So I fell into some modular synth stuff via guitar pedal trades (picked up the blue lantern DCO and the Four Player after).
I’m trying to wrap my head around the best ways to use what I have. I’m open to any ideas.
Yes, VCVrack rules but it’s not a ton of help when this is right in front of me. I’ve been having fun the last day or so just making sounds. But I’d like to find some ways to best use what I have.
I’m using the Abacus as a make shift clock divider for my volca and running everything out of the VCA into a mixer.
Any tips? Tricks? What should I look into getting next?

Semi-generative patch with Arbhar manually played via Scan/Layer, and an analog FM kick with lots of modulation shaping maths envelopes and 2hp comb-filter resonance.
Ducking via J&OT Rubin.
Chaos and textures — hope you enjoy 🪐
Cheers!

Today is the day! My first full-length album is out today on bandcamp. I recorded this in mostly single takes using primarily an 0-Coast and Strega, along with an SQ-1 and Edge.
I'm hosting a live listen-through and AMA tomorrow 9/2 at 8pm EDT live on Bancamp.
"Cycle Meditation Martyr and the Double Time Effect on Entropy" marks a period of fluidity and amorphous existence for me. While experimenting with a new collection of instruments, I was listening to a great deal of Sufi Qawwali music and kept returning to a definition of rhythm: “a moment in time, repeated.” The phrasing is significant to me because it leaves intentionality ambiguous. A moment in time, repeated—is the repetition incidental or intentional?
These tracks are well suited to soundbathing intense moments of focus and concentration. Rhythms loop and cycle, but I do not find repetition mundane. It can manifest in a grey area between repeat and ritual. A loop lasts until it is ended, carrying with it an inherent anticipation of when that ending might come, and how. Slightly adjacent to the loop is the cycle, which to me suggests not symmetrical repetition, but rounds that can evolve.

After watching endless hours of youtube and reading various reviews and guides online, and countless hours spent noodling on VCV, I've finally built my first drone.
It's pretty basic, and I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing with Zzzorb or Chronoblob. But it sounds pretty cool to my untrained ears, with lots of slow, random modulation from the Triple Sloth.
I tried to use as many modules that I can build from kits as possible, hence all the Befaco.
I think my next step might be to raise the pitch a bit and add a subtly changing baseline.
Any suggestions on alternative modules or directions to take much appreciated.

Playing around with some overlaid sequences between plaits, klavis twin, beads and cloud terrarium. Sort of soft and gentle rhythmic vibes for a Monday night. Full video here, in which I bring in some resonance counterpoints from the Vostok Atlas filter: https://youtu.be/NivBaY0rif4?is=6kihNeLUG6AeBGWw

Hi, just wanted to leave this as a spot to discuss the new Patch Essentials series from Music Thing Modular - basic kick/snare/bass etc patches designed for the Workshop System but probably useful in other places. It's free, just sign up and we'll email you for five weeks - https://preview.mailerlite.io/forms/1972910/197335146835216212/share or more background here: https://workshopsystem.substack.com/p/workshop-notes-september-2026

Looking primarily for sending audio from my Motu M4 into my modular. Don't need expert sleepers as not looking for sending CV too.
I'm want something that is reliable, clean and minimal noise. Using it primarily to send recorded vocal into my case.
There seems to be a lot out there.
Let me know what works for you!
THANK YOU

Hey all, I tried posting a few days back and the automod slapped me so I'm trying again. I've made a Max4Live device that writes splice markers and converts your audio files for quick and easy Make Noise Morphagene reel prep in ableton.
The device is built to either add the markers at a division of the master tempo OR place the markers based on the active warp markers on the file.
It's my first M4L device and I really just built it to save myself time and headache but I figured it could be useful to others as well. You can find the device and user documentation for free at https://mellotom.github.io/morpmarker/.
Being my first device, I have not tested it outside of my local Mac environments, so please report a bug using the link in the manual if you run into any issues.

Hi,
I’m looking for a multi random source module. Transient 4R seems to be the perfect module for what I want, but I can’t find it for sale.
Any idea on what could replace it?
Thanks!

The module in question: https://happynerding.com/dual-xfade/
Unfortunately the module isn't available anywhere. I also contacted the manufacturer, and it appears that the module needs a redesign due to parts availability, so it most likely won't be available anytime soon.
In any case, I'm looking for something that would allow me to mix/transition between 2 modulation sources. CV control is a must have, a knob/fader is a should have. 2 channels is a nice to have :)
I know about Doepfer's A-134-2 (https://modulargrid.net/e/doepfer-a-134-2), but it has no manual controls...
Do you have any suggestions what could I use? I'm pretty new to the world of modulars, so maybe there's something uber cool that I overlooked :D
Thanks!

I have surpassed the -12v rail rating for both my mantis and my 9u case from lake. 90 plus percent of my modules are Joranalogue and they all run exceptionally “hot” in the -12v rail rating department often matching their +12v draw.
Intellijel Performance Cases have a rating of 3000ma for the -12v rail which blows away my other two cases by a huge margin. So I ordered a Performance Case and 4 3u to 1u adapters to put in the 1u row. I realize this negates the built in jacks 1/4” etc and features of the case. But I really only like Joranalogue and I think I can handle having some of their modules mounted sideways. I hope I like it. I hope it works out.

Rather than subject myself to hours upon hours of scrolling through ModularGrid, which I will instead be doing so of my own free will, I figured I could ask the chat since it's a rather specific query to otherwise search for:
what's y'all's favorite minimal-interaction modules? Talking stuff like NLC's 8-bit Cipher, Cutelab's Missed Opportunities, down to the most basic of Isaac Beers's logic gates. I'm talking less than one-knob-per-function. No knobs per function is ideal. I'm trying to envision the limits of my ideal old-school switchboard-style synth system.

Hi there!
Just thinking of swapping the Winter modular Eloquencer for a Make Noise René and I'd love to read experiences from real users (not AI generated opinions).
When I perform with modular I really miss the feeling of interacting with a instrument by touching something like keys and creating fresh melodies. Not looking for a traditional keyboard, but more a west coast mindset.
So far I used the sequencer by composing a score and programming sequences on the Eloquencer, and play them through an ASR making counterpoints and Euclidean rhythms.
Would this swap worth it in someway?
Thanks
