My poor ninja 650

Rode my favourite route last thursday, the sun was shining and it was real nice... Up until i hit some gravel in a corner and wasnt able to save it, with more skill and experience maybe I could have, but alas.. the damages was apparently too severe so the insurance is paying me out the bike instead of getting it fixed. Rest in pieces..

So, what bike do I get now?

One tiny scratch on the frame and insurance will total it

I work in the motorcycle industry. . Takes a little more than that . But the plastics and labor . 🙄🤦‍♂️😬

And I've had a bike totalled because of a small scratch that could be barely felt with a fingernail .

Scratch or ripple? I have never seen a scratch so anything other than some calling he wow er a moron and telling them to touch it up or put a sticker on it .

A ripple .. frame’s fucked .

Scratch. RIP my '09 fzr600. I didn't even have it for 6 months

Crash with a scratch on the frame usually means bike is totaled. Repair has to be to "new" standard, replacing the frame or getting it out to be professionally painted is so much labor that's it's never worth it. Free to buy it back and keep riding though, lots of people do it.

The question is still why bother with insurance if it’s just a scratch?!? You fix it yourself

It wasn't just the scratch on the frame. In fact, I didn't see that over the plastics and tank damage. The appraiser spotted the scratch first and told me that was enough
