?

UPDATE: I downloaded my rear dashcam footage, the car licence plate is clearly viable.

Avoid the area if you can, it’s a nightmare of traffic. The other cars front end was completely destroyed as well.

Recommendations Getting acne since moving to Mississauga

Upvotes

I recently moved to Mississauga (and Canada in general) and would rarely get acne but i’ve been getting pimples nonstop since i’ve moved here. Anyone else experienced the same?
I’m wondering if it’s the food or water. It could be products i use on my face but I don’t think so because i’ve used different products and i still get acne.
This is honestly getting quite frustrating. I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed the same.

Recommendations Looking for a reputable coin shop/appraiser for a large inherited collection (750+ coins)

Upvotes

Hi, everybody.

I recently inherited a fairly large coin collection and I’m looking for recommendations for a reputable coin shop, dealer, or appraiser in the GTA that I can take it to for an evaluation.
There are at least 750 coins, possibly more, so this isn’t something I can just bring in and have someone look through in a few minutes. The collection includes a mix of Canadian and international coins, different years and denominations, as well as some silver and gold coins.

I’ve started going through and documenting everything myself, but I’d eventually like to have someone knowledgeable look through the collection, help identify anything that may have numismatic/collector value beyond its metal value, and give me a better idea of what I actually have.

I’m not necessarily looking to sell everything immediately. My main priority is finding someone reputable and trustworthy who is experienced with larger collections and will actually take the time to properly evaluate it rather than just making a quick bulk offer.
Has anyone had a good experience with a coin shop, dealer, or professional appraiser in Mississauga/Toronto or elsewhere in the GTA that they would recommend? I’m willing to travel a bit for the right place.

Also, if you’ve dealt with a collection this large before, I’d appreciate any advice on how the evaluation process normally works and what I should do before bringing it in.

Where can I find townhouses for rent in Mississauga?

I’m looking to rent a townhouse in Mississauga and was wondering where people usually find them.

I’ve checked places like Realtor.ca and Facebook Marketplace, but I’m wondering if there are any other websites, groups, or specific areas in Mississauga where townhouse rentals are easier to find.

Any recommendations or tips would be appreciated!

Recommendations Engagement ring jewler

Upvotes

Looking to get a custom engagement ring made. Very non traditional so am looking for a proper custom jewler to work with. I've got a few stones we'd like to use and some design ideas. I tried to get on jewler in oakville but they couldn't complete the initial cad design after a month.

I've reached out to Alexander Jewlers in streetsville and Diamond Bros in Port credit buy neither have replied.

Transit & Infrastructure Why are there no benches around this city?

I like to walk around the city, and occasionally take a seat, the only places there are to sit are bus stops? What's that all about? I find myself sitting on the edge of the sidewalk or sitting on straight grass every time I want to to take a smoke break. Recently I saw that they put up some big flower vases along Dundas street, I would much rather our taxes have been put into putting some benches around. I've lived in multiple countries and this is the only place I have been to where its as if we're not even supposed to be outside.

Transit & Infrastructure Pedestrian safety Mississauga

So many accidents involving pedestrians in Mississauga. Serious question : how can we get more safety for pedestrians? Where to write? What's the proper channel to log complaints?

I've lived in big cities, different countries, different provinces. Canadian born and I think Mississauga is the worst place I've seen for pedestrians. Walking with kids to school is a danger. Crossing an intersection to get to the supermarket is a danger.

No priority left turn. Red light right turn. Getting out of the driveway. Drivers not paying attention to pedestrians all the time.

I never see cops around schools at the end of the school day.

A city is so much more alive when people walk and bike to places. When they hop on city busses.

Can you imagine being blind or in a wheelchair in this city?

Is it the same all over the GTA?

Advertising in public spaces

Post image
28 Upvotes

I think this was Hwy10/Dundas area. It appears to me that small-scale businesses are starting to think that public property that we pay taxes on constitutes free advertising space for small-scale businesses, and this signal light pole is one of the worst cases I have seen so far. Is anyone from the city managing this problem? The phone numbers are all there (I rubbed them out in blue in this photo), so they can't be hard to find for anyone in law enforcement.

Applewood hills review?

Planning to put an offer on a home in Applewood (South of bloor, east of tomken, west of Dixie). It’s next to queen fredica. Looking for honest opinions from people who actually live there — what’s it like day to day for families? Schools, neighbours, general vibe? Any downsides we should know about before we commit?
