Moto2 and Moto3 2027 lineup?

Upvotes

Randomly thought during the day, how is, according to rumors/reports, the grid next year gonna look in the lower classes? Other than the ones that are already confirmed like Vietti to Aspar for example. If anyone knows, then i will gladly read about it, it got me a bit curious the last few days.

Father birthday present

Hey all,

I would like to take my father to MotoGP next year (so 2027 season). He’s a big fan, and I’d be his company there :).

I was thinking of either Hungary or Austria since these are the closest one. Any advice from pros? Which one is better during the summer? Which tickets would you recommend? I’m somehow more prone to Hungary (it’s closer to us from the two)

Cheers and thank you!

Lorenzo gets flag stuck in his chain

Jorge got his Spanish flag tangled in his chain during his celebratory cool down lap just after winning the 2010 World Championship in Malaysia. I've often seen flags getting super close to wheels/chains but hadn't seen one actually get stuck until this one.

What makes a "Ducati track" at vs an "Aprilia Track"

I heard going into this weekend Aragon is a Ducati track but Misano and Sepang will be Aprilia tracks. What don't I know that these assumptions can be made somewhat accurate?

QMMF and Lusail International Circuit say still planning for Qatar MotoGP and F1 to go ahead

Thumbnail reuters.com

The QMMF (Qatari motorsports federation) and the Lusail International Circuit issued a Q&A (which I did not receive, but Reuters did) stating that despite the cancellation of the FIA WEC round at Qatar, they are still planning to host MotoGP and F1 at the circuit. Preparation is going ahead as normal, and the airport is functioning at 100% capacity.

At Aragon, I asked senior officials off the record what the status of Qatar was. They told me, still no decision been made about it. There were rumours that it had been cancelled already, but those rumours were based on the idea that Austria had issued a travel ban for Austrian citizens to Qatar. That is false. Austria has Qatar as a code yellow - travel, but be aware and take precautions.

So, for the moment, looks like Qatar is on. But that could still change in the next couple of weeks. I expect a decision before MotoGP heads off to the flyaways. The teams have to know by then just because of the logistics involved.

Would love to see Archie in moto 2 on a fast bike, he would surprise the other riders by getting on the pace... quickly.

Max Quiles End of Season Math

If my math is mathing (always questionable at my age), I believe that Max can clinch the Moto3 title as soon as 3 races (post-Japan). But here's my numbers in case anyone wants to make sure that I'm actually doing this right.

Maximum points available in a Moto3 weekend = 25 points.
Races remaining = 9
Total points on the table until the end of the season = 225

Current points lead over 2nd = 97

To clinch post-Japan, Max needs to have a 151 points lead over 2nd, as max points remaining at that point would be 150. To reach that, he needs to outscore 2nd overall (currently Álvaro Carpe) by 54 points overall (roughly 18 points per race, well within his average overall points haul of 21.3 [out of the 12 races he's run], or just better than an average finish of 2nd).

If Carpe remains the reference, he would need to score 12 or fewer points total over the course of those 3 races (average finish of 12th or worse). Statistics say that's probably unlikely; while Carpe does have 2 DNFs this season, his lowest finish otherwise was 11th. Those 2 DNFs skew his average though, which ends up being roughly 12.2 points over the 13 races he's ran, or an average finish of roughly 4th or 5th.

More likely appears to be post-Indonesia. At that point Max only needs a 126 point lead since the max remaining points would be 125. If they both maintain their average finishes (Max earning +85, Carpe earning +49), Max would have a roughly 133 point lead at that point. Which since he only needs 126, would clinch.

In the same scope...

David Alonso's 14 wins in a season record is probably safe, but not outside the realm of possibility. Max's win rate this season is pretty ridiculous (roughly 64% since he missed Silverstone), but he'd still need to win 8 of the last remaining 9 races to take that title outright. My math says roughly a 10% chance of that happening. Tying it is slightly better odds; 20%.

But, as I noted in a previous discussion about Max, his worst finish over these remaining races last season was a 6th at Sepang. Nearly all of those tracks he was seeing for the first time, as a rookie.

And, winning 7 straight to finish the season was exactly how Alonso took that record outright himself.

So, likely? Statistically probably not.

But...I'm also not remotely discounting Max either.

MotoGP title battle: where will Márquez attack and where will he have to defend?

Thumbnail

Nine races to go in what’s looking like a three-way title fight between Marc Márquez and Aprilia team-mates Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi. Márquez’s injuries mean he will be able to attack at some tracks but will be forced onto the defensive at others, so which is which?

Fabio Quartararo: "For personal reasons, I don't want to help Yamaha looking toward the future".

➡️ "This weekend I've acted more like a test rider. I've tried the chassis three times, but it doesn't work. We also have a linkage system, but there are no improvements, so I'm riding with a standard bike".

➡️ "This weekend has been more of a testing session than a search for performance. In any case, looking toward the future, I'm not in a position to help. And, for personal reasons, I don't want to do it".

➡️ "We're trying to make progress this year. But, in the end, if things don't improve, there's not much we can do".
